It's not the theme per se but a "dark" version of it. Very much like in Super Mario World, how the theme of the haunted castles is the melody of the main theme but with some notes out of tune to make it sound spoopy.

Loki is pretty much the only relatively layered villain. Unfortunately.
Malekith was probably the most undeveloped villain so far. Basically he wanted the Aether to suck the light out of the 9 realms for revenge cuz Odin fucked up his world when he was a conqueror. The Aether turned out to be the reality stone
It was actually Odin's father Bor who was trying to do that
And Bor stopped him from doing whatever he was trying to do the second time

To be fair i haven't seen it in years. I actually don't hate the movie, Loki is good in it and it has it's moments, but still, it's the worst MCU no doubt
