The presentation of homosexuality in RWBY is truly nuanced and insightful. We have seen it lead characters to evil (Emerald), and we have seen it lead characters away from evil (Ilia). We have even seen it make a fool of someone (May) or simply deployed as a potent weapon in combat (Neon).
I think that a core message that RWBY tells us here is that homosexuality is a powerful force, never to be taken lightly.

Then they take immunosuppressants for a year then step down to a lower dose to take the edge off and they keep going for a good long time later getting a second, third, or fourth adding essentially the entirety of an adults functional life worth of time.

The fourth still hadn't rejected and had he not lost his job to be ravaged by big pharma's overinflated racket for medicines he literally needed for his body to not freak out about the not-his kidney currently inside him he'd have kept trucking until his late fifties, mid sixties then killed himself if he didn't have a baller retirement that could handle the costs going forward.
