Terrible movie, but the payoff is so fucking ludicrous, it's genius.

>Dolph Lundgren is some kind of special ops fightman
>On a mission against [badguy], a flashbang grenade goes off temporarily blinding Dolph
>This, for some reason, makes Dolph have a crippling fear of the color WHITE
>Final scene takes place in a fucking dairy

The best part about PotA, is right before this scene, after the movie building up how fanatical and oppressive Ape culture is, Dr. Zaiuss tells Taylor than humans are the destroyers, it has said so in their religious texts, and he hasn't found anything to prove them wrong.

So Taylor stumbles across lady liberty, and confirms hes on a post apocalyptic Earth, but Taylor realizes that humans are the ones that destroyed it, and that Dr. Zaiuss was right the whole time.

kino

the ending dragged out far too long and was so melodramatic, Lord of the rings is cool and all but this was pretty shit desu

lol

I've seen every hong kong john woo movie and a couple of hollywood ones
it's amazing how total disregard for safety and an abundance of chin chongs willing to do dangerous stunts for a bowl of rice enhances an action movie
Anyway, which of his hollywood films are actually worth watching

AW FAYHLED YA MASTUH WUAYNE

Was this Return of the King? I remember having to piss really bad while watching this in the theater, and the 13 fake-out endings almost ruined my pants.

its perfect

>it's amazing how total disregard for safety and an abundance of chin chongs willing to do dangerous stunts for a bowl of rice enhances an action movie
That's exactly what separated Kamen Rider from Power Rangers and other shit like that. In fact the main actor almost died doing motorcycle stunts, where they'd set off large amounts of explosives a few meters from the actors.
And the best Jackie Chan movies are the ones where he got hurt the most.
Hollywood action can be fine but nothing tops asian stunt teams.

hahah, yeah man I feel bad for you, Peter Jackson milked the fuck out of the ending I think everyone praised it a lot at the time because everyone was so invested in the trilogy at the time. But looking back at it the ending was almost comically dramatic and drawn out.

bravo nolan

The Hills Have Eyes (1977). Some people say it was too abrupt and anti-climatic, but I thought it was perfect. I haven't seen the remake yet though.

pure fucking kino

The "greatness" you get out of the end of a Harry Potter film is the realization that you are finally free from watching one of the dullest franchises in the history of movie franchises? Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the books were good though r-right
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

Absolutely epic ending

>the dumbass dad who overreacts to the actions of the townsfolk and calls them irrational proceeds to commit an even greater irrational act at the very end.

Pure kino.

That is a good one, but Excalibur has the best ending ever.

Attached: To-Avalon.jpg (799x504, 35K)

His decision isn't irrational at all.

How is sparing your kid from being ripped apart by giant fucking bugs or being webbed into a wall and deposited with millions and millions of tiny bugs inside of him while alive irrational?

Why did they film this scene with an iPhone?

Shut the fuck up.

>great endings

Brian De Palma's Blow Out has one of the best endings ever IMO.

John Travolta's can hear/is recording his best girl die before he can save her.

Then he uses her scream in a B movie slasher film he's the sound guy for.

Her scream driving him crazy.

If you've never seen Blow Out it is 100% KINO.

pike off

Just another step in Godzilla's evolution to survive. I'm guessing some kind of hivemind swarm of xenomorph-like humanoid mini-Gs.

Godzilla was evolving a way to destroy the things that were hurting him, by becoming them
