Just finished the season 2. What does Sup Forums think of it, I think I rarely ever saw it discussed here.
Pretty solid hard sci fi here imo
The expanse

I miss him
Pretty good, but there are so many books in the series, that I am afraid/confident that the series will be cancelled before it finishes retelling them all.
This in turn will mean I have to read the rest of the books like a medieval peasant instead of enjoying it as a show.
best character, shouldn't have killed him
Can anything else compete?
Sadly this.
Shows actually really good once you get past the stupid accents and bad acting
Hopefully S3 is more popular
Holden is shit. But it's the best sci fi ATM
Eh Compain
Dw you real Beltalowda now
Great show, shitty lead. I like the Martian pilot.
I like how the writers use the show to improve the story from their books. Naomi's past being properly built up is especially a nice touch, and I like how Amos and Alex are actual characters from the beginning.
I actually stopped watching after the episode he died. I didn't actually MEAN to do it, but the next episode was so different that it killed the momentum and then I started watching other stuff.
Should I start watching it again?
You leave Warren Peace alone.
I think that episode was the end of the first book. Which makes it odd that they placed that in the middle of season 2
>
pretty sure he comes back at some point. Bookfags said he turns into Cortana or some shit
I feel like the quality dipped a bit once we got the crazy space monster stuff, it was a better when the whole thing was more political
still enjoying it, though. one of the best scifi shows I've seen
Good series but it bothered me how off the wall, and completely full-retard Holden acted during the penultimate episode, where he insisted on murdering the alien without listening to reason of anyone from the crew. Fuck also that stupid frown he had on the entire time.
Agreed, it went from fairly realistic space sci fi set in the not too distant future, to cheesey space magic.
Agreed. Lead actor is atrocious.
He'll be back
The alium shit is the worst parts in the books too. Thankfully they go away from it and back to the more political/factioning stuff from the early ones.
Why is The Expanse so butthurt about the alien wizardry anyway? Detective-The Expanse was more fun to follow.
It is best when alium tech is the backdrop for human factions to squabble over rather than actually doing anything itself.
Wish the detective actor was the lead instead of budget little Harrington Jon Snow ripoff
Love this fucking show. Who /Amos here?
more like who the fuck isn't
Pretty good show tbqh. But I'm guessing the source material is decent too.
isnt the protomlocule tho kinda being overpowered on venus creating an entire new ayyy planet ?
It's the Rick and Morty of scifi shows.
Fucking kek.
>tfw enlightened Nihilist
>It's the Rick and Morty of scifi shows.
Not even
If meme and Morty was set on the council of ricks planet for 3/4 of the series INSTEAD of the horribly written family drama post S1 that would be a accurate statement but it isn't mate U dumb
Seriously, Does Amos have autism?
most definitely
Lol, dude really is trying to be John Snow so hard.
At least he's in a better show and it's not like kitt can act either he was terrible in spooks but funny as fuck in that Andy Samberg tennis comedy
The TV show completely botched how terrifying Eros was supposed to be. Its something out of dante's inferno in the books, and after that Holden goes full PTSD when the protomolecule is even mentioned. That's the reason for his behavior.
Yes.
Their characters are extremely similar, I find it funny they cast similar looking actors.
I’ve been rewatching S2 to prep for S3 next month. Solid show. Plausible future (with the exception of the proto-molecule). Actor who plays Holden is a mumbly sack. Cultural differences between the factions are fascinating.
The book describes some real freaky stuff coming out of Eros, with disembodied hands crawling around, fused bodies crawling on the walls and stuff. Obviously they couldn't show that on TV even if it IS cable.
>he doesn't know
They could have put some puker zombies in at least. We got a pretty nice nasty dead Juliette Mao, i was expecting some more of that.
Also Amos isn't really autistic, he just has a heavily trauma influenced behavior
Prax on the other hand, now THAT's an autist.
Personally I don't enjoy discussing it here because bookfags never spoiler their shit.
That said, yeah it's a dope series so far. I love the attention to detail to the ships and space stations, and the fact that the showrunners don't shy away from stuff like communication lag to other planets and spinning gravity.
I mean I swear some shows just do it on purpose to piss you off. I watched the first ten minutes of the cloverfield n*tflix paradox and the habitation ring was orbiting sideways? baka
Oh also the music is dope
These ships are fucking sex.
>Personally I don't enjoy discussing it here because bookfags never spoiler their shit.
so read the books...took me like 2 weeks to finish them all, they're not long
Rocenante
or
"Rowsay" as the nigger brittish gal says it
low budget, kinda shit acting, pretty generic in a way, filled with diversity hires, incredibly fun and entertaining. A solid 7,5/10.
Mill-a
It's Rocinante you illiterate fuck.
Best horse in literature ever.
Good:
Drummer
Nice ship design
Faction depictions/large scale intrigue (except for anything involving the set of martian '''marines''' they cast--they suck so goddamn much).
Space implementation
People get spaced regularly
Bad:
Inter-crew drama
Crybaby main character
City design on Earth could have been better
Acting overall not that great
>low budget
name one show with better sci fi space cgi than this
reading is for dorks and nerds tho
Except I watched the show first, and I enjoy that rendition just fine. Now back to /lit/ with you.
>The TV show completely botched how terrifying Eros was supposed to be. Its something out of dante's inferno in the books, and after that Holden goes full PTSD when the protomolecule is even mentioned. That's the reason for his behavior.
I kinda has the sense this was the case. Shame it's not a big budget HBO show or something.
lit doesn't even like these books retard
>(except for anything involving the set of martian '''marines''' they cast--they suck so goddamn much).
They literally die in like 3 episodes.
Maybe my tolerance for shitty characters is just too high since I had to suffer through every abysmal Max scene in Black Sails to get my flintkino.
>City design on Earth could have been better
what the fuck was up with that part with Bobbie and the Slums. Never happened in the books, and eveyone has on earth has basic, which outside of shitty places like Baltimore is more than enough to not live like a street rat like what we saw in the show
He'll be back in the next season
there are a lot of things in the show that don't happen in the books. we don't really get a look at life on earth until the fifth book with amos
>new show based off a book series with a small yet die hard fan base with a cast of no bodies and one recognizable actor on the main cast
Was anyone really surprised Miller got Ned Stark'd?
wow ur so smrat
I know, I just finished reading the last one. Seeing all the changes they made just for the first two makes me pretty skeptical they'll be able to deliver on the rest.
>/lit/ doesnt like the books
I'll count that in the book series' favor
Altered Carbon? I mean that show looked great, but the story and stuff is lacking. This show is comfy but you can tell a lot of stuff is being left out or the sets don't accurately portray how big everything is supposed to be. Stuff like: >The TV show completely botched how terrifying Eros was supposed to be. Its something out of dante's inferno in the books, and after that Holden goes full PTSD when the protomolecule is even mentioned. That's the reason for his behavior.
how many hours in those two weeks?
He has psychopathy in the books.
>Was anyone really surprised Miller got Ned Stark'd?
More like pissed off. I enjoyed the bugger. Now the only bro left is the redneck martian pilot.
It's on Syfy, it's expensive and has low ratings, it's getting cancelled. They have at least two other shows coming out now like Krypton and some George RR Martin adaptation, something's gotta go
altered carbon is 90% neon lights and dark rooms
/lit/ is fucking retarded and their stunningly bad opinions are only overshadowed by Sup Forums
Really bad dialogue but the universe is cool and the "realistic" spaceships seals the deal
/texan pajeet/ represent
>reeding books
fuck off nerd
What GRRM adaptation is that?
yeah i know but its actually written Rocenante
netflix is helping them with the production costs
Syfy is really stepping their game up, my cousin works for games workshop and tells me they are in preliminary talks of making some kind of show about 40k.
He's damaged.
>tfw you realize both Coach and Nick are in the show
Not enough to justify keeping a show with such low ratings
syfy can go ahead and cancel it, netflix will just pick it up, they're already paying for it
I thought I recognized that dude's voice
Mu has the worst taste it's all fucking noname trap niggers ans machine gun rappers
Oh fuck yes
If it's anything like event horizon count me the fuck in
>If it's anything like event horizon count me the fuck in
Think it will probably be about the Inquisition because of budget reasons
From left for dead 2?
Who's Nick? I knew coaches acto from the wire
Nah I think unlike dark matter which shat itself in the last season and wasn't that good to begin with I think the expanse will stick around once it comes into normal people's radar.
There isn't any original spacekino that's remotely good and white the expanse has some issues it's still good enough to build a following.
Anything's better than std and whatever the fuck sg1 reboot was.
I liked the Orville it found its footing nicely and it's a comfy tng tier romp
Who /fredjohnson/ here?
Not that up on w40k lore but I love the universe
Will it be event horizony or more cerebral? Either way fuck yus I'm glad sci fi is getting big on tv again now everyone is burnt out of disneyshit and Hollywood/threatres are only producing Normie slip for the masses exclusively
>Mu has the worst taste it's all fucking noname trap niggers ans machine gun rappers
not sure what you were expecting, mu is all 16 year olds
They don't even know big alt bands from 5-10 years ago and I'm only 27 ffs
That said the worst taste board is v that board is even more influx fucked than Pol and int combined
i know it follows the books, but it moves pretty slow.
i havent read them, but im really hoping all the storylines come together somehow. right now theres a lot of disposition especially the whole un lady thing
>all those Holden haters
Maybe it will sound weird, but I find that the actor's bad acting makes a good and realistic description of the character.
He starts as a weakling pussy who doesn't want to assume responsabilities, but he still evolves thoughout the story, even going as far as risking his friend's life because he cannot let go.
I don't know, but the character acts like I would imagine this type of weak idealistic person would do
ok but be real, he's the least interesting one of the group
Interesting sure, but he's still entertaining
The books take place over like 60 years, they're all old fucks now, my guess is the show ignores the time progression
Nick is the thicc martian girl's commanding officer.
Which is a shame. It feels like the show ignores the very real and near insurmountable logistical issues of space travel, mainly time/distance. The books handle this pretty well, despite the asspull with the slowzone and gates.
will she ever crush me with her thighs anons?
>I don't know, but the character acts like I would imagine this type of weak idealistic person would do
The character does, sure, but he has a more fluid personality and the dude can't act worth a shit. The others are more stereotypical but their actors act the part well enough. Apart from MUH SPEIC MUREEN GURL.
Really liked most of season one, but with the show apparently going full bananas alien monsters shit at the end of the season I haven't been able to motivate myself to watch season two
