Next: Humphries' run begins

>It's my home
Until DC wises up and moves Dick somewhere else. Bludhaven isn't a good enough concept to last.

Get this implied cuckery out of my Nightwing.
At least Dick/Shawn is over.

What the fuck how did Raptor get hit that he falls like that?

wtf is with the lettering in this issue?

kek that missing umlaut

I didn't hate Seeley's run here, but I do think it kind of faded. The fact that I HATE Fernandez's art doesn't help at all. Why did To not come for another arc! That would seriously have lifted the book!

While I don't mean Dick getting his own cast of supporting characters centered around Nightwing instead of Batman, this gang of Shawn and notMoon Girl and whoever is kinda lame

so raptor had sex with dicks mom?

Thanks for the storytime OP.

I really like this cover

Raptor gets a credit for who created him???

Anyone else dropping this book after this issue? Who actually wants to read Dogfucker on Nightwing?

Dogfucker is getting good artists so I'll at least check it out

No Shawn you were best girl after Helena. Dogfucker better not want to make dickbabs a thing again unless there's a wheel chair involved.

>first panel
hnng

>My only regret in life is that I had....boneitis

>Futures' End callback
Neat

>bl[]dhaven
how did they miss that?

Da fuck happened to Pigeon's speech bubble?

wtf pigeon

So wait Dick has his own team now? Oh they dead next run.

People who read his Green Lanterns? Really if you look at his books you can see that he was improving, so I believe that GLs wasn't a one off good book from him

Kinda sad that Seeley had to waste a page on his last issue and conclusion of the entire run on a recap page

Cool fucking font pack, DC

I can forgive the occasional oversight, but jesus christ this issue is a clusterfuck of mistakes

Wasn't a bad run, but I don't mind someone different. Book was on the level of first three Grayson volumes.

I thought Svoboda said that she wouldn't contact Nightwing anymore because seeing him made she wants to cheat on her husband.

What changed?

kek

Maybe she got the pussy under control and realized working with the superhero would actually benefit the city.

>The fact that I HATE Fernandez's art doesn't help at all.
Sotomayor's coloring bails him out massively since #1. Really good job, neon city being colourful in the right way, bright colors on suits popping when they need to, everything being toned down in right moments. Fernandez issues would look like trash with someone less competent.

>I arrive in a cloud of doves to destroy monuments to all gods but me.
So she takes a massive shit on statues?

Agreed. The look of the city, specifically the colors, has been the best part of this run. It makes it stand out from Gotham and NYC that we see so much of in comics.

Making it Vegas was the best idea Seeley had. Still not that interesting but at least it's a start.

It's Atlantic City, which it always technically has been, but they've done an awful job of making it feel any different except there's more scenes near the ocean in Dixon's run.

How's the art in Dixon's run? I know McDaniel drew a lot for it, and I really dislike his style.

Like you said McDaniel's art is very love it or hate it. He's responsible for some aspects of Dick that have become signature: drawing Nightwing's acrobatics with multiple figures to represent motion, and drawing him as super flexible and with a quality ass. But the art can be really hard to follow sometimes.

Their take on Bludhaven was "Gotham but worse" and it just looks like a generic shitty city like Detroit.

Terrible for the most part.

Like you said McDaniel drew most of it and a lot of the earlier issues have so much disgusting yellow like and I don't understand why. Then Land drew some and while he didn't blatantly trace tons of porn and his own stuff like he does now, his art was never all that good and he did trace some things (but it wasn't as obvious).

>Bring back a team of d-lister villains who are trying to get their shit together, including fucking Orca who end up saving the city together and getting redeemed

>Killed off by the next writer to tie up loose ends because lol who gives a fuck about d-listers
>next arc is about a serial killer

I'd be mad.

>>Bring back a team of d-lister villains who are trying to get their shit together, including fucking Orca who end up saving the city together and getting redeemed
All in all, this is a pretty good idea.

well even though they didn't get a LOAD of exposure here, the run offs are one of the things I liked about this run.

waat? Dick is his son?

I just got the impression that he hated himself for never beng there for dick atfter his parents bit it. He was a coward.

No, he’s Snape.

Not really. It seems like Raptor and Dick's mom were more involved that originally implied.

That was okay. I liked Seeley's run fine, but I also never felt the urge to rush out and buy the trades or anything. I'll stick around and see what Humphries does, but I may not keep it up for as long.

I've lamented in previous Nightwing threads, but one of the problems I have is that I really like Dick as a character, but I'm never sure what kind of status quo I think works well for him. I don't find Bludhaven a particularly compelling setting, and in a lot of ways I do like seeing him compared/contrasted with Batman (while also acknowledging that the idea has been done and there's not much to gain from constantly retreading it). So I'll be curious to see what Humphries does.

>Shirtless Nightwing
thank u Seeley

Reflections of WHAT SEELEY

Ouch, the good old Hank Pym Special.

Raptor goes to the pymtron school of Throwing Hands

>yfw the run-offs are all killed off by the serial killer in the next arc immediately so Humphries can get a clean slate on his cast

So Dick's mom named her son after Raptor, another man she had or was having sexual relations with? Am I reading this correctly?

Is Raptor dead?

Sounds like how old-school Hellblazer would handle creative team changes

lol

This is Seeley's last issue isn't it?

yup

that's on the letterer and editors

Nah he doesn't like ever talking about Dick's ships, I bet he won't ever show any romance in his run and will only tease stuff during guest appearances and such

they were still kids/teens at the time, judging by the art, so I think it's more like if Dick named his daughter Babs or Kory because she was important to him.

it's in her name, that's why Seeley thought she was interesting and probably why he decided to ship her with Raptor, they're both anarchists (in their own ways)

bump

This is a shame, I really liked Shawn. Think she's been the best ship for dick since Nu52 started. I hope to god they don't do DickBabs fuckery. Unless they cripple the bitch again.

I kind like before it went to shit, but I also like him with nu52 Helena as well. Weird considering I felt nothing about them before the reboot.
Barbara should stay really far away though. It's time to move on already.

I just hope Shawn and Orca make it

relatively new to comics...who's considered Nightwing's arch-enemy?

No one. But probably Blockbuster for some dumb reason.

Dick's arch-enemy has always been DC editorial

If you want an actual character, it depends on the era of comics you're reading.
40's through 70's he was just Batman's sidekick and DC wasn't doing anything with him.

80's it was probably Brother Blood
90's it was easily Blockbuster
00's it was probably Deathstroke
10's he's been all over the place. No arch-enemies but plenty of best-frenemies.

>Is Raptor dead?
duh

Thanks, anons

Deathstroke used to be but during the 00s he got too powerful and popular for Dick
Some writers tried keeping the relationship going but it just kinda went ehhhh since it's just like "why doesn't he just kill Dick if he hates him bc of his children". Bludhaven blowing up and two encounters when he was Batman was pretty much the last thing with them from 2006 to basically 2017 with Lazarus Contract.

Finally it's fucking over. What a boring run.
>Humphries
Oh come on.
Will "Nighwing" will ever have a good writer? Or are we struck with mediocrity forever.

Dick is one of those characters who is popular enough to be mediocre and still sell well and why put good writers on him when good writers can be put on Batman?

Hmm, I'm new to comics.
I thought I'd like Nightwing. But yeaa this isn't for me.

Actually yes.
Waid pretty much said his Nightwing pitches were always rejected because DC wanted him, an A list talent at the time, on books that mattered. Nightwing always gonna be stuck as a Batman satillite. Dickbats both times happened because Morrison and Dixon (the Batman writers) wanted him as Batman. And even then with Morrison's time they stuck him on a second rate JL with Kara and Donna because they didn't want to sully Clark and Diana.
Grayson seemed to be the first time editorial actually TRIED with Dick and it was good but we all know how a vocal part of his fanbase felt about it.
