Dumbing of Age: It's Not Dead, Sadly

I was gone for a while, but unfortunately I'm back with two weeks worth of DoA. Maybe something will have happened now.

This DOA thread begins with Billie, a known bisexual, holding a phallic object in her mouth.

man fuck off

I guess this is also a thing where Joyce is gonna freak out about her toe, I guess.

N-no.

Fuck off Willis, we don't want to read your comic

Joe is here to provide a recap of everything we've already forgotten about and were better off having not held in our memory.

Did you know Willis tried advertising DOA on Sup Forums? We all remember it happening, but the actual advertising images are lost, sadly.

To profess his disgust at the concept of Joe and Amber being step-sisters, Danny immediately evacuates his stomach contents with the force of a projectile. This is less impressive than it sounds.

>I don't want this body
Oh, but I do

Joe continues to see through the bullshit of Willis' machinations by calling out Danny's desire to see a homosexual relationship in a world where everybody is already gay and/or bisexual.

She looks good in the 5th panel.

A more serious moment briefly occurs until Willis finds a way to make a joke in the end. I don't even know.

Just stop

Meanwhile, Amber apparently managed to rig up a computer system that hides and deploys her Amazi-Girl costume and hid it in her dormitory closet.

And she wonders how Dina found out about her identity.

N-no!

See, the thing about this one is that I understand what's going on, but given everything else that's happened in this comic I can't fathom why Willis chose to represent it in this manner. The classic case is to talk to yourself in a mirror, but for little reason we have Amber talking to her costume. Not even putting on her mask to talk to Amazi-Girl in the mirror.

It doesn't help that the costume is talking back, either. That's what's really stupid to me, since it implies that in Amber's mind the costume has been talking to her all along. Why not just burn the costume if that's the case?

Meanwhile, filler is used here to illustrate that classes happened and we don't need to see it actually happening.

Willis continues to ruin Joyce by making her out to be kind of a bitch. Also, I guess Dorothy is ruining herself, and Walky is being ruined by Dorothy's ruination. But was Walky even a good character in the first case? I doubt it.

Foreshadowing occurs in the form of Walky saying he needs to leave. That's all that happens.
Oh, I guess Sal reminds us that Malaya is her roommate. And Billie reminds us that she's checking after Ruth?

Mike is still a dick, I guess. Are there any good characters left in this strip?

Oh, Sarah! She's a decent character.
Wait, what was she even doing with Diglett, anyways?

Apparently Amber and Walky had a suicide pact, and Walky's been looking to cash in.

And in the final entry of this bullshit series of strips, Walky negs Amber, which causes her to blush. Given everything that's happened in the past, this means that Amber's going to get BLACKED before killing herself, which means that her entire arc has been one overdrawn homage to August Ames.

Then again, every character is blushing 24/7, so maybe it's just really cold on the roof.

Any guesses about the music? C-D-Am doesn't sound like anything to me.

>little rounder dorothy clone
You attempts to lampshade your shitty art won't work, Willis.

>Make sure she's not dead yet.
One can only hope

>Amber and Walky had a suicide pact
One can only hope.
Wait didn't this scene already happen?

So what are we supposed to be feeling here. Sorry for her and her mental issues, hoping she gets better. Angry because she casually threatens & assaults, and uses her Amazi-Girl persona to hold her 'good' qualities?

All I feel is a bit nauseated as this is another case of what happens when Willis gets bored with one of his waifus. Or maybe since he has a real wife now, he divorcing and destroying all his other waifus or something.

Amber, having long ago equated her sexuality and violent impulses, will now proceed to stalk Walky, eventually culminating in a sexual assault.

Part of me really hopes we see the dissolution of his marriage through the lens of how he treats a fiction character he patterns after his wife.

So has anything actually happened or is this still incredibly boring?
I'm glad that Lucy is here again, at least.

It'd basically be like For Better or Worse, which went pear-shaped once the cartoonist's husband cheated & left her, and her daughter got the hell out of dodge as soon as she could.

Ayyyy, here's my strips for this week!

...

>soyboy
I think you need to take a break from Sup Forums
Good strips tho

last one!

And maybe if this thread stays alive long enough, i can get another one done tomorrow.

>maybe if this thread stays alive long enough
These threads usually don't last long if there isn't anything interesting happening in the comic.

Well, I know what I'm gonna put in the description of my next strip.

Yup, you sure did post my animation reel, hoo wee, you did sure show me.

Unless you're just being nice, then thanks!

I was just being nice.

I want a sweaty Joyce sitting on my face.
Polite sage.

That's not how sage works

The car chase really was the high point of the comic, for better or worse.

...

Willis is aware words can have multiple meanings and folks who aren’t socially retarded can easily figure out which meaning applies to the situation at hand, right? I guess what I’m trying to say is who talks like this?

Who talks like anybody talks in DoA?

People who try way too hard to sound "quirky." If Willis wanted verisimilitude then he should have stuck to one person talking like that and make it noticeable, if he wanted stylized dialogue he should have varied the presentation among characters.

Isn't that basically what Amber is? She got her makeover in Shortpacked right around when he started going out with Maggie, even had a big engagement plot right around his RL engagement.

Also, getting over her emotional baggage, thanks to her dad dying and marrying Mike and having a kid, is as close to a Good End as she's going to get, isn't it?

If the plot ever moved, Danny's Thing could be shifting personas every school year or semester.

>In which we're never going to see Dumbing of Age: Sophomore Year.

It's interesting to see the evolution of Amber's hair into the dried chocolate dome.

if Zaph is a guy now, shouldn’t he have been moved to the men’s dorms? why is he still living in the women’s dorms? or is Willis trying to imply transmen are still women? how very transphobic of him. someone should tell tumblr

>tying a ponytail
>getting ready to get to work

Man why is tying a ponytail so appealing anyway, is it because of what it infers is about to happen?

I'm also amazed by the de-evolution of her glasses. Eye glasses tend to become just a character's eyes after a while in webcomics.

>england isn't in europe

Well it used to be a joke that brits never considered themselves europeans, but now it might actually come true.

crumbs.

This is the only one of these I kinda like. And it's not helped by the execution, I just like the concept of someone hearing an aside as well as the idea of Sarah making a threating posture because Jacob said she cares about someone. It's still presented in the most static, boring way possible.

That would be an interesting and unique presentation.

That's a good question and one that probably could have easily been answered with an email IU's residential administration, which, as we all know, is too much effort for Willis. The recent nature of the transition might have something to do with it along with.

Jump you fat bitch.

You are garbage

The more you say you're garbage the more garbage you are

Jump jump jump jump...

What is the tranny demographic in this universe?

Also I'm curious how Willy will handle reuploading the gender-flip arc of It's Walky, and/or the commentary he'll attach to it.

Three confirmed transfolk.

I've been away for a hot minute
what's this about
>"mary likes you"
and
>joyce's foot

I want to know how stupid this is.

it combines the practical and the stylish, lending a charming, comfortable aesthetic. The exposed nape of the neck and tightly drawn hair combine the appealing elements of a pixie cut with the sensual femininity of long hair.
and the aggressively sexual "get to work" playful attitude and handle grip elements certainly have say.

The ponytail is the patricians choice, along with b-cups and birthing hips.

I like how you think and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

Ruth and Billie opined that Mary's shitty behavior towards Carla might be a negative reaction to being attracted to Carla, and Joyce injured her foot while tagging along with Joe and Jacob to the gym.

So why is Joyce so super mad at Joe for that? Like, she got hurt at the gym. Shit happens. Who holds a grudge over that?

Because she's using it to deflect from her desire to steal Jacob from Raidah and have him take her on a nice romantic evening, where he acts like a complete gentleman so she doesn't have to pay Mike to chaperone again, and ends with holding hands and a chaste yet playful kiss on the cheek in the elevator as he escorts her back to her dorm no later than 10:30pm.

And all it took was Russia undermining our democracy by allying with the far-right. You know, the people who called liberals "Communists" for wanting laws that don't shit on everyone.

It's kind of hard to undermine an election when the general reaction to both candidates was, "Really? That's our choice? Fuck it, I'm staying home."

The last I saw of this comic, fat autist girl stabbed some bystander to death as some form of "justice".

Well, she didn't stab him to death and he's suing her, but yeah.

Who the fuck is Zaph?

I want to see the lawsuit resolved by Amber creating a second superhero persona who straight up mercs the guy.

The FtM trans who's in Billie's new dorm, and looks basically like Faz. (SPOILER: Zaf is Faz spelled backwards. Willis just BLEW YOUR MIND)

Next spring, Danny goes through a Death Metal phase. Come the fall, Going Green is his new Thing.

Who the fuck is Faz? I need a picture, user. I don't want to go find out for myself because quite frankly I can't be bothered to.

>he's suing her
Is that how that works? Do you mean pressing charges?

Yeah, that'd actually a pretty fun thing to do so of course it would never happen.

Ryan's family wouldn't be able to press charges unless Amber's claim of self-defense was ruled invalid. They're suing her in the meantime.

I haven't been on Sup Forums for a while but I thought I'd browse Sup Forums for a sec. I just wanted to pop in and say DOA threads are a trap of hatred. You choose to read Willis's comic even if you're not giving him views and you're choosing to be mad. He will surely continue to suck the Schrodinger's cat-dick of his transsexual characters.

It's fun being mad together.

And while in most cases negative attention is still attention, with Willy and his snowflake fans it drives them that much closer to madness.

...

What the fuck is all of this rambling? It felt like it was going somewhere, but then became nothing and a non answer in the end.

> the cartoonist's husband cheated & left her
what
> her daughter got the hell out of dodge
no? Katie was working for her mom during the comic strip days, and now Lynn and Katie live together in Vancouver
