All this year I'll be posting Punisher storytimes. Most of them will be from the pre-Ennis era, but there'll be some Ennis era stories as well. Expect at least 1 storytime per week.
Yesterday we read The Punisher War Zone Annual #1, which featured some surprisingly good writing including a cover story with a tragic ending, one of the better tales Steven Grant did on any of the Annuals/Specials/etc., and The Punisher falling in love with a hooker (seriously). You can still read it over here: Today we're gonna read the next War Zone Annual. It features the return of Thorn, who you might remember as the "frozen" dude from Chuck Dixon's original run on The Punisher War Zone.
It also has a couple of backups, including one written by Steven Grant. So a pretty promising looking issue in general.
You can also read all of The Punisher Annuals, which I've storytimed over the past week, in these threads: And for anyone who's wondering, no, The Punisher War Journal did NOT have any Annuals, so we're finished with the Annuals after today and will be reading other stuff for the rest of the month. And remember, I'm gonna try to post 1 storytime per day for the remainder of this month, so make sure to check up on Sup Forums every day if you want to catch them all.
I don't see how dead nerve endings and amnesia turns you into the Terminator, but carry on Dixon, carry on.

Why hasn't Sal Caboni/Thorn come back? He's cool in the first arc of War Zone, cool in this. He's clearly left alive at the end. Did Rosalie Carbone die around Countdown? I know she was in the replacement Punisher arc.

lol, my accidental jokes were on point.

>Did Rosalie Carbone die around Countdown?
No. During the Ostrander run. But that was fucking garbage.
Adrian Ward
To this date that's the only full run I haven't scoped on ebay or even bothered to read. I know all I need to from word of mouth or sites like marvunapp.com.

I was just reading some old Moon Knight issues I picked up last night, and it took place in that country. Makes me remember when Marvel had some hints of continuity, even if that was also written by Dixon.
Joseph Bennett
>Why hasn't Sal Caboni/Thorn come back?
You don't come back from Newark.
Nolan Cook
Old Greg does not look happy.
David Taylor
Anything done with The Punisher after Countdown and before Welcome Back, Frank is just straight up not worth reading.
Isaac Jenkins
That's almost depressing to think about.
Chase Torres
I like that cover.
Sebastian Martin
heh

I kind of want a running gag of Thorn just randomly showing up whenever Frank is in the middle of something, and the two duking it out until the slasher film-style "The End... Or Is It?" conclusion.
I guess he could be a mutant or something, and nearly dying activated his powers.
Kevin Taylor
Nice pin-up.
Oliver Carter
Cover story was not half bad.
Henry Long
That is a big fucking dude.
Aiden Mitchell
This is fucking ridiculous.

You could probably form an entire team of Punisher villains who never came back and got their comeuppance.
Logan Torres
Well that was sort of a weird story.
Gavin Johnson
No problem.
Zachary Cook
that pose, holy shit.
Samuel Jones
The most surprising thing about reading old Punisher comics is how many characters are officially still alive.
Adrian Gomez
It's probably the most over-exaggerated kung fu pose ever lol.

A writer needs to get some intern to read every 616 Punisher story and take a note of which villains from decades ago actually survive so they can do a mini-series that's nothing but Frank tracking them down and killing them.

I once had an idea for a kind of over-the-top "splatstick" running the gauntlet series where some wannabe crime lord or supervillain who wants instant cred hires a bunch of Frank's old, forgotten foes to kill him under the assumption that, hey, they survived one or two run-ins with him in the past, so they must have something going for them, right? NOW IMAGINE THEM TEAMED-UP.
