The trailers for Solo already look more visually interesting than Rogue One. Plus Howard is a much more competent director than Edwards.
Remember that Rogue One had a lot of reshoots too.

That's what Howard does, he makes reliable-sturdy-kick-the-tires kinda flicks.
That's what I'm saying. Disney brought him on for that exact reason. Their strategy of using these no-name directors wasn't working so they brought out the ol' plowhorse to provide them with a serviceable blockbuster.
