Gargoyles is on Amazon and iTunes to purchase. Buy these episodes to support the show and show Disney that people want to see Gargoyles in reruns on TV again and be revived as a comic book, since you know. Gargoyles really felt like a Superhero comic book
Gargoyles is on Amazon and iTunes to purchase...
remember when we didnt have to sort of beg and plead and give extra money to good shows just to get them recognized as good?
I guess I don't either
Are they remastered like Rescue Rangers and Goof Troop?
Nope because Disney hates Gargoyles
I'll consider it if you watch Weisman's actual best show.
Or at least the pilots.
Is there actually a reason for this? It feels like such a missed opportunity for Disney to not be doing anything with this franchise.
>Gargoyles last comic was a decent niche success and was performing well, spin-off minis were planned for Weisman's spin-off ideas
>Disney sees the success and hikes up license costs, killing the series
It still hurts
Because they never really understood it. Honestly it's a shame Weisman will never be able to secure the rights. He really cares about it and if Disney ever did decide to do something they'd likely try without him.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we see a "Telltale's Gargoyles" in the upcoming years.
I already have all the DVDs, so unless these come with more behind-the scenes stuff and a Power Rangers SPD trailer, no thanks.
You fucking moron. If you buy the episodes on iTunes or Amazon, we might get a new comic series and hopefully that becomes a huge hit
Disney obviously doesn't give a fuck unless it's something nostalgic and really popular like Ducktales.
>spending your money on the same thing twice
You buy video game remasters of games less than a decade old, dont you? How many copies of Skyrim do you own?
They probably think it has too much overlap with their other properties and don't want it competing with them.
Gargoyles had a comic book release that Disney screwed over and a fan convention that lasted over a decade. Its the fan favorite of The Disney Afternoon and had the biggest fandom of the shows
I don't do that but I get everything Gargoyles related because I want Disney to bring the show back from the dead. Disney has made some good shows sure. But none of them have come close to topping the brilliance and maturity of Gargoyles
>I get everything Gargoyles related
That doesn't mean Disney's going to bring back the show. I have the SLG volumes and the Bad Guys one as well, but that doesn't mean Disney's going to see that and go "OH HOLY SHIT, SOME IDIOT JUST SPENT A SHIT TON OF CASH ON THIS DECADES OLD FRANCHISE, BETTER GET A COMIC OUT STAT!"
They have MCU, they don't give a shit about your money.
They could at least bring the reruns back on Disney XD, upgrade them to HD status, and promote the already existing 78 episodes as a new show because kids never watched Gargoyles. If kids love comic books they will love Gargoyles.
Don't forget Star Wars, Disney Parks, and those live action remakes of their animated movies. Gargoyles didn't deserve to get fucked so hard.
I think Gargoyles is the only reason people remember The Disney Afternoon fondly. None of the other shows came close to being as good as Gargoyles
The Goliath Chronicles isn't on DVD though
That's not how television works. I'd kill for an HD remaster of the show, but knowing them they'd stop at some random part like halfway through season 2 and cancel everything because of low sales. Disney XD sucks anyways.
There is a reason Disney buried the Gargoyles IP and actively seeks to suppress it from seeing the light of day again. That reason is not irrational hatred of the property. It's business. The people making the decision to bury it are accountants who think in terms of spreadsheets, and their spreadsheets are telling them that using this IP would cause more harm to their bottom line in the long term than good, even if it is financially successful in the short term.
What about introducing the franchise to kids who have never seen it before? They can advertise it as a new show using the HD remasters of the 78 episodes
Here's the thing. Gargoyles was better than DuckTales, yet DuckTales has recieved toys by Funko, a reboot, a new comic book, and a remastered video game. And Gargoyles gets nothing despite the fact that Gargoyles was way more popular during its height of popularity than DuckTales was at its height of popularity
Gargoyles was designed from scratch to compete with properties that Disney has since acquired. There is no reason to revive Gargoyles because Disney has currently active IP's that target the exact same demographic that Gargoyles was intended to capture. Reviving it now would be redundant and might even undermine the objectives they hope to accomplish with their Marvel stuff and others by splitting audience attention and/or focusing too many resources on capturing an audience that is already captured or in the process of being captured.
>Gargoyles was way more popular during its height of popularity than DuckTales was at its height of popularity
I don't believe this. Source?
What about including the Gargoyles in the Marvel comics? Greg Weiseman still wants to do the Gargoyles last time I checked
There was a fan convention that happened from 1997 to 2009 and at the height of its popularity, so many people cosplayed as the characters and it had the biggest internet fandom of any Disney Afternoon show at the height of its popularity
That's the cult fanbase made up of fans who watched the show when it first aired, probably as kids. It's dedicated but it's pretty damn small and not the audience Disney would want to cater to. The statement about it being the most popular Disney Afternoon show is most certainly false especially since you have no proof to back it up. Gargoyles had it's time. If it came back now everyone would probably hate it. Give it up, user...
No I won't give it up. I don't want a new TV series, all I want is a new comic book series
Also none of the other Disney Afternoon shows were really that popular. Quack Pack anyone? How about Shnookums and Meat and Bonkers? Gargoyles was the only successful Disney Afternoon cartoon even though it had a small, but loyal fandom.
Gargoyles could be popular today, the tumblr crowd would love it.
Also you forgot about the fact that kids haven't seen it and they NEED to. Disney needs to introduce the series to kids and I think it's a gaurantee that kids will love it cause it feels like a superhero comic book. I'm going to try to get as many kids into it as I can
See, now we're talking. Gargoyles is the perfect show for today's Tumblr crowd. It has lore and complex character development.
Also Disney. WE NEED THE FUCKING THIRD SEASON ON DVD. GET YOUR LAZY ASSES OFF THE COUCH AND MAKE THE FUCKING DVD NOW!
>Gargoyles was the only successful Disney Afternoon cartoon
What about Ducktales, Darkwing Duck, Chip and Dale, Tailspin, Goof Troop and more?
>Xanatos will remember that
Not as successful as Gargoyles. Not.....even.......close. If you want to know the second most successful Disney Afternoon cartoon at the height of popularity, it was Gummi Bears because it was an influence for Gargoyles
Uh...whatever you say buddy.
They should do a crossover where The Hulk meets the Gargoyles
Gargoyles is still a dead franchise and I am pissed off!
What the fuck are you going to do about it?
Get as much kids as I can to watch it
Objectively wrong crossover
i've been watching it on kisscartoon.com or whatever
and? What cha' think so far?
Hudson basically looks like this under his armor, right?
It was revived as a comic book?
Yeah, considering one of the gargoyles is canonically gay.
Yep and Disney canned it cause they hate the franchise
I wish they just left it alone. I'm at a point where I get concerned or scared they're going to reboot and screw up things I loved. I'M d rather just remember it as is than see some else try to update something for a modern audience. You say reruns but noway is it going to rest at that. You're talking Duck Tales or Power puff Girls at best and Ninja Turtles or Power Rangers at worst. I'd prefer it just beleft alone.
"Xanatos will remember that" Just stays on the screen, no matter where you are or what you are doing.
You say that like it's a bad thing. Let's just all agree that little mistake was never made and focus on the original 65.l
and risk a Michael Bay live action movie with 2 mins of Gargoyle footage?
thanks but no thanks
I always assumed that this was the case, yes.
...
>Disney once uploaded every episode of Gargoyles to their youtube channel for free
>now they've taken those down and charge per episode
Why should I support this Jewery?
That means investing resources into advertising it to keep it relevant into the minds of viewers, which means less resources left for other properties, and that could eat into the profit line.
Uh, nope. These are SD. Real fans just torrented tv recordings, then bought the dvds when they came out so we could watch whenever we wanted. Screw paying AGAIN for the "privilege" of waiting for inconvenient tv air times. Waste your money if you have more of it than sense.
Wouldn't a X-Man crossover bet more suitable?
That boring shit should have been killed in production. Disney was getting a big budget from ABC...and THAT shit is what they wasted it on when it came to their best show? Aladdin got a MUCH better ABC run...but that crew had the sense to not gimp they storylines and keep using interesting antagonists, like fan-favorite Mirage.
Their best show, yet they fired the entire crew behind and replaced it with their own yes-men.
