It's as good as 1982 in many ways. People often don't realize 1982 isn't that great. The two movies compliment each other well, acting and storylines are decent, effects are good, ect. The transition between the two is perfect and many sets/props are done well to appear as the same in both movies. I like watching 2011 and 1982 back to back as a double feature. Now I prefer watching them both together as there are good parts in both to enjoy and bland parts in both to get through. Watching them both together really ties the everything into a cohesive narrative.
The only people that claim to dislike 2011 are rebbit tier retards with zero original opinions. It's a meme to hate 2011 so people blindly do. Take a look at this thread for example. It's full of mindless retards hating on 2011 with posts that have zero substance.

Don't hate the 2011 version. But it's pretty baffling that so much of the movie is about the transformations and they looks like absolute shit.
Maybe if the film was like the original, more methodical with how it used the transformations , then maybe they could've gotten away with it but the film is much more about the body gore than the first one.
