>Suga Raps S. Korea over Indictment of Japanese Reporter youtube.com/watch?v=iPX19ynYOqw Suga Raps S. Korea over Indictment of Japanese Reporter Tokyo, Oct. 9 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga on Thursday condemned the indictment in South Korea of a Japanese reporter on charges of defaming South Korean President Park Geun-hye. Wednesday's indictment of Tatsuya Kato, former Seoul bureau chief of the Sankei Shimbun daily, was "inappropriate for a democracy," Suga said at a press conference. Also on Thursday, Junichi Ihara, director-general at the Japanese Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, summoned Kim Weon-jin, minister at the South Korean embassy in Tokyo. The indictment is extremely regrettable, and Japan is deeply concerned in terms of press freedom and bilateral relations, Ihara told Kim. Kim said he would convey Japan's concern to the South Korean government.
