Mister Miracle #4 Preview

Ready for more edgy New Gods?

...

Is Derington doing all these covers because Way is slacking on Doom Patrol?

...

thanks, i hate it.

...

I mean I thought Orion was going to irritate me, but making Lightray this really does. How many more issues are we gonna have to deal with before the curtain gets pulled back?

I legitimately thought we were going to get the reveal this issue.

Nice!

The whole thing pisses me off and I am reading out of spite. 12 issue max I believe. Then someone will have to come fix them again.

>Big Barda issue incoming
My body is ready, OP.

Any chance of this getting into a single book? Love to buy it.

It's 12 issues total but issue 5 or 6 will likely be the turning point

If it sells as well in trades as Vision did then yeah, DC will probably do a deluxe sooner than later or never

how well is it selling at the moment?

it is 5 and 6. read the solicits

Good
Lee said #2 was up from #1 and #3 was up from #2, pretty unheard nowadays

>Mister Miracle 1 33,493
>Mister Miracle 2 41,575

The second issue sold like 10k more than the first.

Pretty sure this will be the NGs going forward for a while.

A classic Barda panel to get everyone hyped.

I don't think this is even good independently of what it's taking a dump on. Even the art isn't good - there are some nice flourishes, but it's not the best on the shelves or as experimental as it could be. And Tom King's dialogue is a fucking weight.

>lightray taking the hits like a bitch
I'm pretty sure he would vaporize Barda's ass. What is King trying to prove here?

ugh i don't want this.

That Lightray is a faggot?

that he hates the new gods?

>I'm pretty sure he would vaporize Barda's ass
kill yourself

> even the art isn't good

see yourself out of the thread

WHERE IS THE BARDA/SUPERMAN PORN

>he like poser art and copying and pasting

I honestly don't think what King's Mister Mister is or how it fits in the continuity. If you want the newest update on New Gods go read issues 26 to 29 of Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps. It's a great arc and Orion is a hero as he should be.

Chill, nigga. I didn't say it was bad but I'm not astounded by it save where Mitch plays around a bit.

Man, this is some shit taste.

Got a link to the download?

Butthurt waifufag detected

>people unironically like this

only Bardafags and suicidal bettas who identify with ooc Scott like this run.

Well? Darkseid Is.

Nothing that's currently happening is real.

Mister Miracle didn't escape death.

Yeah that's why it isn't selling very well.

Read Simonson's Orion instead of this hot garbage. Vastly superior story AND art.

Will people finally realize King is a one-note writer? He's like a damn angsty 16 year old fanfiction writer.

>that mug
How edgy

This

Seems so: Sometimes, Sup Forums is just wrong.

>I'm edgier than this less-edgy thing
Or read them both.

She's a big gal.

Are there any complaints with this series that aren't "not muh"?

I know that something is wrong blaaa blaaa but it's really weird seeing Lightray act like this.

Also they're dragging the reveal of whatever it is that's happening, god I just want to get this over with.

it's predictable and king has a writing type that he's done three books on so it's less unique and boring.

I know that it's not really Anti-life but rather the paranoid pills that makes Scott see things. So, does that mean that nothing is really happening and it's all a big hallucination in Scott's head? If so and this is all reflection of Scott's true feelings then why does Scott suddenly hate Lightray and Orion?

Only for Orion.

because king does. you think he cares about what scott is really like?

Its really astounding how fast people turned on Tom King. His worst crime is having an underwhelming Batman book. You faggots were just expecting a godlike book full of CIA memes and when it wasn't that you devoured the guy.

I know King already hates Orion and Lightray as he said so himself but I'm trying to understand the plot from the viewpoint of people who defend this run. Nothing makes sense in this story.

for you

Because King doesn't like them and he self-inserts himself as Scotr

>it's predictable
In what way? I had no fucking idea where it was going.

>king has a writing type that he's done three books on so it's less unique and boring.
For one he's a tragedy writer even if he has a certain style he adheres to that doesn't automatically reflect badly on the work itself.

its anti life and a whole bunch of drugs and doctor m fuckery and mid life crisis and maybe low key possession

>tfw no big spoon gf

giant Big Barda when

A) Hallucinations caused by Scott near dying due to Orion and this is his hatred forming in this weird out of character Orion.
B) Some Darkseid fuckery trying to turn Scott to his side by trying to make Orion and co. look evil as fuck and his side sympathetic
C) King fucked up
I like to think B. Most likely B.

if you aren't familiar with new gods, it's probably good.

his tragedy style doesn't mesh with the new gods, especially scott, at all.

>In what way? I had no fucking idea where it was going.

How? No, really, how? It's so telegraphed

It's just brainlets that can't into reading composition who hate king. It's not the best new gods run but it's not the hot garbage that people claim it to be

It's not hot garbage, but it is incredibly boring.

I mean I read Fourth World. I'm just not autistic enough to pass on a good story because characters aren't adapted one way or the other.

>How? No, really, how? It's so telegraphed
Explain.

what about this is a good story?

Considering how Granny acted before dying I think B is most likely as well.
Also, since Granny can't possibly be dead in the continuity, the whole thing is definitely in Scott's head.

>Highfather in Issue 1
>"Anti-life can change reality and Darkseid has it"

>Mister Miracle in Issue 3
>"Hmm maybe Orion is infected with Anti-Life"

>Darkseid Is Darkseid Is Darkseid Is

It's as blunt as being hit by a truck

what didn't scott have anti-life before?

>reading composition
It's usually "comprehension" friendo.

Yes please tell us the rest of this "telegraphed" plot. Go on.

B A T
C A T

>I had no fucking idea where it was going.
What the shit? How could you possibly not understand where the story is going? No wonder you are impressed by this cliche story.

>where the story is going
And that would be...?

I enjoy seeing slow descents into madness. This book reads like everyone is going crazy and it shows through the art and paneling instead of just the writing.

>telegraphed
They word you're looking for is 'foreshadowing'.

I honestly do not understand the problem with that, literally the characters may not say so at the beginning of the dialogue and it would be exactly the same.
On the other hand with miracle.

>They word you're looking for is 'foreshadowing'.

Foreshadowing is more subtle than "this is why".

yes cause were suppose to buy a baby fucking with Orion

So spoil it for me. How's it end?

Not that user. but issues 3 says that one of Darkseid's agent is actively fucking with Scott. It's not literally Darkseid. Use your brain.

Scott Free realizes he's been trapped in this Anti-Life/Omega Trap and breaks free from it, and this escape also allows him to break free of the 9 panel grid because of symbolism.

>Not that user. but issues 3 says that one of Darkseid's agent is actively fucking with Scott. It's not literally Darkseid. Use your brain.

That's just King using old captions from the original series. He's been doing it every issue.

Scott's either trapped in anti-life like Shilo was in Morrison's run or under the influence of Dr. Bedlam like in the original Kirby run.

Use your tiny brain and actually read every line in the issues instead of jerking off to Barda's tranny looking ass.

I think that Omega Men was much stronger than King's Batman though, user.

>Scott Free realizes he's been trapped in this Anti-Life/Omega Trap and breaks free from it, and this escape also allows him to break free of the 9 panel grid because of symbolism.
That sounds pretty good 2bh. I hope you're right. Thanks.

I don't really get this screencap. If you do the same thing over and over, of course it becomes less interesting. What it seemed like you were doing to experiment or use creative muscles comes to seem like a crutch.

>up your ass
wew

I've been saying this since he came on the scene but the hype machine always prevails.

The truth is, it's better, but the king's batman does not make me bad, I'd say it's a good story, nothing impressive but at least it develops the character and the arc of bane was pretty good

>why does Scott suddenly hate Lightray and Orion?
Because the writers does? I honestly don't know especially since Scott and Orion's relationship has always been very amicable.

Going by King's interviews I can only come to the conclusion that Scott is upset that Orion got to live in New Genesis which he saw as his birthright and is also upset about being traded off to Granny. I mean those feelings make for an interesting story but King's feelings regarding Orion are pretty shit and it's obvious he doesn't get that character, so all he will do is make Orion evil to prop up Scott.

But all his interviews and this story has shown me is that he doesn't get New Gods and that all the people wanking this story probably don't even know the characters that well.

In interviews Tom King swears that Jack Kirby intended for Scott to be a Jesus figure which is pretty fucking stupid if you know the history of the New Gods (the fact that it was suppose to be a mini and it was suppose to conclude with Orion and Darkseid dying while fighting each other before DC told Kirby to expand on it) and Mister Miracle was suppose to be more of a standard superhero story. You can even see that both the tones of Mister Miracle and New Gods were different.

Not to mention he's making the "Son of Darkseid" prophecy be all about Scott when Darkseid never considered Scott his son (or gave much of a shit about him other than have him escape so as to re-ignite the war between Apokolips and New Genesis) and it's always been about Orion and Darkseid.

He's always been wildly overrated.

>Scott Free realizes he's been trapped . . . and breaks free from it
Literally every single plot in Kirby. This is like saying, "The plot is the hero makes a goal, encounters obstacles, nearly fails and triumphs in the end." Wow you must be psychic.
How dare you?! I am not jerking off to Bar--

Is it impossible for you to look at a work in it's own context rather than in comparison to things around it?

I want to live in a world where King self-inserted with Orion instead. Because imagine how great that would have been since the whole depressed and conflicted tone is actually a part of Orion's core.

Since being a baby Darkseid loves grail more then her brothers so yes he does consider Scott his son but a disappointment

Once I've read those works, yeah. I'd say that's likely true for anyone. I can't approach King's Mister Miracle entirely new to King, because I'm not. I'm not Pierre Menard, my man.

Don't you think he means Kalibak?

We're almost half-way through the story and it's been pretty mediocre for me.

I also say this as someone who enjoyed Omega Men and Grayson, was whatever about Vision, and dislikes his Batman run, so I'm not an anti-King fag.

Honestly I rather he just fucking finishes The Sheriff of Babylon.

I just don't think King is good at writing New Gods or at least not what I like in New Gods, he's not shit-tier awful like Starlin (whose Cosmic Marvel stories I love) but it's just fucking boring and has NOTHING of what I like in New Gods.

So, go on Mr. Big Brain, explain it to stupid me.

Ummm. No one ever gave a shit about Scott. Whenever there is talk of two brothers it's always Kalibak and Orion.

>characterfags

Always shitting up every thread

>yeah
