So, Cartoon Network seems to be dying as a channel

Do you think they'll completely relaunch soon?

Inb4, but the app is the future and it's doing so well and shit. Bull fucking shit, if things were going well, don't you think they would brag about it? Truth is, their app is probably doing like shit and not making them enough money to even fund a season for one of their 11 minute cartoons, which cost millions of dollars to create.

All the shows that saved their asses finished or are finishing. The are so fucking done. At best their shit will reach 1.2 million viewers nowadays and whenever that happens it's TTG. By the way, ratings for TTG are down as well.

Another correction

*At best their shit will reach 1.2-1.5 million viewers nowadays

...

This is why I hate newfags. Kindly take both your threads and kys.

Yeah, I noticed that as well after I made the thread, pretty funny.

As if I want TTG all day on THG.

Go fuck yourself you nigger.

here is a secret millenials/ gen z doesn't understand

TV runs on advertising. TV channels for kids don't exist to keep parents happy with the kids distracted by shit, they exist to sell shit to kids, or "to parents because parents should watch kids shows with their kids "

guess what, smartphones and video is all kids need, and now with download why would an advertiser waste their money? unless the show somehow was dictate by advertisers

who is proving up CN right now? do they have an agenda? follow the money...

As an audience, we shouldn't care too much. Their properties will get bought out and their talent will move to other networks. We'll only lose some of the smaller shows and the bigger ones might change somewhat.

I'd argue all channels are dying.
Times are changing, these companies will either adapt to internet/streaming or die.

you heard Satan guys follow the money

Satan Jr, is that you?

man when I was a kid...hell just fucking ten years ago I NEVER would've that thought "channels on tv are dying" would be a thing. its just...weird to me as a 20 something.

is that what old fucks thought when tv replaced radio?

Tv and traditional cinema are dying across all genres. They'll soon be replaced by exclusive streaming services. The only thing keeping them alive are the baby boomer generation.

>check CN schedule for the next few days
>100% TTG
Cancer... cancer as far as the eye can see.

How exactly does the app even generate revenue? Does it just have ads?

Yeah, but why is Nick doing significantly better than CN then?

>Tv and traditional cinema are dying across all genres. They'll soon be replaced by exclusive streaming services. The only thing keeping them alive are the baby boomer generation.
Mainstream cinema has morphed into a pretty stable spot in that it's tailored to be a social event rather than an objective means of communication. Notice how there are basically no big "directors" anymore except for maybe Nolan and Anderson and they're the exceptions. Technology has evolved to where cinema is just a medium for artificially exclusive distribution for easily digestible mainstream shit.

Enjoy your Star Wars and Marvel every year until you die.

Nick is a standard broadcast network and CN is an exclusive cable channel.

I do think Nick also has a much stronger brand identity than CN at the moment but the fact that it's more accessible really helps.

Six years ago, when I was still in high school, I tried to tell everyone that cable tv was dying and there was nothing anyone could do to stop it. They all said I was crazy. This was absolutely bonkers considering that it was a high school tailored to technology specialists but I guess the student body was as dumb as a regular school.

Wow, you're such a fucking genius.

I'm not pretending to be one, I'm just surprised that so many people thought the idea was stupid in a tech school of all places.

do they do that "we're going to try to make bank on our own streaming service" instead of working together with an already established service? because they should fuck off from that and sell their shit to someone so that I can catch shows someplace other than a bootleg website

Well, most people are fucking retarded, especially in the US, so I shouldn't be surprised.

It's a popular thing now it seems, to just make a streaming app, problem is, if it fucking sucks, it will fail and no one will use it. Their current app is shit and I'm not surprised it isn't doing that great.

that and no one wants to pay 9.99 apiece for 20 different services, thats why netflix and hulu are doing so well

Netflix has been phasing out all of its old shows and is basically trying to turn itself into a "producer" brand with all of its bullshit originals.

Disney doesn't want to pay royalty fees to Netflix. Netflix doesn't want to pay royalty fees to all of its old shows from before it made bank on originals. The result is fuck you consumer, pay for four different streaming services to get everything you want.

True, even if other smaller companies manage to pull it off, they do so because they make their shit properly and give people access to their entire fucking libraries of shit, it makes it worthwhile to subscribe to such services. CN are far away from having something like that.

>all cinema is Disney

I'm pretty sure the people selling the royalties are seeing dollar signs and jacking up the price to netflix on mediocre shows now that syndication on television isn't as lucrative anymore. So I see why netflix would drop a lot of shows that aren't worth the price, but it would still be nice to have somewhere where I can binge watch seasons of shows somewhere still.

>Thinking that just because I used two mouse brands doesn't mean that this doesn't extend to DCEU and remake shit like Kong, Jumanji and Baywatch as well
If you mean arty Oscarbait shit like Moonlight then okay, but that isn't what user was talking about.

Well, TTG might end soon so you migbt be right about the reboot

might*

Has Ren & Stimpy taught you nothing? That show was made to kill off the bloated toy adds, also if that was the case the shows like Gummi Bears, DuckTales'87, Tiny Toons, Batman:TAS and Animaniacs would of never been made.

Remember what Ren & Stimpy taught us and the industry would be a much better place.
Ponoc, Cartoon Saloon & Chizu (and to a lesser extent GKids) will like to have a word with you.
Nick is not in the same class as NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox and CW, Nick like CN is a cable channel.

Hey, at least they're airing ONE whole airing of Kung Fu Panda 2

...Fuck CN

Fuck off techfag, streaming fad will die before disneys service can come out

just stream online.
what's the big deal? why is it so hard for these channels to make a transition? magazines too.

App? Doesn't that thing literally not have full new episodes and instead always has short clips of would be new episodes confusing viewers?

>cares about a dying medium
>cares about flawed and incomplete statistics
>makes random assumptions with no evidence

I get the strangest feeling you're a TLH fag

Because going online doesn't make them fucking money. Not enough to fund million dollar fucking cartoons. Even if they make pay to access services for their content, they will need a shit ton of subscribers, which they might not even get with people getting tired of having to use a bunch of shit to watch what they want.

TV is more stable, the revenue stream is clear.

I don't even know what TLH is, but animation isn't a dying medium.

Something like that, it's fucking shit.

television is the dying medium you idiot

give it 5 years and having cable will be like having a landline phone, who even does that still? Really old people, maybe.

The Loud House, a terrible flat 1D show.

It's reasons like this is why normies are begging Bryke to come back, now to see when Voltron:LD is over to get Mir back at Nick.

>wanting Bryke to come back
Korra was shit/meh at best. Voltron is bland. Why would anyone want Bryke back?

Because Loud House made Korra look good.

nothing wrong with a landline.

I admit, I only saw ~30 episodes of TLH, but it does seem better than Korra.

Also, Welcome to the Wayne fucking when. 2-3 months without episodes already

you can't "inb4" your own post faggot

Fite me faggot.

Seek help, has John K taught you nothing?

lurk moar newfag

Nope

>Nick is a standard broadcast network and CN is an exclusive cable channel.
Wrong, I never got Nick growing up because it was a cable channel, some Nick Jr shows like Dora and Blue's Clues played on ABC or CBS on Saturday mornings before 8, but that's it,

Then you're going to be saved and knows whats good for cartoons.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Kricfalusi

Just mute his Disney & Tiny Toons/Animaniacs bashing and you will be fine.

>John K
nice meme

It's not a meme, it's a fact.

You don't know how TV works, do you?

Uhhh....

I"d take SBT or Avatar over anything on the right

user he basically thinks everyones work but his own is the cancer destroying animation and gonna cause the death of the art, and has been saying that for like 20 years

he's a nut, I'll believe that Cal Arts is secretly destroying art before I believe John K could save anything

>So, Cartoon Network seems to be dying as a channel.
People already said this in 2007.

You're not only delusional but you're also retarded, seek help.

lol wouldn't it be funny if they actually changed the changed the channel name to TITANS?

There are so many more big name directors.

Theres already a channel in Turkey called that and it's about taking tours of rich people's houses.

Not happening.

LOL no it actually wouldn't.

TTG is apparently ending so it won't be required.

theSJ one in the pic has good colors, it simply follows an artistic direction different from most other stuff in the image.

avatar also had great coloring that's simply a "bad" that still has good color and shading.

You never use pink & purple in cartoons, same with brown & gray but not to the same degree as pink & purple.

Nostalgia cunts are the worst. We get it, you're overly attached to your shitty show from the 90's and the 80's, but stop trying to shove them down our throats like they're some kind of Godsends. If you want to see truly good use of colors look at some good anime films or productions.

you realize the shows on the right are using those colors too right?

also what a stupid arbitrary rule, I would love to hear the terrible justification for it

why? i hope it's not some retarded reason like "because they're girl colors", and the other user is right you have pink and purple on the right side too.
plus, there's a lot more to an image or a cartoon than raw colors, for instance shading and contrast are important and can make or break a scene. if they provide good contrast or fit the style i don't see why those two colors can't be used.

But not in inappropriate places is the thing, a beach as no reason to be pink and purple.
Those shows on the right are not shot they're gold standers of the industry.

>Those shows on the right are not shot they're gold standers of the industry.
Because you want them to be or because you believe them to be that way. Cool.

No they are as they're set that way by the likes of Jerry Beck.

Who the fuck is that? You shouldn't worship some hack which doesn't even do stuff that is that impressive. As I said, if you want to see truly good coloring, go watch some good anime, you faggot.

Nick is doing better than CN, but it still has lower ratings compared to previous years. SpongeBob only manages to grab 2 million viewers at most nowadays. It doesn't get 3-5 million viewers per episode like it used to 4-5 years ago.'

Disney Channel is also dying, have you seen the ratings for any of their programming? Tangled the Series gets barely a million viewers. (But its still better than all of Disney XD's programming)

Spongebob is kind of unfair, thing is zombie-tier now so it still grabbing that much is kinda impressive, doubly so if you consider how much are in it because of nostalgia/old SB.

All channels have declined massively, but yes, Nick still is doing better than CN right now.

your a fucking idiot you do realize that baby boomers are 60 to 75 the ones keeping it allive are gen x you fucking mongoloid get off the planet

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Beck

Also Hamtaro is a anime. Note that you said good and not great.

SpongeBob maybe a zombie, but kids still like it and it has recently won back the old fans because a majority of people think it has gotten better.

Also, unrelated to SpongeBob, but Loud House's ratings have massively sunk after the Chris Savino incident. It was almost on par with SpongeBob before he was fired.

It'll be interesting to see if ratings continue to fall for it.

Well thanks for your insight and info. Actually, you know what, Hamtaro is the greatest piece of media in the fucking universe.

i hope not. i like tlh a lot and it would be a damn shame for the show to sink because of irl shit rather than aspects of the show itself.

Ratings across all of television has been slowly dwindling, but CN basically shot themselves in their already broken foot by airing nothing but TTG. Of all the main three kids networks, they have the worst ratings.

Yup, I don't know what the fuck they were thinking.

show got popular despite massive backlash from TT fans, so maybe they thought it was gonna be this huge thing if it could still do so well while taking shit. Apparently they don't get how extended exposure to the same thing can make even the best shows tiresome.

I think they were delusional and thought it might be like a Sponge Bob for them or some shit. Well, it's television we're talking about, so I'm not surprised that the hack that are running the network made such a big mistake and had so many bad decisions in the last few years.

Boomers are 53-71 actually

It's not about you, asshat. It's their highest rated show, so from a business standpoint, it's not a bad move

Hamtaro is not that great, the games were better.
No, Disney XD is the worst, at least CN gets views in the millions when Hotel Transylvania:TAS is Disney XD's only show that gets a million views when everything else is less then 400,000 views at best.

I think Disney XD has shit ratings because it's a premium channel.

Hence why it's a death bed channel.

at least Star is doing good.

Is it? They just decided to throw all their animated shows on there, that's what it looks like to me.

How good? I know DuckTales'17 bombed and that Pokemon is less then 300,000 views when at CN it was at a million.

Again, it's a premium channel, of course it doesn't have anywhere near as many viewers as something from CN or Nick. Gravity falls season 2 moved over to XD as well and it had a massive drop in ratings.

i don't know any numbers but it has been going without any signs of stopping or getting tight, iirc it was greenlit for more seasons pretty fucking early.

As for DuckTales'17 all I seen is that it's getting a 2nd season and the team behind it is doing a Monsters Inc. show for Disney's streaming service pointing out that there is no 3rd season to DuckTales'17.
