yeah but the point is they didn't know and had no way of knowing from their point of view they disabled one robot with it and seconds later another one appear unaffected. Later on the disabled robot went on to destroy two category 4 kaijus by himself so it really wasn't that effective from thei pov

The one thing that bothered me the most about the first movie was its half-ass combat. I just don’t think that realism and hand-to-hand combat robots really go along. There were some cool deployment scenes in the first one that make you feel the weight of the Jaegers, but it were just the deployment scenes. Jaegers in this movie still has tons of weights with them. Uprising fixed the combat in the first one really well by giving the Jaegers full mobility of movement (I just think it’s more fluid, something like Gundams you know).
The movie even has a plot twist that surprass the generic story of the first one imo. So basically you’re getting a sequel with better combat and story, with a little less realism (Jaegers designs are basically ridiculous with the tech we have today anyway). Why is everyone hating it? In the time when the only cool robots movie we get are the exhausted Transformers franchise with basically no plot and all the movies have the same ending, Uprising is a gem.

I saw this last night with a friend because we're both somewhat losers and we wanted to go out on a Saturday night for once.
This film is essentially a live-action Saturday morning cartoon. The opening action scene is ripped out of The Force Awakens, and the rest of the movie seems to be some kind of combination of Independence Day Resurgence with Ender's Game, but somehow with even worse writing. The special effects are PATHETIC, the practical effects look like they were bought at Party City and the action has no sense of scale or realism - huge, 100-foot tall robots move about like ballerinas and perform acrobatic stunts that would literally be impossible.
The ending is the same as every shit-tier Star Wars rip-off, "GOT TO DESTROY THE BIG BAD WITH SECONDS ON THE CLOCK WHILE EVERYBODY IN THE OPERATIONS ROOM WAITS IN SUSPENSE".
Chinese pandering is hot and heavy and starts almost immediately, with Jing Tian taking the role of a Tony Stark-esque CEO of a Weapons Research firm that wants to build automated Jaegers to police the world. Her company is subverted from the inside by an insidious agent of the Precursors. Essentially, this person is responsible for putting KAIJU BRAINS inside the Jaegers who then MUTATE to CONTROL EVERY SYSTEM in the Jaeger in some incredibly belief-stretching fusion of Alien and Robot technology.
Because of this, most of the movie is spent with Jaegers fighting evil Jaegers, and only at the end do the Jaegers fight a giant Kaiju. The giant Kaiju is literally the only highlight of the film, as it looks really cool and intimidating, and had me hoping it would just kill all the annoying teenage Jaeger pilots so Godzilla could appear and kick its ass.
