A comic that is both try hard & ass you say? Probably one of the Crossed stories.
Ian Russell
closest I know of its Requiem Vampire Knight. Cause it's edgy as fuck, satanic as fuck, the art gets really oppressive at times. It lacks the lo-fi. So I would put it as 1349 black metal
David Baker
holy shit you /threaded my thread, thanks user Crossed is Death Metal
Colton Ortiz
Stupid sexy Elizabeth Bathory.
Anthony Allen
Black Metal.
Jason Price
oh shit, someone revived my thread?
you can rate me nostaligia black metal for what I'm listnening to
Is that from that shitty comic written by someone who obviously had no idea about what the black metal scene was about who made a comic about azn emo kids being presented as black metallers
Also, fuck black metal OP
Camden Wright
What made you think they Asian? Also the artist is huge into black metal and has done work for metal bands and magazines?
Eli Smith
>What made you think they Asian? Eyes >Also the artist is huge into black metal and has done work for metal bands and magazines? Then why do his characters look like American emo kids, not black metallers? Black metal fans hated death metallers based on the fact that they wore sneakers for fucks sake, yet he draws them as typical trendy youth in hoodies and cropped haircuts when that's everything those Norwegian autists stood against
Parker Hernandez
What is the melodic death metal of comics?
Luke Evans
since the whole Varg shit Black Metal has stopped taking themselves so seriously (for the most part) and most of the over the top black metal stuff is homage. It's not like a BM musician will burn down your house for wearing sneakers.
Also, Sigh is some of the best black metal ever, so don't diss asian black metal
Ian Lopez
a lot of artistic horror comics fit the bill
David Lewis
Black metal bands that take themselves seriously fucking blow chunks
Jack Foster
unless you are Leviathan or Xasthur. Those two I give a pass
Elijah Martin
Theres lots of old comics featured in Heavy Metal Magazine that could be considered black metal.
Ayden Murphy
I have started to buy them again, cause Morrison made it great again
oh good taste. but that's beyond nostalgia at this point, that's classic. So is early Venom. Not sure if Mayhem and Burzum should be considered nostalgia or classic yet. But to be honest I couldn't give a shit about those two. My second wave of black metal is Emperor, Enslaved and Immortal. Those are the keystone for 2nd wave for me
Oliver Perry
That's my preferred type of black metal, the classic stuff that's basically thrash metal. Favorites are Venom, Celtic Frost, Sodom, and Sarcofago
Thomas Moore
That stuff all reminds me much more of stuff typical of bands like Judas Priest than anything black metal, so just....heavy metal, really.
Luke Butler
then that surprises me that you don't like 1349 cause they are thrash black metal but just updated to be a bit heavier like all music trends
Lucas Diaz
Haven't heard them yet. I do like Aura Noir and Darkthrone(Panzerfaust being my favorite album by them), though. I also like war metal(Blasphemy, Bestial Warlust, etc.)
Landon Martin
I can only listen to hard black metal for a couple hours though, then I go back to the more northern stuff like Bathory
Or my fav Woods of Ypres RIP David Gold, I was glad to meet you and the whole suicidal northern black metal scene is actually my dig. Shining, Forgotten Tomb, Woods of Ypres, Etc. I found it weird that leviathan isn't northern cause that sounds cold\
>Darkthrone I think they are the most overrated black metal band in the world, more over rated that early Burzum. Only Nargaroth is worse (save for the one album about the death of black metal)
Jonathan Richardson
What's the most Folk Metal comic?
Ryder Rivera
>Darkthrone is more overrated than Burzum I guess I can see that, but come on. I just dig anything that has a big Celtic Frost influence(Hordes of Nebulah and Triumphant Gleam are my two favorites). For other 2nd wave/modern bands I like, there's Nattefrost, Carpathian Forest, Satanic Warmaster, Vomitor, and Cruel Force
Adrian Harris
As a non black metal fan, Sigh is one of the only black metal bands I like because they largely lack the ideology of black metal anyway. "Trve" black metal I have no interest in, and honestly reminds me more of punk than traditional heavy metal in terms of how they did thinks and what they prioritized. I've never been a fan of "sounding bad on purpose" or ideology, fashion, or whatever else being more important than musical ability.
Samuel Moore
>had no idea about what the black metal scene was about
tell us what the black metal is about, if you ask me the whole ''scene'' is about edgy idiots trying to act like hard asses based on the shitty music that they listen to.
That and a whole lot of ''A reall black metal head would never dress such a t-shirt!''
Eli Hall
Yeah I mean that's pretty much it, which was kind of my point. Also, a misplaced embracing of Satanism as a statement when really what they were into was just National Socialism and in their dumb teenaged brains thought promoting Satanism was a good way of going about that.
Christopher Walker
vampire knight: requiem
Jonathan Morales
Heads up- there is a new chapter out on readcomiconline.
Christian Perry
>Leviathan Try hard hipster garbage
Ethan Carter
You would probably like a lot more than you know then. Sigh is great, but there are plenty of experimental bands. Emperor and all those musician's side projects.
I will recommend one album though Apothesosis. One man epic black metal band that infuses everything and folk in it
this is amazing. Go into Lord of the Rings while you listen
Juan Fisher
would you care to name a good US black metal band then? Cause there isn't much to choose from
James Kelly
Johnny the Homicidal Maniac?
Daniel Phillips
There are none. The best the us can muster in terms of black metal always ends up being tryhard hipster garbage like Leviathan or Liturgy (Not comparing those two though, they're obviously vastly different in their approach of hipster)
David Ward
reread what the thread was about, I got confused and contorted it into US black metal and that was stupid of me.
I still stand by Leviathan though.
Joshua Evans
>I still stand by Leviathan though
That's fair, they (he) never really did much for me, but I respect you sticking to your guns. The only reason i disparaged them to begin with was because this is Sup Forums and somehow shitposting comes naturally, but I should know better than to shit on people for their musical tastes, especially when we're already in agreement about our enjoyment of this very narrow and specific genre of music. I still think us black metal is a far cry from the european scene though.
Lucas Baker
I am a Leaf and so get a bit better Black Metal cause of the fucking cold. It's no where near europe though. Canada is more Tech-Death. And I'm fine with that cause Canada dominating any music scene is amazing
