Might be a long shot, but immense shielding like planetary shields may be capable of protecting against hyperspace collisions (hence why populated worlds haven't suffered similar attacks or accidents). I'd assume a battlestation one the scale of the Death Star would have shields on par with any planetary defense, if not greater.
The Supremacy would be right in the sweet spot where it's small enough by comparison to not boast as powerful shields whilst large enough for it to be accurately targeted by such an attack.
Just realised Mace barely has any lightsaber duels onscreen or in canon. Most of the time he's up against droids. He's only briefly crossed swords with Talzin and Palpatine as far as I know. Lightsaber Duels was a gift in that regard.
