Finally, some hard hitting journalism tackling the major problems in comics.

>The onion

Kek.

Didn't they get bought out during the election?

>muh why don“t you just enjoy our propaganda
first time the onion made me laugh but for reasons other then they tried out to

yeah they literally got payed to shill for hill

>Government engineered agents of war

Ultimate was a mistake.

Yeah the 2000's are not a period of cape comics I look back on fondly. Everything swung back from the excesses of the 90's into bland realism or worse nostalgia

But capes are also shit. Only manchildren read those.

Yeah, they're owned by the Austin American Statesman who just reprints WaPo and LA Times articles

I dunno...personally, as an Ironfag, I was having puppies with 2000-era Iron Man comics.

Extremis and Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. were particularly fun.

That description only really applies to Wolverine, the Captain America from Red White and Black and maybe Luke Cage. Out of the other 'Government created' heroes Hulk basically did it to himself, Steve Rogers Cap volunteered for an above board military experiment and I cant recall anyone else major who could fit the mold.

I remember when the Onion could be funny.

>As long the character is still white

KEK!

>Six whole issues of Adi Granov going to town on Iron Man
God damn do i miss good Iron Man stuff.

Except for post OYL DC, it was a lot better than the current decade.

Pierce is /ourguy/

At least we have Clickhole

Yeah, the old GI Joe cartoon is so political. Right? It's not like you can just use military, police, or government (especially fictional ones) as set dressing. No, it's all inherently political and therefore has plenty of room for FUCK DRUMPF.

That's not funny, that's just passive aggressive

I'm laffing m8.

Not a fan of either decade at either company really. I think X-Force/X-Statix was the last Big 2 comic I really loved

Are you enjoying Squirrel Girl or does anyone even bother posting scans on tumblr?

Everything relates to politics, fucking everything.

its true though, its dumb to complain about marvel being too political when thats hows they've made their claimed to fame for normies.

I hate people who think like this so much, framing every little thing as something political is so cancerous and downright mentally unhealthy.

At least they were reading comics.
>Sup Forums-twitter and articles

You are absolutely right
We need every comic to reference current events and make sure we trace DRUMPFS face onto every villain
#resist

How about this user, tell me one thing in your life that is not touched by politics.

>MUH safe space
Freedom of speech snowflake.

It fits a lot of characters, definitely Cap. It doesn't use any language that excludes volunteers or transparency and it really isn't a moral judgement. Cap was an in your face one sided political comic that happens to fall in line with popular opinions about WWII but there were people opposed to the war and to the cost of war in the U.S. one sided brash political opinions aren't new ground in comics or anywhere else and comics targeting young audiences with the politics their likely to identify with is older than x-men and hulk. Both of which did exactly that decades ago. It's myopic thinking this is new or that sales are hurt by people who don't buy comics continuing to not buy comics it's more because the big titles are trying to package an old product in new clothes it's not what buyers want coming up with something new and well written would be one thousand times smarter and more lucrative but that takes creativity, and talent.

yeah, but you're liberal, so you don't matter

>I can choose to interpret anything and everything as political
>That must mean that everything really is political!

>I can choose to interpret anything and everything as the patriarchy
>That must mean that everything really is the patriarchy!

>I can choose to interpret anything and everything as a jewish conspiracy
>That must mean that everything really is a jewish conspiracy!

When will you leftards realize not everything is about you?

my penis.

It's also Marvel chasing short term profit with no concern for how it will bite them. Their focus on relaunches in order to keep getting those hot #1 sales are actively pushing away readers. Usually when Marvel would fuck up you'd have a sudden wave of really interesting comics and a major company shake up, but they're now owned by the most stable company in entertainment so they just continue to push the same shitty strategies.

Not to mention that their "hype machine" now involves them directly leaking spoilers to major events to media outlets to try and get more eyes on the product while ruining it for the active readers.

Everything really is political dumbass, politics relates to the governance of people which means the food you eat, the car you drive, the very air you breathe is political.

About the same time you all stop crying " this isn't made for me" when you see a comic you don't like

>I don't understands politics or how they work

Why are people so proud of their ignorance?

If yoy want to fuck guys then it's political. It's political if you don't want to fuck guys too.

There's good and bad ways to involve politics in storytelling.
Savvy writers inspire discussion and debate, not flat out tell the audience what they should be thinking.
Metal Gear series is a good example of this. But comparing every villain to the president is not.

...

Anti-intellectualism is big in america because no one want to be a fancy college educated elites, they want to be working class heroes so that means you gotta be a fucking idiot.

How political is the act of twerking?

Incredibly, it's a beautiful expression of POC over Western patriachal morales.

>There's good and bad ways to involve politics in storytelling.
And you wouldn't know them if it bit you on the dick. There's nothing concrete to what you're saying.

>About the same time you all stop crying " this isn't made for me" when you see a comic you don't like
Oh the irony from the same crowd that demands representation for their own escapism.

>comparing every villain to the president is not

Yeah, so many of the Marvel writers have this pathetic softball toss approach where you can tell they just want everyone around them to applaud and tell them how good they are. Same with the way BKV shoves modern politics into Saga with zero effort to disguise them as allegorical. It's just " here's a Trans character, everyone look how accepting I AM"

God we need Dwayne McDuffie in this day and age

Public decency laws and censorship. How we view sexuality as a society is still political.

>Thinks saying "Slurping your spoon while eating soup is a political statement, you know" is actually something intelligent and meaningful
Absolute wew, m'lad.
