DESU, I never liked the art style as a kid. Everyone looked so...puffy.

It had some top notch voice acting and storytelling. A shame about the animation and fight scenes. I'd say it deserves a continuation with more fluid animation and the no punch rule lifted.

The first version of the intro was shit but got better when they used more clips from the show. The style and design was incredible and really channeled the look of comic characters well but jesus fucking christ did was the animation choppy.

Not to mention the censorship and the rushed pace of the writing sometimes.

From some point forwards the show didn't even have standalone episodes anymore, just one 4-5 part arc after another.

I specially enjoyed Peter's design; it perfectly conveyed the awkward, nerdy persona that defines Spidey's alter ego

Peter was pretty much that ugly duckling scenario but even after becoming this handsome swan people still treated him like a duckling.

That whole ark of Spidey mutating into a monster was the best thing in the show

He was a twig before the Spider bite and so socially oblivious it made sense, and he didn't score a date with MJ, Aunt May scored him the date and he was dreading it.

When they inevitably reboot the cinematic Spidey I hope they don't just do the same thing everyone expects them too with the green goblin and doc oc and venom
Maybe they can use kingpin or do some of the wierder arcs

I wasn't really a fan of it when I watched it. It's absolutely not the worst Spidey show out there, there's like at least five that are worse, but there really wasn't much for me here.

It had it's moments though. As a Carnage fan I absolutely love how they handled him despite how overly censored the show was. I forget the name of the guy who voiced him, but he fucking nailed it especially with that laugh.

It's kind of hilarious how much of this opening is Spider-Man crashing into things and eating shit.

Feels accurate for the character, but you don't usually hype up your hero that way in an intro.

Even from the intro you can tell which episodes had higher budgets.

I really wish more writers would realize that Peter has what is essentially a fitness model's body.

I feel like a lot of the characters in the show were too fit. There didn't seem to be enough varying body types.
They even put Doc Ock in armor just to give him that same body type.

The nostalgia goggles for this show is something else. None of the 90's Marvel shows were good animation or writing wise

90's Spiderman was entertaining as shit but its writing was wonky as hell

The show had some pretty bad animation, and even resorted to sloppily reuse footage.

He had the standard complement of laser guns and explosives that just knock people around.

It's implied that he killed people off-screen, as Micro at one point tells him to "use the non-lethal ordinance for a change" or something.

A thug also jumped out a window and willingly turned himself over to the police rather than face him.

Micro wanted to give him some good publicity and told him to use non-lethal weapons, which frustrated him immensely. JJJ also wanted the Bugle to make the Punisher look like a hero and Robbie shot that idea down quickly after pointing out how long Frank's rapsheet was. Frank was also prepared to Frank Spider-man until Kraven stepped in to stop him.

I don't know how showing a bunch of clips out of context shows that the writing was wonky. Though, I do understand that there was a complaint of pacing, though I didn't really have any issues with it. I guess it's because I didn't view them as individual episodes, since they weren't. You've gotta watch it act at a time instead of episodes.

There are other ways to cut corners, and if you're going to reuse footage, at least do it efficiently. Don't constantly reuse the same shot of Venom talking without having the mouth movement match the dialogue or have Peter look down the hallway only to see himself walking down that same hallway.
