Presumably that means it's mostly restricted to a single world without any planet hopping. That's good. I never liked that sci-fi writers seem to forget that planets are big, and aren't just glorified cities.

It's kind of odd how space opera frequently uses naval terminology and imagery, like the classic metaphor of space as a vast ocean. But like, why not just use the ocean then?
