Bendis set to ruin Superman and have a larger influence on the DC Universe as a whole

Comic books. not only as a publishing format but as an artistic medium, are dying. What can save it, Sup Forums?

Corporate diversity

Not reading cape comics? Try the indie scene and European stuff.

>Comcis are dying

No they arent. Floppies may be, but the medium as a whole has been steadily growing for the past number of years.

The next big marvel relaunch is to introduce the slate of new weeb comics that the shogun is going to try to push in the far east. Western barbaraians like us aren't the audience that marvel wants anymore.

Don't listen to this guy, skip the boring indie shit just go straight to the euro comics.

stop supporting dc and marvel comics

Switch over to digital medium as the main push, not published paper comics. That would cut costs and enable new customers to actually browse a complete library of the comic they are interested in instead of whatever happens to be in the bin/pile/sack when you show up at LCS

comics being delivered to your mail box was a big deal that kept comics relevant in a lot of places. Why can't they make the step to having comics delivered to my email inbox?

if you really like a particular issue, you can have a physical copy ordered. Its not even that hard compared to trying to ship hundreds of comics to various LCS around the continent and hoping they manage to meet the demand for each comic printed.

tl;dr comics want to pretend it is still late 80s/early 90s and do not want to adapt to the internet age because 'muh traditions' and stupid executives who would rather make autistic demands about their favorite characters than actually have big sales.

But Eurocomics are expensive as fuck compared to American comics. Also I have no idea what to read besides whatever 2000AD publishes

This isn't about cape conics you idiot

Because this kills the LCS and increases physical costs for the people that want them. They can charge premiums for special covers and incentive buys. Most people still buy physical copies, until more people buy digital they'll never make the hard switch.

But then what will I have to bitch about here?

>paying for comics

>Try the indie scene
Pfffffffffffhahahaha

>Floppies may be
Floppies are the meat and potatoes of the industry. All sales of hardcovers/trades and OGNs rely on floppies to keep the heart of each company beating. And floppies are fucking tanking.

>Capeshitters

DC and Marvel fanboys were a mistake

>Try the autobiographies of hipsters and post-modern Marxism with porn.
No thanks.

Is anything Marxist like kryptonite to you guys?

hopefully you'll say something stupid enough one day soon.

The reliance on floppies is a much more interesting problem to try and solve. The industry as a whole has gotten fat on double or triple dipping off of floppy sales and then repackaging the same product for the tpb and then AGAIN for the omni.
There's no way that anyone would want to get away from the format because it's so useful to them.

Good comics.

But GN's are undoubtedly growing. That's why companies are increasing OGN output, like DC with the Earth One books. And in Europe its all in that style of format. The industry just needs to adapt to this changing preference in consumption.

>W-why don't you guys like propaganda?

>But GN's are undoubtedly growing
What is the industry definition of a graphic novel?

I'm up in the air about Bendis at DC. He's been at Marvel for waaaay too long, and a change of scenery might do him some good.
He's very likely going to fuck up, and ruin some stuff, though.

i'm pretty sure you can subscribe to series on comixology that will auto charge you when the next issues are released

>He's very likely going to fuck up, and ruin some stuff, though.
Meh, even if he doesn't the usual DC haters will say that.

>people that made comic books cool were a mistake

>Comic books. not only as a publishing format but as an artistic medium, are dying. What can save it, Sup Forums?
I don't know, all I know is that it's too expensive.
Netflix and Amazon are charging $11 a month a piece for near unlimited TV series and movies. 22 pages of floppy has ads in it and I'm done with it in 10 minutes, and it's gonna cost me somewhere between $3-5. The returns just aren't there. And there's enough good webcomics out there that I can just read for free, and not even pirate them.

>Dark Horse losing many of it's popular licensed properties to Marvel
>Robert E. Howard's Conan is officially out of copyright in Europe
>Glénat has announced a series of comics adaptations

I guess that's a 'yes' then.

Nice one.

>Image is nonstop TV show and movie pitches
This is a meme.
>Other publishers have nothing interesting to show for themselves
Black Mask, Aftershock and Valiant have been putting out good comics.
There is also a bunch of good alternative and European comics published by Fanta and some other publishers.

The real question is, why do you like capitalist propaganda?

Because my propaganda won Cold War I.

>Valiant

Maybe two years ago but not anymore. Valiant publishes ongoing anymore. Any books with any sort of interesting direction get prematurely canned and replaced with a mini.

Read manga idiot

And in the long run world have become even more dangerous, hopeless and unstable.
One could call such victory 'pyrrhic'.

Reminder that Marks was a shitty historian who flat-out assumed that England had a peasantry because the rest of Europe did.
