I liked the idea Mark had for Luke's entrance in TFA.

Threadly teminder that TLJ was shit and katheleen kennedy and rian johnson need to be torn apart and beaten within an inch of their lives

It wasn't kino and I'm a bit sad.

I'd be fine with that but with the way the current EU is going we're never going to get some decent books. They're just lazy cashgrabs between movies.

I mean seriously, what was the big book tie-in for TLJ? Fucking Phasma? It was so

>Supreme Leader

there were kino moments

but overall it was not kino

...

Reminder Jango Fett is superior to Boba and Chode Phasma.

Fact.

bad

yes

Please elaborate, my man

He got into a fucking fistfight with Obi-Wan. For that, he will always have my respect.

Will JJ save Star Wars again and get back the normies love Rian lost? I'm sure if JJ wasn't so busy with other movies Disney would probably give him a new trilogy to direct

There was nothing fundamentally wrong about the middle one and you know it. Hangers are open space and flying through it at that speed is not an issue.

It is a good lesson because everyone has to learn it at some point in life. You will lose some day. Some day you will fall down and be broken. It happens even to Jedi. But when that happens you shouldn't wallow in self pity and hate yourself for your failure, you should use it as a learning experience and promise to make tomorrow a better day.

Only kino moments I remember was hyperspace kamakazi and the not ATAT stand off.

The Falcon canyon was nice too, that part I liked but may be nostalgia.

>normies lost
user, you can't be this foolish

>kino

I want this meme to end, GOD DAMN1

i miss the Luke from Legends. Well maybe not from near the end

I don't have the link, but basically I think he comes out of hiding because of Leiax he sees Han's death and is too late to stop it, and then shows up and force grabs Anakin's lightsaber from the snow.

>but may be nostalgia.
Of course it was, since Williams forced it on you with reusing the theme from ROTJ

Kino post, my dude, VERY kafkaesque if I dare say

Most likely that Mark thought Luke would be the one to pull his lightsaber out of the snow and fight Ben, rather than Rey doing it.

First time in one of these threads since watching TLJ, loved it. Do people here hate it because it was good or love it because Reddit hates it?

So we're all prepared for Lando and Chewie getting killed in the Falcon in the most humiliating and pathetic way for Episode 9, right? It'll probably be a post-credit scene where they're just doing maintenance and the whole thing blows up in their face

Name 5

What's the Sup Forums opinion on The Last Jedi?

>you should use it as a learning experience and promise to make tomorrow a better day.
that's contingent upon you not literally dying, which is just about all the resistance manages to do, teaching kids to accept failure happy as you rush headlong into a meatgrinder is puerile

Luke could barely stand seeing a saber again after that time he shacked up with a random widow and her kid ignited Luke's lightsaber through his own forehead.

Would've been improved by including the Vong

People hate it because it was bad.

I mean when I first saw VII I legit thought that could happen given the lack of Luke during the movie, shit would have been very based

This was before that was written

There's nothing fundamentally wrong with anything in that image.

It was the only 'fun' part within the sea of being sad cuz X or a twist reveal.

But user, Snoke IS the Vong! The first to arrive, utilizing their advanced bio-science to simulate Force abilities. What, you thought he was injured to get that fucked up? No, my friendo, that was Vong ritual self fucking-up.

Does death matter to a Jedi? And the reason the Resistance is so tiny at the end of the movie is because Poe refuses to learn this lesson of accepting failure and retreat as an option and pushes on to the point that he nearly destroys the entire Resistance. If he had accepted weakness and retreat the Resistance would have survived to be much larger at the end of the film.

It took the Resistance lots of sacrifices until they learned that they should do that whole not-dying thing that Rose applied towards Finn.

>hyperspace kamikaze
>Luke clowning on the First Order
>Rey in the infinite mirror
>Yoda's whole scene
>Jackie Chan

I wish it wasn't the way it was.

The Last Jedi was unironically kino

Wrong. Mark needed an elaborate backstory for Luke in order to properly get into character for his less-than-a-minute frown stare at Rey in TFA. This is fact.

I think Rian put the drama of his own movie above staying true to the legacy characters. He wanted things to shake out in a certain way, and forced Luke into a position that suited the narrative he was writing, rather than be respectful of Luke's journey in the OT.

>"The three flashbacks were a late addition - One of the last things that went into the script before we started shooting. It’s similar to Rashomon, but the actual story motivation was that I wanted some harder kick to Rey’s turn: ‘You didn’t tell me this.’ I wanted some harder line that was crossed - a more defined thing that we could actually see - between Luke and Kylo. I didn’t want to do a big flashback. So one flashback that you repeat three times but that’s just one moment seemed more right. Ultimately, the only one who lies is Luke, in the very first flashback, where he omits the fact that he had a lightsaber in his hand. Kylo is basically telling the truth about his perception of that moment." - Johnson

From the TLJ art book posted at the start of this thread: imgur.com/a/vUTHA

They really have no idea what to do with Phasma. I hope she stays dead.

>snoke theory fags

Was Phasma in TLJ? Did they give her the character and screentime they promised she would get in TFA?

I don't recall any epic ladder based combat, user. Explain.

Yes. No.

Thanks JJ

She had two scenes and died a Disney death. Less screen time and lines than in TFA

True.

Phasma shall never die! Her armor is so super awesome she'll survive the destruction and rocket around in ship mode while screaming "TRAITOR" at the very stars themselves.

>the lesson of TLJ is to accept the no-win scenario and roll over and die

Why did they hype her up as a main character in the new trilogy then?

>"Pass on what you have learned. Strength, mastery. But weakness, folly, failure also. Yes, failure most of all. The greatest teacher, failure is."
>the hyperspace jump
>"The Rebellion is reborn today. The war is just beginning. And I will not be the last Jedi."
>final shot with the kid
>Kylo making red 'blood' marks on the ground of Crait while Luke doesn't leave footprints

You're welcome.

That's the good thing. If they want and need it, she can easily return. She wears blaster-proof armor, after all, so her armor can withstand heat well (except for that part that has been knocked off).

So we might have gotten a version where Luke straight up tries to kill Kylo and lies about it to Rey?

Also did we ever get any sort of confirmation as to what Kylo saw in the dark side that made him want to turn? Was it just generic "power to take over the galaxy" shit?

No one ever hyped Phasma up as a main character. People hyped themselves up when they saw her armor.

>The Rebellion is reborn today
>kino

Fuck off. Nobody likes the fact that we're back to square one with Rebels vs Empire but this time the Empire doesn't have an Emperor and the Rebels' Mon Mothma is going to die off-screen between movies.

Fuck Rebellion stories. We should be done with that by now.

Kennedy and JJ said she would play major role in the trilogy. They marketed her a ton.

learn your memes, son

Still better then tfa

there isn't even a rebellion, its a dozen Marlboro men and some poultry against nu-jacen

>People hyped themselves up when they saw her armor.

No, it was all the media publications and Disney pushing this super badass female character, only for her to turn out to be the comedic relief.

This time, the Empire's Emperor is the Darth Vader who succeeded at killing the Emperor to become the Emperor.

The entire trilogy ao far is guilty of that

>[Lucasfilm President Kathleen] Kennedy has big plans for Phasma and confirmed that the captain will carry on into the next movie. “She’s an important character, a baddie in the best sense of the word.”

>Phasma's armor is made from the hull of Sheev's personal ship
>turns out they included the engines too

I can dig it. This means she'll be in perfect Iron Man form to chase Poe as he destroys the Starkiller II weapon in Episode IX.

As someone who liked TFA, I really did not like Last Jedi.
>>Casino plot took forever and didn't go anywhere
>>Snoke, Phasma, Rei's parents, how'd they get Anakin's Lightsaber were all pointless.
>>Too many moments of a character with a slingshot taking down an army.
>>The entire resistance fits on the Falcon.
>>Too many themes that didn't mesh well.

I just did not like this because this film pretty much guarantees that Episode 9 has no legs to stand on. Especially since Hux and Kylo are the last villains.

Will they fuck?

The Empire's Emperor is a spoiled brat who can't control his autism

objectively, subjectively and metaphysically incorrect.

Jackie "Ladder Factory" Chan is a meme, son.

That too, of course.

I hope so.

>People hyped themselves up when they saw her armor.

Can you blame me and others tho?

That's a fucking No Man's Sky level lie!

3/5

Sorry user, you gotta retake this course.

I didn't like TFA at all, found TLJ to be markedly better in every way, and I still think TLJ is a flaming pile of dog shit.

I've said this before and I'll say it again:
JJ Abrams put Star Wars in the toilet
Rian Johnson flushed

I used to believe that TFA could be retroactively rendered good by episodes 8 and 9 being so phenomenal as to make TFA excellent, instead Rian shat all over JJ's abortion resulting in competing piles of shit.

Probably ontop of Chewie after he gets turned into a fur carpet

Name 10 things that aren't Jackie Chan

I hope not

What? She got to party with Finn one last time and set him up for a quip. How much more important did you NEED than that?

Hopefully, it's the only reason I want to watch IX.

>>Wealthy people are evil
>>You should have elected Hillary

Why is it that whenever a Republican takes the white house, all media becomes preachy as shit?

If Kyller Ben's sexy upper body didn't sway Rey to the Ben side, then nothing ever will.

people have been railing against the MIC since the 60s

TFA and TLJ will age poorly.

It's all I want in IX. If Ben lives, is redeemed, and becomes Reylo then the film will be a success.
Think I'll be happy, Sup Forums?

The Last Jedi visual dictionary hasn't been uploaded to the MEGA yet. Anyone have it?

If they're smart they won't do a big spacebattle "rebels versus empire" thing and instead do a very character focused movie based on Kylo and Rey dealing with their force shit. The empire is being run by an unqualified man baby and the rebels are down to like a dozen people. It needs to be very character focused for it to work.

Everything pre man's discovery of the ladder, user. Boom, simple.

The real question is did Jackie Chan pop into being when the first ladder was invented, or was it the other way around?

So nothing's changed?

learn your memes, son

...

The /swco/ mega cannot withstand Disney attention of that magnitude!

A huge dissapointment in a lot of aspects but still better than TPM and ATC

They've both aged poorly already, and in 10 years people will not look upon them fondly at all. They won't even have the benefit of a satisfying conclusion now that they've thrown all chances for that out the window.
