No. 90% of this would have worked. For example, the whole "Luke can swing the lightsaber and bat the laser bolts back" is prequels era worthy of cringy. The Plaguius Backstory would never have worked on there because like Rian pointed out, Rey would have just gone "Huh? Who are you suppose to be? I don't understand..."
Force Lightning (the thing Palpatine did) is unnatural and twisting the Force for power. What Yoda did was call upon nature itself with the force. Something that is natural and part of life.
There is also the problem about Admiral Ackbar being fanservice which would not have solved any real problems. We know so little of Admiral Ackbar except he is an admiral who said "IT'S A TRAP!"
All in all, you guys are taking things that are clearly not serious and playing them off as serious criticisms.

There is no reason for Rey to care. She doesn't have any reason to care. You are treating the plaguius reveal as if it's "Luke I am your father" despite the fact that Luke actually cared about that because it's a reveal about the father he never knew about, was only told a bit about by Obi Wan and revealed he's related to Space Hitler.
There is no relation for Rey's character to know who Snoke is.

Eh, if i'm being 100% honest? It was only ok. A little too on the nose with all the beat hits from ESB, which I had hoped they would tone down after the complaints of 7 just being a remake of 4.
Visually it blew the others out of the water, but left almost all the answered questions form 7 while adding more to the mix.

Red Letter Media actually called this movie sporadically entertaining. They even pointed out that the movie wasn't terrible at all. And they are known for shitting on Star Wars when it REALLY counts like The Prequels and Rogue One.
i guess it was a good bait cause it got me to reply, but that was such a retarded statement that it made my head hurt.

Movie, at least for me, was ok. Watched it two times and to be honest it has some pretty good moments and some pretty bad ones.
I feel the worst part of the movie is that this whole thematic of undoing heroic sacrifices was poorly executed, as in many instances these saved the other characters or could've solved an issue completely. Some small changes just like the cannon firing before Finn reaches it and need to be saved, or making the original plan to kamikaze into the fleet and Poe misunderstanding it would've solved some issues.
This whole shtick of building mystery upon mystery is not going to pay off at the end, especially when a lot concerned with Rey's abilities or Snoke origin could've been explained in less than a min.
I really enjoyed the confrontation between Luke and Kylo at the end of the movie (both of which are the best characters in the movie by far) and thought it was a a great way to finish the movie (sans Luke 'dying' which was retarded).
I kinda dig the Snoke choke in this movie as it was unexpected and provides some interesting scenarios in the next movie.
