You have many different units you can end up with.
Within that unit you'll get tasked out to many things depending on that unit's task and purpose.
In my unit you can end up in
- Treatment
- Evac (Ambulance Crew)
- Motherfucking L.I.N.E. M.E.D.I.C
- Clinic tasking in garrison
You report to basic training and do your two months there followed by 4 months of AIT in Ft. Sam Houston. Its not a party AIT like it used to be few years ago. No booze/tobacco (easy to sneak dip though).
First two months of AIT is the NREMT phase where you must obtain your EMT-B licence. If you aren't totally inept you can do it. If I did it without studying outside of class hours so can you.
The next two months is Whiskey phase where you learn combat medicine.
Being a combat medic rocks, you have more autonomy at lower ranks compared to other MOS' if you're good at it. Be good or be good at it.
