Ok, I'll admit that for most of this campaign, I've despised you Trumpkins. The moronic sloganeering, the stream-of-consciousness-fuckwitery of your leader, the raw sewage that spills from every orifice of the campaign and which has set politics back 60 years+
But in the past week or so, I've perhaps seen things from a different perspective. Call it paternalism, call it naivety, but not only will I be cheering on Tuesday when Hillary is elected into the Whitehouse, but I think it will also be the best thing to ever happen to a lot of you on this board too.
You see, when she gets into power and starts addressing so many of the gender and racial problems the US is facing, you'll soon realise that this monster you created in your minds doesn't actually exist. Clinton is a far better networker than Obama ever was. Yes, she's an insider, but outside of your Nascar-mindset, what does that actually mean? It means she can get things done. She'll work cross-platform, she'll get things moving again after GOP intransigence over the past 8 years.
So this ogre; this devil that you’ve all collectively convinced yourselves is going to destroy your country; she’s going to get in and, you know what? It’s not going to be bad at all. In fact, the country will improve immeasurably. Your candidate will lose – and believe me, he’s going to lose badly – but you are not going to suffer.
And that gnawing, churning fear that stalks your every waking moment – fear of blacks, fear of hispanics, fear of muslims, fear of being overrun, fear of China, fear of modernity, fear of the unknown - will gradually but surely be replaced with a new perspective – just like I changed my perspective on you.
So here’s to America’s first woman president. Congratulations Hillary Clinton.
