Even if Hillary or Bernie got into the presidency, I doubt either one of them would make SSI living conditions any better. There is a $2000 asset limit in order for disabled people to receive SSI. That means that the government wants people living on SSi to live in extreme poverty and make it impossible to get out of poverty. This limit has been in place since 1989 and has not increased since.

My father gets various government money checks (Army retirement, disability, social security) and that's where the household finances come from. When he inevitably dies in the next few years from his various health problems I'm probably going to kill myself.
