Hey Sup Forums my local library just got vol 1 and 2 of this and i was wondering if its worth checking out...
It's great. Definitely read it.
I NEED THAT TRADE!!
was it clear enough?
The worst thing Brubaker ever wrote. Dead Reckoning is the only good story from the run. Pick up Gotham Central or Catwoman instead, if you haven't.
the only thing i have read from Brubaker is kill or be killed so all his stuff is new to me.
Brubaker is a very good crime writer, though inferior to Lapham. If you haven't read anything else by him, you still have a huge catalog of good comics available to you. So why waste your time on his Batman?
worst thing he wrote, AT DC
my local library is next door so mostly due to convenience and i read to kill or be killed when it was story timed. i dont really collect comics outside of love and rockets, so most of comic reading comes from here or my library.
If you find it convenient, then why not?
cause some people like batman and aren't intested in something else, I mean in that case, why waste your time with "graphic novels" when there're hundreds of real novels with better writers.
well my library usually brings in a good selection of stuff so i am trying to prioritize my reading and batman usually takes priority because it was my first cape. an just wanted co's opinion on it, plus with my job having down times to read comics is rare so i want make it count. none the less i will try convince Liberian to look out for the trades you recommended if they are in trade format.
While Brubaker seems like the ideal writer for Batman his wasn't very good, partly because him and the artist were a mismatch.
It's all right. The shit with the League of Assassins making furries is a little strange, but works well later on in 52. Nothing's gonna really stand out in Vol. 1, but nothing's offensively bad either.
Haven't read Vol. 2 yet so I can't comment.
yeah i am not familiar with this artist outside of dixon's nightwing run, which is why this trade caught my eye.
should i just read the fugitive and murder storyline since those seem to be the big stories from his run.
Personally i wouldn't recommend it, if it had just been a normal Batman arc it could have been good, but for reason they decided to turn it batline crossover and split it into two events so it ended up being really decompressed and most of it feels like filler.
Those are the low point of the run. The worst issue is Batman 600, where Bruce and Dick have a goddamn pissing match and start punching each other because Batman went full retard and wanted to abandon the Bruce Wayne identity.
Brubaker wrote for Batman too?
I loved his run on Daredevil and Captain America, so I need to know, was Incognito any good?
so then should i skip over that arc? sorry if i am asking to much about how to read his run im just trying streamline it so get the best and avoid the bad.
Honestly, none of it is that good, even the better issues aren't anything special. I'd do what that other user said and get his better Bat-works, like Catwoman.
If it weren't for Fatale, Incognito would be his weakest creator owned work.
alright then i think i am just going to pass, my library just the batman golden age collection is that worth a read?
