Should it have been Starro?

>Just like the first JL comic appearance
>Convenient reason for the obligatory hero vs. hero fights, especially vs. Superman
>Can mind-control civilians to give Batman a nice moment to shine by taking them down non-lethally
>Full-on giant monster in the climax so the entire League can conveniently fight it all at once
>Less backstory required, yet much more memorable to a casual audience

yes

>a giant starfish on the wide screen

No.

yes

It's very easy to change a design and keep him intimidating without making him humanoid

I don't know why people keep saying Starro would be too silly.
It's very easy to make it look menacing.

People have been telling DC they suck unless they be more like Marvel for so long

So, they figure, if Marvel doesn't take risks why should we? Make the badguy like Loki or Ultron or Dark Elf

Yes. Or at least lets fight them vs mogul. Change the mindcontroller thing into a starro offspring.
Than you can tease starro and darkseid.

You could start the movie with that superman came back from death. But acts different and agressive like. Than batman has suspicions since superman acts weird. Suoerman tries to be president of the world and batman finds out that he is just controlled by mogul, who knew kryptonians with yellow sunlight dont die that easily. So he took him, nursed him (maybe rescued him) and put him under a starro offspring that he manipulated.
Make it like batman has to solve the mystery of superman returned and why he acts strange. Than maybe hint mogul possess a motherbox to heal superman. In the end have some psychic shenigans when batman or wonder woman touches the starrro offspring and let him enter superman fantasy of a perfect life where he has a "afterlife" luck. Free Superman, defeat mogul. Suddenly the motherbox is stolen. Superman tells what he got from moguls mindcontrolling about motherbox. Maybe let aquaman hint that he know where anotehr motherbox is. End

Than you can make a follow up where they fight starrro to get the atlantean motherbox, after that the jla fight darkseid over the final third motherbox.

you can always use the Genghis Khan version of starro, heck just change Steppenwolf's outfit and you are set

Or send in this fuck head as a first wave and bring out the real star at the end.

I've never seen this Shao Kahn Starro before, but I'd take a million giant space starfishes over this goofy fuck.

He's from R.E.B.E.L.S. vol 2 and never made it beyond that before FP happened. Point is that he is large and intimidating AND uses Starros to control people. And you could easily make him the real Starro's minion.

It would work on the DCW for a future cross-over, especially since they have brought in the Legion to Supergirl.

I agree with OP and
But not sure about this guy, he's too deep a dive. They could use him, but I think they need to introduce other things first.

Thats very lame. That screams just "we need humanoid aliens" and "everything tries to be humanlike".
At least they could have made his chest Starro a real Starro. So its just fused to be the prime Starro.

It should have been Amazo

Starro or Granny Goodness.

Him or Despero. Despero would've made it easy to bring in Martian Manhunter.

It would be incredibly easy. Lots of real starfish already look like nightmare creatures when you get a close look at them.

Imagine this thing latching on to your face.

Just saying Lovecraftian Starro.

Half-Life headcrabs but more star shaped with an eye and a big mama star crab thing.

Yeah it should have been. DC basically wants to follow in Marvels footsteps without earning it. Rather than build up t9 the team up movie, they start with it, and instead of trying something different like Starro, they ape Thanos with Darkseid.

It's from the same mindset as "we should use Steppenwolf."

Weird things are SILLY and NOT COOL ENOUGH in the minds of manchildren.

This, but Goodness with Godfrey.

Oh heck yeah. The charismatic talker and superpowered Dolores Umbridge wombo combo.

Yeah Starro would be too weird and out there for snyders kinoverse

Nah, Starro is cool for comics but without the martian it becomes less interesting.

If they wanted to get real ballsy they could easily portray them as tv evangelists raising a Superman Death Cult. It writes itself.

Would have been perfect given the Jesus analogy with Superman that is so heavy in Snyder DC

Yep. It's all right there, real easy to do and a new, unique spin. It'd even justify Superman fighting the League and do a better job hyping Darkseid.

Anyone who argues that the DC movies are a hair away from being good needs to realize that they've just been thoughtlessly throwing out themes and symbols and the writers/directors are honestly too stupid and uncreative to actually do anything interesting.

Same for the Marvel movies, really, but at least some of them are taking a few creative stabs within their stagnant formula.

Even the jokes are built in.

>Flash drops in on Granny Goodness, tries to gently pull her from chair.
>Gets backhanded through building.
>Old woman hulking out walks towards him through rubble, revealing the battle armor underneath.
>"...you're one bad mother-" gets backhanded again.
>*Pause for audience laughter*

I'd rather they wouldn't, but the cliche one-liners are ripe.

Starro was in the first JLA issue but he wasn't the first foe they fought. JLA #9 showed the origin of the League and they fought the Appelaxians, who would actually make a great first movie villain.

>Martian Manhunter comes to earth
>Goes out of his way to locate Batman for his resources, and Superman for his power
>Warns them that Despero, an ancient warlord who wiped out the Martians in a war between Mars and Kalanor, is coming to earth
>Despero, who is now thin and frail due to the passage of time, is coming to earth to search for the last remnant of the Flame of Py'Tar, which was hidden there by one of the last rebels of his planet
>Despero wants to use the Flame, which gave his people life, to return him to his former power, and brings with him hired alien mercenaries to assist him (Faceless Hunter, Kanjar Ro, and a White Martian)
>The heroes gather to fight Despero, who mind controls some of the members but eventually loses his grip
>Climax is Despero finding the Flame, becoming Superman-level strong with incredible psychic abilities, battling the League
>Battle ends with someone taking out Despero's third eye, MM mindfucking Despero, and being handed over to the Green Lantern Corps for imprisonment

>Granny Goodness
This here. That would be a better general before darkseid than Steppenwolf. Aid her with the Furies and you have an interesting supporting villian cast.

Or even with and let granny and furies his handmaiden in the film.

Indeed, hate that limiting mindset.
