>character doesn't drink on a sunday because "monday is work day"
Character doesn't drink on a sunday because "monday is work day"
>character has a job
every time i go to the store to buy liquor at 6am the staff look more and more disappointed in me
n one cares, they're making money
>Not having a roster of liquor stores to regularly alternate between so you don't start getting recognized and judged for your frequent purchases
>Haven't drunk for a week
>Feel absolutely fine
>Might get a drink sometime during the week
>Might not

been sober for 3 weeks now lads. any tips for fighting the urge? i sat in the parking lot of my local liquor store for 20 minutes on friday arguing with myself about whether or not i should get some alcohol.
Start smoking to take your mind of drinking
i don't like smoking. i only ever did it when i was really drunk. hurts my lungs.
>TFW only drink like twice a year
But I can't judge because I ding-dong diddly dose kratom twice a week
everytime I get the urge I go for a walk or a long drive until the off licenses close. I still drink but I only allow myself to do it one night a week now
Drink from time to time.
I quit drinking on weekdays, lost weight, feel better, better at job and can still drink on weekends.
I have more money and becose of weight loss it takes less to get shitfaced.
Start shooting heroin to take your mind off drinking
>tell an alcoholic to drink in moderation
Lmao
>character isn't think about killing himself
I am one.
It can be done, kid.
There is no such thing as alcoholism. Anyway in order to stop any useless habit it helps to replace it with a positive one. I work out in stead of drinking now.
believe it or not it can be done in the right circumstances
the "alcoholism is like diabeetus and once you have it you're fucked" is a meme pushed by the cult known as AA
>the "alcoholism is like diabeetus and once you have it you're fucked" is a meme pushed by the cult known as AA
this
yeah, i tried that. i could stick it out through the weekdays no prob but when the weekend did roll around i'd just binge and end up not doing anything except being drunk. that aint no way for me to live man.
I don't understand losers who are controlled by cravings.
It isn't hard at all to give up anything.
I would recommend a short (6 to 8 mth) trial on an SSRI or alternatively Bupropion both of these drugs help curb compulsive thinking which is something you have developed with alcohol. While you are on it start working out, eating healthy and sleeping 8 hours a night. Read Nietzsche. Forgive your self when you fuck up. Avoid any kind of religious or moral hang ups. You can do it.
Ha ha, wrong. Your brain literally is wired differently, while I agree AA is somewhat of a cult, the science is pretty clear about what happens to an addicts brain if you have the addiction gene. The motivational system that effects drive gets altered. Imagine having a drink is the same as getting a blow job and then zipping up and walking away before you bust. It can obviously be done but the drive center is pushing for anther drink as strongly as the sexual urge is in normal people. Normal people don't react the same way.
Science does not support this at all and certainly not as a universal appraisal of disorderly drinking
"Somewhat of a cult"
It is 100% bullshit and cult
You cannot deny it works for many people
Make a public post on social media. Think of the dread and embarrassment when you have to tell everyone that you've failed. Think of the fact that your only accomplishment will have been proving to yourself that you have no willpower in the face of a temporary pleasure from a debilitating vice.
but have you met the people it works for? They live and breathe AA and very few have real lives of their own. The religion of AA is the replacement for drinking
Sure they are healthier for it, but to me they seem to be a generally broken, weak-minded bunch.
t. lives in a halfway house and forced to go to 6 AA meetings every week
It has a very low success rate and even that cannot be definitively attributed to the process.
Functional MRI's say differently.
Do some research bro.
I've been to AA meetings that are milder, they genuinely want to help people, but I've been to some pretty cultist vibe ones as well.
>have work monday
>am drinking
>will feel like shit and pee poo pepe up the toilet
Yeah, you're right about that. I'm thinking of going myself, but I'm not the type to buy into these cult like groups, so I guess we'll see if it work for me.
Is it doing anything for you?
That's not what I've heard
Idk i have gone through treatment and my doctor said anyone can develop a SA disorder and anyone can become chemically dependent. Genetics may play some role in predisposition but only as one of numberless factors
Most people just go to AA to be around other people trying to sober up and it encourages them to do the same. Some people might read into the religious parts of it way too much, but that doesn't make the group bad.
>Is it doing anything for you?
It's nice to hear people's stories and know I'm not alone, and I've met some cool people and I like my sponsor.
That said I'm not sold on it and the 12 steps are bullshit to me. I just fake it and pretend to work the steps so I don't piss off my landlord who is super serious about AA and NA. Once I get enough money saved up and get my own place there's only one meeting I intend to keep making and it's once a week, people there are nice and fun and there's just a jovial atmosphere.
You really have to shop around to find a meeting worth going to
Your doc is correct of course, anyone can get chemically dependant on substances. And then of have residual cravings, most smokers are this way or caffeine fiends, but they've found it's the routine and habit that is what they are fighting against not the drive center reflex as I described earlier. But being addicted to something isn't the same as being and addict. As far as genetics are concerned if one of your parents had the gene you have a 50% chance of inheriting it.
>protagonist is a cop
>he drinks, smokes and fucks hookers
cocaine
Fun fact, cops and criminals generally have the same personality profiles.
Really makes you think.
>giving a fuck what cashiers think of you..
