All this year I'll be posting Punisher comics. Most of them will be from the pre-Ennis era, but some will be from the Ennis era. Expect at least 1 storytime per week.
Yesterday I posted the Marvel Comics adaptation of the original The Punisher movie starring Dolph Lundgren. You can read it right over here: Someone pointed out in that thread that there was also an adaptation of the Thomas Jane movie. I was already well aware of it, but I had also already decided not to bother storytiming it.
WELL I CHANGED MY FUCKING MIND!
So today we're going to read the 3 issue miniseries adaptation of the SECOND movie based on The Punisher, the 2004 shitfest simply titled "The Punisher", which is the same fucking name that they used for the original Dolph Lundgren movie, which is just confusing, but oh well. This pile of crap starred Thomas Jane and John Travolta and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos and Kevin Nash. It was more or less and adaptation of the story arc "Welcome Back, Frank" from the comics except they took out all the humor and changed the main villain and made it shit.
Anyway, they made a 3 issue miniseries based on the movie, so we're gonna read it. It's written by Peter Milligan (of all people), who also did some Punisher MAX one-shot thing that I can't be bothered to remember, but otherwise I think that was it for his Punisher work. There was also some kind of "promotional" "comic" (read: advertisement that they charged you money for) that was released around the same time. I may or may not storytime that as well depending on whether or not I have time.
Let's just read this fucking thing and get it over with. It can't possibly be any worse than the movie!
Aw, I liked Thomas Jane's Punisher. He somewhat reminds me of Mike Baron's Punisher.

His acting wasn't the problem. He was actually the best live action Punisher actor. The script was another matter. The rest of the cast sleepwalking through their fucking "performances" didn't help things either.

Yeah, he is my favorite Punisher actor. The Dirty Laundry short and ps2 game he did are pretty good.

How's he just walking out of the police station after gunning down two men and throwing millions in stolen cash into the street?
"Frank's our buddy so we gave him a pass" doesn't really work here.

>original Bumpo was 400+ lbs >movie Bumpo was about 300 >this one looks a bit over 200 Won't re-do Welcome Back Frank, won't do an accurate version of the movie, what the FUCK is the point of this?

And that's that.
I'm looking at the "movie spotlight" thing that they put out, and it appears to be not that long at all, so I guess I can probably storytime that as well. Give me a few minutes (like under 10 probably) and I'll be back with the "promotional"/ad "comic" they put out.
Carson Gray
OK, I'd never read this thing before, but I had assumed from looking at it that it was a promotional comic/advertisement for the Thomas Jane Punisher movie. It looks like it's actually for the WAR ZONE movie. So that's... kind of interesting... I guess.
Anyway, I'm gonna post this whole thing. It's not long.
