Germany. Pretty much all commercials on music television channels were ringtone ads, there were also whole pages of wallpaper ads in pretty much every youth-oriented magazines, especially gaming ones.

Not that user, but they were reallly big in Germany. Ringtone ads on the backside of magazines, ringtone ads on TV advertisments etc, they were everywhere and both ethically and legally highly questionable. Mainly because the fine print said it was actually a subscription for 20€/month, it was also almost unreadable on a normal tv-screen.
