Unbelievable Gwenpool cancelled

Sup Forums here, what is Sup Forums's opinion on the series? Why did it fail? I legitimately enjoy the comic. It has probably the best and most unique artstyle, pretty well written heartfelt story, likeable characters, MC with interesting powerset who are not a Mary Sue. She's like the endearing Tomoko of Marvel Comics

I feel like people misjudge the concept by its own cover. Sure it feels like tacky cash in on popularity of Deadpool and Spider Gwen, and espite arguably being a genderflip diversity filler, the writer and artists managed to make the run much more than just so crazy randum memegirl. Also unlike other diversity based runs, the writing is not preachy in any way.

I would argue that she's even better written than comic Deadpool, who hasn't really done anything significant other than CHIMICHANGA LMAO in however many years.

It's a new character. Making it to 25 issues is a miracle, and it's even more amazing that the book made it past 12 issues before the sales dropped below 20k. It went on longer than Superior Foes.

Did you buy it?

Yeah I did buy the paperback volume compilation. Vol 1 of issue 0-4 and Vol 2 from my local Barnes Noble. Did my purchase count or they cancel/renew only based on the $3 issue per issue monthly sales?

Your purchase counted very little. Pull lists, basically going to a comicbook store and subscribing to a book, are what matters the most.

>1 month till last issue

I'm not ready lads

She was/is only good for rule34 because of her girl-next-door attractiveness type.

You're just waifufagging for this entire post and it disgusts me.

>waifufagging
There's nothing wrong with waifufagging. Poole is cute, sure but a show cannot survive on pure waifu pandering, just look at how many trash fetish flavor of the month animes that failed.

The waifus who stood the test of time and made lasting impression all come from decently written series in one shape or the other.

>There's nothing wrong with waifufagging.
From my experiences, I'd be willing to disagree with that.

The major 2 usually have cycles of new and old books, and unless something new manages to pull the numbers well, it's usually destined for finish after 2 years max.
That said, Gwenpoole seemed to at least have a decent stack size every week that went down by an appropriate amount vs other series. (Re: every Inhuman series on the board right now)
The other problem is I think people are starting to really choke when they take their stack to the cash register. When books hit 5 bucks an issue, which I'm pretty sure they're gonna push here soon, you're gonna see a lot more dead titles on the market.

I find the anons bitching about waifu fags more annoying the the waifu fags themselves
Waifu'ing tends to be contained to their threads, but every anti-waifu fag comes into every thread patrolling to make sure there's no violations anywhere constantly.

>I find the anons bitching about waifu fags more annoying the the waifu fags themselves
>le hatedom meme

Enjoy it while you can
Hastings is the only writer who can do Gwen justice
Her guest appearances are awful and out of character aside from the Bendis line

>user one states opinion
>user two sates different opinion and explains why.
>user 3 claims anyone who thinks differently is only doing it for the meme
it must suck going through life being that retarded.

I'm sick of seeing "to be honest this autistic userbase isn't at all as bad as the people who realize it's autistic, they ruin our fun and stuff, they hate fun, fuck where did i put my no fun image? maybe i can get a variant related to this specific argument to be smug about it"

but thats not how a lot of people read comics anymore ....

At least you've found a way to feel superior to both sides.

>it's an user projects SUPER fucking hard and sees a boogeyman where there is none episode.
I fucking hate these episodes.
or maybe it's a
>user hits a nerve with another user, causing an autistic rage
These episodes are a little more fun but happen so often that they got old quickly.

>She's like the endearing Tomoko of Marvel Comics
no wonder I wanted to impregnate her

It really wasn't as interesting as you guys say.

quit being quirky

How long does a comic need to run until it's a success? It had 15 issues, and is wrapping up the plot with Hasting's stuff. Is a comic a failure if it doesn't run forever?

I'm going to guess that it was both episodes mashed up into one.
tell ya what kid, here's one more (you) for your trouble.

Scans of Gurihiru's Gwenpool art book where?

>gwenpoole
sorry i thought you weren't underage

i hate that word these days...

He doesn't even know why he used it.
I'm sure he thought it was a devastating insult.

>Deadpool, who hasn't really done anything significant other than CHIMICHANGA LMAO in however many years.
That's because Disney didn't have the move rights. Now that they got them back they don't need the replacement. It's not that hard to understand

normie tumblr shit glad it is dead

then those people aren't going to be able to use their wallet to vote. Tough shit.

It's a combination of the two.
Comic book companies pay attention to early sales of issues, then they focus upon both trade sales and floppy sales. Trades will of course take more precedence, but otherwise they want to see an immense amount of support.

Word of mouth doesn't cut it anymore, despite what they thought was the case.

What should replace this in my pull, Runaways or Renew Your Vows?

>That's because Disney didn't have the move rights. Now that they got them back they don't need the replacement. It's not that hard to understand
Except that your reasoning is completely fabricated, but sure.

Wait to see what Hastings is on next.

Plot points that probably won't get resolved
>Where is Teddy?
>Where is Earth-616 Gwen?
>Why is there no Earth-616 Teddy?
>How did Gwen originally get to the MU?
>What happens to Tony now that Parker Industries has gone under?

It hurts. I've been waiting for the other Gwen to show up since we learned about the Earth-616 versions.

Runaways is kind of hit-and-miss right now. I'd say to wait a bit and see if the story hits its stride once they finish with the set-up arc.

out of all of those, Teddy is the only mystery i really want resolved. Save the other stuff incase she ever gets revived in a team or solo book.

>Sup Forums likes the most cancerous comic book
of course, why am I surprised

>new character
>uses a design after other character, who used a design after spider-man
wew lad

It was trash

i didnt read it
but i liked the threads about it

>>new character
>>uses a design after other character, who used a design after spider-man
>wew lad
who had never previously existed before and therefore is a new character.

Can we reboot squirrelgirl with hastings/gurihiru

I refuse to believe it’s over, and I know they’ll either relaunch or have a miniseries sequel soon enough.

The series didn't fail. t's just Marvel dong ther relaunch at #1 again gimmick and Gwen hasn't realized it yet.

Correct. Which is why the comics industry is a fucking shit show.

I wish this was the case, but the lack of announcements past this month make it look unlikely user.

Only the Diamond floppy shit
Standalone stuff like My Friend Dahmee sell better

I know some nerds who dropped the book because the editor is a bit of a super cunt.

I stook around to support Doctor McNinja, though.

>he bought the comic
>"but you didn't buy the comic the right way"

Someone storytimed the origin and Gwen as a character was immediately unlikable to me. Like before she donned the outfit. I wasn't motivated to read more. I like and am attracted to the character design cuz I'm a leg man and her outfit is right up my alley but beyond that I've never given her the time of day.

I don't get this meme, what makes her a supercunt?

>It has probably the best and most unique artstyle
Read any manga.

Yeah, that's how it works. The sales that matter most are the sales to stores, and if you aren't letting the stores know you're going to buy it they may not order it.

>what makes her a supercunt?
She's a professional feminist victim. You can't criticize her lack of self awareness or lack of work ethic without being labelled a harasser or sexist. She has white knights at her beck and call. She first became infamous for tweeting selfies of her and her work girlfriends drinking milkshakes on the job.

>fabricated
dude, how new are you to comics?

>i was mean to her on twitter and she reacted exactly how you would expect anyone to react
FTFY

>he called me out on making up 'facts' better claim he's new.

she hasn't done anything to criticize

It was this whole thing. She posted a selfie with her and some work friends, drinking milkshakes. Got some comments and trolls. Then she and the "Milkshake Girls" blew it into this big thing, and then their detractors blew it into this big thing. And everyone spent like three weeks arguing about ethics in drinking dairy.

It was really awkward, but not in a fun way.

>takes a picture of her hanging out with co-workers
>lack of work ethic

>FTFY
t. aforementioned white knight

I'm gonna miss Gwenpool threads.

I know, and could tell that was his reason for not liking her from the post alone.
It's easier to make fun of them when they try to explain why.
>it couldn't possibly be that i'm a shitty person, no everyone disagreeing with me must be a white knight.

This book is hated everywhere by normies

Teddy will return in a new series: TEDpool

m8, "work ethic" and "hanging out with coworkers" are COMPLETELY different concepts

I'd be fine with that.
In his absense, Teddy realizes the only way to get Gwen to come home with him is to beat her at her own game.
but Gwen's meta game is so much stronger than his that he'll never be able to overcome.

>I would argue that she's even better written than comic Deadpool, who hasn't really done anything significant other than CHIMICHANGA LMAO in however many years.

Deadpool has the longest-running decent book in the Big 2. Your Sup Forums is showing.

I thought the cancellation wasn't confirmed?

Yeah. And people complaining about heathers is using them in the same concept. Its retarded and painful to look at

>Sup Forums here
>your Sup Forums is showing
Well duh.

>criticizes the work ethic of others while posting in the middle of the work day

>my timezone is the only timezone that exists
'murrica, everyone.

98370334
>is mad no one cares about his shithole country.

I wonder if ted has the same powers as gwen. But i really hope he has different 4th wall breaking powers
>fighting captain america
>"if vibranium absorbs all energy, that sheild can never hurt me"
>shield is thrown at him but does no damage

>It has probably the best and most unique artstyle
It's generic anime/manga. Literally.

>Waifu'ing tends to be contained to their threads
By which you mean, waifu-fags eventually infest every thread and turn it to shit. Fuckers like you got Endtown and Out of Placers banished to /trash/. You guys even have /aco/ to obsess over your waifu's and post porn, yet you still feel the need to flood nearly every thread with your cringy pin-up spam and "Wut u think her feet smell liek?" ERP bullshit.

Letting waifufags out of Sup Forums was the worst mistake ever made on Sup Forums.

He might have the same powers, but without the greater meta knowledge about comics he can't apply it in the same way.

I bought the Gwenpoole holiday book and was pretty disappointed at how much it focused on other characters and how little she was in it. It's probably my fault for not checking beforehand, but that's why I didn't support the series, cause I couldn't really find much of her as a character

>Fuckers like you
I neither claimed to be one or the other, just said which group I found more annoying

Why do you fuckers project so hard. You're not helping your case for anti-waifu not being the worse cancer.

I hope Hastings spills the details on all the unfinished plots and all the info on the new characters. There's so much I want to know, but I wouldn't want to spam him with questions.

I loved when Teddy first showed up, and we were talking about this. One of the big theories was that he'd be a villain with this power, and his goal would be to ruin the immersion and force Gwen back home.

There's actually a lot of Gwenpool stuff, but it's mostly through games, and a lot of it has her written out-of-character.

But if you want to find more Gwen stuff outside of her book, she starred in the second issue of Edge of Venomverse.

>But if you want to find more Gwen stuff outside of her book, she starred in the second issue of Edge of Venomverse.
and then was basically character assassinated in the rest of the venomverse stuff.

>bleedingcool.com/2018/01/24/gwenpool-mafex-figure-september/
>Gwenpool is getting her very own MAFEX figure form Medicom Toys. She will be available in September for 7,800 Yen, or about $70 US.
Is anybody planning to buy this?

the character itself is based on gwen stacy and deadpool. she can be new, but she is derivative of these two, and without these two, she wouldn't exist.

Probably not, but it's by far the best Gwenpool statue/action figure.

>Teddy is a filthy casual when it comes to comics
>Any time he uses his powers, it's in some correct, but very basic way and/or stuff from the movies
>"Captain America was totally a founding Avenger!"
"Dr Donald Blake? Nope, name doesn't ring a bell. Of course you can come into my secret lair Dr Blake!"

Worse than Sup Forums?

I'd be fine with reading her book if I could find it, but I'm on a very limited budget. I was really disappointed in the fact that a book with a big fat Gwenpoole title on it only had her in less than a third of it

which book was that user?
The holiday special?

I started reading because 'muh oc waifu', but i kept reading because the side characters were more interesting than gwen herself most of the time.

how fucked is inhuman right now?

I had never heard of them until the Inhuman vs. xmen event and controversy erupted. Like i'd NEVER heard of them before then

Yeah it was the holiday special, right after Gwenpoole came out. Like I'd said before, I could probably have checked online before I bought it or something, but I just wanted a comfy Christmas story with a character that piqued my interest.

Possibly. I haven't made the jump into figures yet, but this is less than a third the cost of others that had my interest.

I got her first book for like $5 at my local secondhand store. Hell, i buy most of my comics as tpbs on amazon for half off

That is a fair argument, she was in very little of that.

I have poor impulse control, so probably.

That pissed me off to. Gwen's journey to the North Pole was mostly off-screen, and Batroc's dead daughter wasn't touched on after the Solstice stuff. Instead, we got Miles Morales fucking around, and Punisher watching Gwenpool's seamstress get it on with Fin Fang Foom.

It was less a Gwenpoole holiday special, and more a Holiday Special of other ideas the gwenpoole team had.

She has really cute butt so yes

I liked it.
>Why did it fail?
well, let's see:
>The character's name is a compound of gwen stacy and deadpool, but the character takes on the traits of neither; this means people (fairly) assume she's gwen stacy or deadpool and don't give her a chance, or do and drop it when it's not what they wanted/expected.
>Outside the hastings books (which nobody read because of the first point), gwenpool has an entirely different (and much less interesting) characterization as a selfie-obsessed millenial, causing further confusion and disinterest

I think that's all the major reasons. there's also minor stuff, like the spread of that page where deadpool talks about how crap gwenpool is, or metanarrative plots generally being a hard sell, that could also have contributed.
