you have to understand, the public in germany is insanely restrained when it comes to even speaking of such matters, and for good reason. people have had their homes raided by police for posting "inflammatory rhethoric" on social media. the constant threat of persecution and public shaming is very effective at making people shut up.

it is impossible to accurately assess public opinion among fellow germans. i know that fear and distrust of authorities and media are definitely on the rise. there's a significant rise in support for right wing positions, and AfD is making huge gains every time they're up for election somewhere. but it is very hard to get an idea on how big exactly this trend is.

like i said, if you speak out there's a good chance you get police knocking on your door with a search warrant (which means they will fuck up your entire house and take everything they consider to be evidence with them, most of which you won't be getting back for years)
