>Mr. Trump was swept to power in large part by white working-class voters who responded to his vow to restore the voices of forgotten people, ones drowned out by big business and Wall Street. But in his transition to power, some of the most prominent voices will be those of advisers who come from the same industries for which they are being asked to help set the regulatory groundwork.
>The president-elect’s spokeswoman, Hope Hicks, declined a request for comment, as did nearly a dozen corporate executives, consultants and lobbyists serving on his transition team, which was outlined in a list distributed widely in Washington on Thursday.
>A number of the people on that list are well-established experts with no clear interest in helping private-sector clients. But to critics of Mr. Trump — both Democrats and Republicans — the inclusion of advisers with industry ties is a first sign that he may not follow through on all of his promises.
>“This whole idea that he was an outsider and going to destroy the political establishment and drain the swamp were the lines of a con man, and guess what — he is being exposed as just that,” said Peter Wehner, who served in the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George Bush before becoming a speechwriter for George W. Bush. “He is failing the first test, and he should be held accountable for it.”
Reminder that CTR is on the payroll until December 10th

>TRUMP HASN'T BEEN TALKING TO US SO WE ARE GOING TO GUESS ON WHO HIS STAFF IS AND REPORT TO YOU DIRECTLY THAT HE BETRAYED YOU >LOOK, HERE IS A GUY WHO SERVED THREE GLOBALIST REPUBLICANS, TWO OF WHICH WENT AGAINST TRUMP TO SAY WHAT WE WANT
I didn't trust the media before the election, and I won't now.

>NYT Having actual business minds in their is not a bad thing. Much better than the hacks like Krugman and Axelrod. We've had enough liberal lawyers and Keynesian economists in the WH to sustain a lifetime of poverty and welfare. About damn time we get people in there who know what they're doing.
It's not guesswork. His transition team is known, it's his cabinet that is unknown.

Same issue Barry ran into, though. You can't find *qualified* people in DC that haven't been involved in lobbying at some point. All the people who know how DC works and are deeply rooted in its politics have been involved in it.
Same reason Obama had to backtrack on his 2008 campaign promise of no more lobbying in the White House (although I'm sure the left will shit all over Trump for this far more than they ever did for Obama).
I think it's way too early to call him a con man, he's just starting to realize the gravity and the truth of the situation (hell, just look at his face when he met with Obama to start the transition). Trump will still have the final say on issues (or hopefully will delegate the decisions out to people who will follow his views and beliefs), and I think he genuinely does want blue collar, working class Americans to be successful.
Aiden Martinez
Seriously Sup Forums this is his first actual test to see what kind of president he'll be. I don't understand why you guys would overlook this sort of thing. Is it the halo effect? Have you given him a honeymoon period where he can do no wrong? You guys should be sceptical as fuck about his pics for this team as it is diametrically opposted to what people expected from him.
Camden Howard
This is a more reasonable response than others ITT. Can I ask you if you think Trump will be able to accomplish his promises or do you think he'll pull an Obama and give in?
Matthew Turner
>Hillary Clinton will NEVER EVER be president
Easton Powell
>Hurr durr, here's a list of sites that lied to you the last 18 months. Surely Sup Forums will trust them now that the election's over.
Henry Perez
Lobbying is kind of a catch-all, what Trump was explicitly against was former politicians becoming lobbyists after their tenure. Besides, hes implied since early in this campaign he was going to assign former banking executives in his transition team. They know how to call shots and solve problems. And besides, do you think they're going to be transitioning his entire term as president? It's a very transient phenomenon
Sebastian Wright
Obama told him to toe the line or get JFK'd.
"Take your pick, you tubby, orange geezer," is what present staffers reported was said.
Xavier Ramirez
>Besides, hes implied since early in this campaign he was going to assign former banking executives in his transition team. They know how to call shots and solve problems source?

Jesus Christ, give up CTR. You failed. Get over it. You lost. We saw through the word-twisting you guys have been doing, we saw through your claims of Trump being racist, and we saw through each and every shit post you made. You have no power here. Give up.
Colton Foster
You guys aren't being reasonable. Now that he's been elected you have to watch him liek a hawk. As of now he's falling into the same trap Obama fell into. That trap is what prevented him from accomplishing many of his "ethic" reform policies, so what makes you think this trap won't prevent, or at least impede, Trump?
Lincoln Nelson
Everyone say it with me!
PRESIDENT TRUMP!
Logan Sanders
Congress is pretty solidly red now too, so I'm sure they'll be able to push a lot of stuff through. I'm sure he will soften his position on a lot of issues, though (this, immigration, etc.). I doubt all the illegals are going back, for example. I could see an amnesty deal or something maybe being worked out for the ones who have built a family here and are otherwise law-abiding, and in exchange maybe getting a wall to help a bit to keep more from getting in.
Trump is probably going to be center to center-right on most issues. People need look no further than his statements before running for president to see this.
Cameron Richardson
wow really made me think, thanks for correcting the record
Colton Kelly
Ben Carson has already been appointed to help repeal and replace Obamacare, funds are already being prepared to build the wall, and as for him surrounding himself with these sorts of people: What, did you think he was going to bring on cashiers from Walmart and Cosco to help advise him in leading the country and seeing his ideas put forward? Of course he'd get people with executive and political experience. How fucking stupid are you? Seriously, how retarded do you have to be to make the posts you're making? Half this thread is just you posting and trying not to have your bubble popped.
Xavier Hill
It was from an early rally. Sorry, don't have the specific time frame but it might have been a Michigan rally. He implied he needed people who know the ins and outs of the political game to help transition so naturally lobbyists come to mind
Joseph Johnson
...is this you, Greg?
Alexander White
Source? You're one stupid fuck you know that? It's in damn near every one of his rally speeches. Jesus fucking Christ just pay the fuck attention.
Justin Howard
>You guys aren't being reasonable. Now that he's been elected you have to watch him liek a hawk Sup Forums is just going to bandwagon what ever policies trump supports. Watch him support some mid-east immigration plan and Sup Forums start cheering.
They aren't going to criticize someone they spent so many hours praising like a god. It's sad, because if trump was held to his positions he could do some great change.
All this "it's not final yet, shut up ctr" is just silencing people who should be holding trump to his positions. It's almost like CTR wants to silence people so trump pushes through squishy appointments.
Austin Cooper
>will be those of advisers who come from the same industries for which they are being asked to help set the regulatory groundwork.
He should have picked people who don't know a damn thing?
Bentley Lewis
>the inclusion of advisers with industry ties
So let me get this straight, you are the crybaby that has been shitposting "Trump has no experience" for the past year, and now you're butthurt that he is reaching out to people with experience to advise on policies relevant to their fields of expertise?
If you're not getting your expers from the industry where do you get them, from the unemployable millenials throwing tantrums in our cities?
For fuck's sake, you liberals are schizophrenic.
Nicholas Flores
Maybe he shouldn't be picking former Obama donors or advisors? Can that be the lowest bar we agree on? Bush advisors?
I'm just worried that Paul Ryan's going to stab him in the back. Ryan seems to think that he doesn't need to listen to Trump's priorities and can ram his own agenda through. Trump's going to need to remind him who the president is.
Logan Taylor
As long as Trump keeps pissing off liberals maybe. But we certainly want him to do what he said. That being said we just went through a campaign and most are still not on full alert and just want a break.
Logan Gutierrez
No. he should pick the most qualified people there are. Fuck you.
Jackson Jackson
>Is it the halo effect?
Fuck off shill, his transition team is full of his children and everyone that has endorsed him, there's one former banker and one hedge fund executive. You aren't fooling anyone your just a hysterical faggot looking for anything to bash Trump with. You may have notice but every single establishment shill politician backstabbed Trump, anyone that did endorse him obviously isn't a part of the real establishment or was at least willing to go against their wishes.
You think he's going to fill his cabinet with outsiders and get cockblocked by congress for the next four years?
>Now that he's been elected you have to watch him liek a hawk.
Maybe we should wait until he actually announces his cabinet, a transition team means nothing other than giving Trump advice, he will still be making the final call.
Now go riot with the rest of the brainwashed sheep and alienate even more white people
Adam Campbell
>Congress is pretty solidly red now too, so I'm sure they'll be able to push a lot of stuff through. I would agree with you if many of his positions weren't at odds with the Republican party of the past. People complained that Obama was prevented from doing a lot of what he wanted to do by the Republicans in Congress and I think what will happen is that Trump will be prevented from doing a lot of what he wants to do from the Republicans in Congress.
I agree with most of what you said after that.
> funds are already being prepared to build the wall funds? also, even if funds were coming that doesn't mean it's getting passed through Congress. McConnell is already showing signs of being opposed to Trump's immigration policies and if he doesn't pull through Conress won't pass that sort of stuff. Repealing/replacing Obamacare will happen because Congress actually agrees with that, but a lot of Trump's policies aren't popular in Congress since he's not a typical Republican.
>Of course he'd get people with executive and political experience. You're giving him the benefit of the doubt that there was no alternative solution. He's well connected and could have picked many people for the jobs. However, he choice people with a conflict of interest and that is worrisome.
I've never once heard him allude to putting former banking execs in his transition team. I don't think I ever even heard him discuss his transition team during his campaign. I'm guessing he never did since you can't link a source.
You're assuming there was no alternative picks like the guy I responded to a few lines up. the assumption might be true, it might not, but you shouldn't give him the benefit of the doubt for this sort of stuff since it's so important. I doubt lobbyists and corporate execs are the only people capable of managing a transition team.
People can be experts in a field without having a conflicting of interest, just like Trump.

I agree his more hardline positions may be at odds with more mainstream members of this party. If he goes more centrist on them, though, I don't think there would be much opposition.
Hell, just use ACA as an example. It isn't a meme that the same basic plan was pushed by Republicans back in the 90s in response to Hillarycare. Republicans probably wouldn't have been nearly as opposed to Obamacare as they were if it wasn't pushed by a Democrat.
Matthew Roberts
Why the fuck would he talk about a transition team? Christ almighty you're a fucking idiot. You don't want him hiring a Commie just because he worked in banking for 40 years.
Grayson Howard
You're suffering from the honeymoon effect. This is his first major responsibility as President elect, choosing a transition team and putting together a cabinet. He's doing something and we should judge it properly.
The ACA is an example of something he isn't ad odds with though. I understand your point though. Is it fair to say you're okay with him becoming more moderate on all issues? If that's the case I don't think you're the average Trump voter, or Sup Forums user for that matter.

Juan Foster
Why the fuck would he explicitly talk about a transition team? No one else has ever done that. Why the fuck would he? You're just a stupid faggot imposing criteria in the past tense.
Landon Price
what don't you understand. someone else claimed trump talked about a transition team and I asked for a source. now you're coming along and bashing me for responding to his claim. if I'm so bad for even questioning him why isn't the person I responded to bad for lying about it. god you're insufferable.

But if there was a way around it I wish he would have taken it.

from what you already said you did not expect this. you expected people with experience in other stuff to work on a transition team for the first time. when in reality there are many people on his team who have worked on transition teams before. you didn't expect this.
that leaves the intercept and yahoo from what I posted
Cameron Davis
He WILL have to deal with lobbyists with special interests and he WILL have to learn about those interests and how they work if he is to repudiate them and then work moving forwards from that.
It'd be insensible to do otherwise.

that's true. so it's fair to say that you're giving him the benefit of the doubt while I'm sceptical. one of us could be right and as of now there's no way to know. but to brush off my concerns is to ignore the real possibility that he could have made the wrong decision.

For whatever it's worth, I've never been a huge Trump supporter. I'd rather him in the WH than Hillary, though, especially because I kind of figured he'd soften on many of his positions. I prefer a more moderate Trump, but may be easy for me to say because as mentioned I was never a hardcore supporter.
