Upon my 10th rewatch of the entire Sopranos series, I come to realize that Tony is simply a fat bully who doesn't respect anyone's right to free-will, private property, or relationships.
He thinks he should be able to fuck whoever he wants, take whatever he wants, basically do whatever he wants--his biggest mistakes stem from not respecting his underlings property.
-Almost fucks adriana. -Takes Raulphie's horse and fucks and steals his woman--then kills Ralphie when his kid is in the hospital.
Scenes with Jackie Apriel really bring it home-he was a great boss.
I mean you're mostly right but we're made to understand that it could in part be attributed to his father likewise being a scumbag and being manipulated by his BPD/outright evil mother his whole life.
The dimension to the character isn't as much acted out by Gandolfini as it is firamed by the narrative.
>tony was a text book borderline personality sociopath >took you the tenth marathon to realize this
How was it not obvious like the second time around, after you start to see the subtleties? >forces Bobby to clip someone because he Bobby bested him >Kills his cousin >kills his nephew that he “loved like a son” >killed a man who’s child was in the hospital over pure speculation that he killed a horse >almost killed Paulie because he found him annoying There are many other things, but Tony was an intelligent emotional cripple with physical strength and a great poker face.
James Wright
>saying nigger is now offensive What happened to this place? What did Sup Forums do to you?
Juan Thompson
you're pretty slow on the uptake
James Perez
they've been pushing the sopranos and rome is Sup Forums narrative for a while now.
Alexander Hughes
I think he at least cared about his family
Logan Carter
Arty was the good guy and had hot italian fat titty wife.

there was some fag in one of these threads the other day complaining about matt and sean getting bullied by furio

other tony was a dead man walking christopher was also a dead man walking but in a different sense he realized paulie was the guy who told johnny sack about the fat joke
Juan Watson
>I come to realize that Tony is simply a fat bully who doesn't respect anyone's right to free-will, private property, or relationships. >He thinks he should be able to fuck whoever he wants, take whatever he wants, basically do whatever he wants--his biggest mistakes stem from not respecting his underlings property. Uh, when did I get transported to Sup Forums?
They explained to you, out loud, in plain English through Dr. Melphi, that Tony was sociopath.
Jonathan Morgan
So basically he is an alpha leader?
Jaxson Scott
Sup Forumstumblr is spreading it's cancer all over Sup Forums
Luke Jones
It took you 10 rewatches to figure that out?
Noah Hughes
Is this a meme?
>I'll give you that >Kills his cousin quickly to spare him being tortured by Phil >Kills Chrissy after he notices the babyseat in the back and if Chrissy's child had been in it she would have died ("The criminal's sentimentality reveals itself in compassion for babies and pets". Not to mention if you watch the intervention scene again how (relatively) calm Tony is until he mentions Cosette) >Kills Ralphie because of the horse (see above "compassion for babies and PETS") >Almost killed Paulie because he knew Paulie had told Johnny Sack about the joke and Paulie was ready to fuck Tony over until he finds out Carmine doesn't know who the fuck he is and then goes to the bathroom to take a literal long look at himself in the mirror
I have to ask if you're memeing because I've only seen the fucking thing once and already know this. Chrissy and Ralph are the most obvious because we, the viewer, have it confirmed that what Melfi reads in The Criminal Personality is completely accurate and she was professionally correct to stop seeing him (at least according to this (((paper))) written by two Jews). I would argue that she isn't morally justified, but then you could argue it would be immoral to see a patient she knows she couldn't help. But if you do that you end up in a minefield of semantics that I'm not Jewish enough to navigate around.
Eli Sanders
It took you 10 rewatches to realize tony is a psychopath
Hunter Green
I've just started the last season of this show for the first time. If it took you 10 viewings to realize that Tony is a piece of shit, then you can't be to bright honestly.
Ryder Long
>forces Bobby to clip someone because he Bobby bested him tony is a piece of shit, but on the other hand that's the point from which on he respected Bobby as a true member they all killed at some point except bobby... 2bh I'm not even sure how Bobby got made, because as far as I know you had to have killed someone for the good of the business
Noah Rogers
>2bh I'm not even sure how Bobby got made, because as far as I know you had to have killed someone for the good of the business retarded youngfag shut the fuck up
Leo Ward
>wife is a nag who suddenly after years and years has a problem with her husband fucking goomars >son is a spoiled faggot who has the nerve to get depressed over some fucking cubano skank leaving him >daughter is an annoying know it all who keeps claiming moral high ground and keeps dating the wrong guys >cousin 1 is a liar who beats his fiancee and hides his drug addiction from him, is forced to go to rehab, then relapses at the worst fucking moment >cousin 2 is a faggot who went against his orders >best friend and cook tries to commit suicide after a botched business deal and has the gall to blame the entire thing on him >everybody working for him at some point or another thinks he can get away with working against his interests and those of the family >uncle tries to get him killed >mother was a cunt >sister is most disgusting human on earth who egged her future husband and murder victim on to murder him and become boss >brother-in-law sucker punches him thinking nothing will come of it >therapist is mentally unstable herself and an absolute failure
Tony was justified in everything he ever did and a hero who took the action that was necessary and always lead to the best possible result considering the circumstances.
>almost fucks adriana But ultimately didn't.
>takes ralph's horse and woman then kills him He's the buoss of the family he can take whatever the fuck. Ralph's death was a net positive, eliminating a potential liability and difficult co-worker as well as a terrible parent who lets his son play with a literal functional weapon.
Carson Robinson
She was actually ugly, the sweater puppies just distracted you from it
Zachary Torres

So you're not disagreeing?
Nathan Morgan
fucking hell, it took you ten viewings of the entire show to realise this? there is hardly a single likeable character in the entire show imho
Joseph Thomas
Ralphie gave pie o my to Tony. He didn't want to deal with the vet bills, so he gave her Tony's number, she called Tony in the middle of the night crying, and then he went to go listen to my rifle, my pony, and me from Rio Bravo while smoking a cigar. But I do wish the first season had more of Jackie as the boss, he reminded me a little of Don Vito from The Godfather. He's fair, because he has the power to deal with situations that aren't fair
Jace Carter
I don't disagree. But in this Sopranos Universe, we're shown that evil satanic black magic shit ( how did he know about the poison ivy?), religion, God, and all this crap is for real. Even dreams have meaning in this universe, it sucks, but I can accept that it's for the story
Jace Hill
That might be all right. But what about the GABAGOOL?
I recently started watching this I managed to get to s03e01 or 02, and then i stopped, havent qatched for a week now Its just too boring, too much boring stuff Like most of family stuff, most of shrink stuff, its just boring I really expected a great mafia show, but thats barely half of it
Is that it? Why do you guys love this show so much? Are you all very young and think that you saw something intriguing family and personality wise?
For the last time, Tony is a psychopath, not a sociopath. A sociopath is someone who does not feel things. It's not repressed feelings, it's not anger, it's lack of feeling. He's a psycho, he feels incredible rage, he has love that he can't express, he's violent, but those aren't evidence of sociopathy. He's ultimately selfish, but he is capable of regret and remorse, even if it's just for a little bit
Joseph Thomas
im on my first run and what i got is that to be a mobster is to be a thin skinned faggot with morals that you inherited and they're easily shaken down plus being an unfaithful prick , but coming to think about it i think that's life in general or probably that's how it's like to be in a competitive line of work
Gavin Watson
s1- great s2-really great s3-still good s4-going down s5-getting desperate s6-pleb tier filler trash
Julian Hughes
>Ralphie was a good boy gettin his life back on track! he dindu nuffin!
Tyler Baker
Yeah, the point isn't to glorify these people. There a broken mess just like everyone else in real life, it's the movies that make the mafia seem cool, if not dangerous
John Torres
s7 the nu prequel- The ultimate cash grab filler trash
Jordan Robinson
>Takes Raulphie's horse and fucks kek But yeah. Tony's a piece of shit. Him getting killed at the very end was actually a relief. Shit is kino, I think I'll rewatch it again soon.
no but it's way different then the corp. like and formal attitude of the character's in the godfather
David Ward
>brainlets in this thread unironically think he killed Ralphie because of the horse Lmao dumbasses he killed him due to a mixture of the horse and the stripper
Camden Perry
Tony was da boss though he is allowed to fuck what he wants
Landon Gonzalez
reminder that hesh was the real boss tony kicked up to hesh, but coz tony was a dick and hesh was a nice guy ,tony took the piss
Jayden Hill
I've re-watched them all in this last week and seasons 1,2,3,4, are all ace is 5 poor and 6 is just can't wait to get it over. Yep Tony is a bullying prick who was an endless hypocrite and big emotional baby, thoughtless, impulsive and self centered.
I used to think carmella was the most despicable character as she was his number 1 enabler when she really deep knew the truth.
Justin Perez
>Raulphie
Easton Flores
I don't get how people don't understand that the horse reminded him of the stripper who reminded him of meadow. He killed Ralphie because meadow was a delicate creature going off to the dangerous real world and Ralphie killed the stripper, who was the same age as Meadow and very well could've been Meadow.
you had to watch it 10 fucking times to realize this?
Tony is a horrible asshole. He TRIES to change in S6, but he just ends up being even worse
Isaac Barnes
Upon my 10th rewatch of the entire Breaking Bad series, I come to realize that Walt is simply a bald bully who doesn't respect anyone's right to free-will, private property, or relationships.
He thinks he should be able to fuck whoever he wants, take whatever he wants, basically do whatever he wants--his biggest mistakes stem from not respecting his underlings property.
-Almost fucks that vice principal from his school -Takes Gustavo's chicken and fucks and steals his recipe--then kills Jesse when his kid is in the hospital.
Scenes with Gustavo really bring it home-he was a great boss.
SOO FUCKIHNG FUNNY AM I RIGHT!?!? XDXDXDXDXD
Xavier Mitchell
the opposite actually
Nolan Reed
These, plus Svetlana
Grayson Martin
Carmella is awful, but come on, the most despicable is clearly Janice. I have never experienced more hate for a fictional character than that waste of oxygen
Jace Richardson
Janice has literally no redeeming qualities.
Nathaniel Ward
you are the reason chase wrote the ending like he did
Blake Miller
lmfao this is patently untrue.

Bobby is a reflection of the New Mafia where this isn't required, just who you know. He was made because of his dad.
The same thing happens in real life. You can literally buy your way in now.
Dylan Harris
No one said he was a sociopath though. We know he's capable of having feelings, it's just that the sentimentality of those feelings are expressed through children and pets. I feel like I'm repeating myself.
Samuel Miller
Hesh wasn't any kind of boss. He was good with money and Tony would borrow from him during his heavy gambling phases.
