He also did a Trixie comic. Just as this comic was based on Love at First Height, the Trixie one was based on The Boy Who Would Be Queen.
I remember his explanation being that the comics are how the characters retroactively remember the events in the future, after Timmy grows up and loses his fairies.

I would have been happy if instead of "grammer stanley", Bill had just appeared and thanked Mabel for the snowglobe.
Stan punches Ford for leaving something dangerous lying around, mostly it plays out the same, and Ford has a heart-to-heart with Mabel about how he should have trusted her, and not to feel bad because Bill tricked him too. Mabel learns the same lesson Stan learned in land before swine.
Hirsch himself said the series is about characters, and he really screwed over Stan and Mabel's characters in the home stretch.

He was awesome being mind wiped to take out bill, but they had to basically dive into poor writing to get to that moment.
Mabel didn't have to say 'today I learned' directly, but setting her up to give away the globe, only to never address it again, is inconsistent with the writing and storytelling in the rest of the series. She needed a "Candy, Grenda, I'm sorry you had to eat rats for 3 days."
No series is perfect. I loved GF, and we always strive to help the things we love be better the next time around. I want the storytellers on Sup Forums to take notes on what works, and what doesn't.
