Is Batman really a metahuman?

Is Batman really a metahuman?

No. Whoever's pushing that is retarded. Batman's whole point is no powers, peak of human potential. He's a man among Gods in the Justice League.

He's META in the sense that he gets plot armor

Maybe they don't know he's not a metahuman
He's peak human, but I'm sure they assume his insane acrobatic skill and strength come from superpowers

Yes. Plot warping. Characters forgot that they have super speed, reflexes and strength when fighting him. It doesn't matter how many karate lessons a holocaust victim took, they aren't winning a fight against a totally untrained gym rat. Except the difference is even larger in most cases.

He has Super Luck

Don't most people assume he has powers before he reveals he's just a dude?

Is there any cape character that, through no intentional trickery on their part, is assumed by everyone else in the setting to have superpowers but they actually don't?

Booster Gold? Green Arrow?

Indomitable Will: Although he has no superhuman powers, Batman's unstoppable determination and strength of will make him an extremely formidable opponent. This makes him able to function while tolerating massive amounts of physical pain, and also allows him to resist telepathy or mind control. His willpower is strong enough to operate a Green Lantern Ring when necessary.

Intimidation: It is widely known that Batman has the ability to instill fear in others, even the people that know him best are intimidated by him. Even those who aren't afraid of the likes of Superman fear Batman. His ability to inspire great fear made him eligible for induction into the Sinestro Corps, although he was able to fight off the power ring's control.

Interrogation: Batman is adept in interrogation techniques, often using law enforcement methods as well as torture. Several methods seen include hanging a person over the edge of a building by one leg or chaining a person upside down and beating them. He usually just plain uses his frightening appearance to get answers. "Fear is an excellent motivator" he once said.

Peak Human Conditioning: Through intense training, specialized diet, and biofeedback treatments, Batman represents the pinnacle of human physical prowess. His physical attributes exceeded that of any Olympic level athlete that has ever completed. Strength, speed, stamina, agility, reflexes and coordination are at peak human perfection. Batman began his physical and mental conditioning when he was 11 and then intense physical training and weight lifting at age 12. He has mastered full body control by the time he was 18. Bruce Wayne, since the age of 15, has created a strict diet to enable his body to develop and operate at its most proficient, along with biofeedback treatments (using portable/non portable machines to stimulate muscles to contraction). Batman has performed amazing physical feats due to his superior physique. He engaged in an intensive regular regimen of rigorous exercise (including aerobics, weight lifting, gymnastics, and simulated combat) to keep himself in peak condition, and has often defeated opponents whose size, strength, or other powers greatly exceeded his own. He has spent his entire life in pursuit of physical perfection and has attained it through constant intensive training and determination.

Peak Human Strength: Batman regularly bench-presses at least 1000 lbs. during his exercise routine.

Peak Human Reflexes: Bruce's reflexes were honed to such a degree that he has caught one of Green Arrow's arrows in mid flight when he tried to shoot him. He has also been able to dodge point blank gunfire.

Peak Human Speed: He could run at speeds comparable to the finest competing athletes.

Peak Human Endurance: His endurance was comparable to that of the finest Olympic Decathlon participant. His lung capacity was so great that he could hold his breath underwater for 3 minutes and 15 seconds. He can survive in the airless vacuum of space for exactly 27 seconds.

Peak Human Agility: His agility was greater than that of a Chinese acrobat and an Olympic gold medalist gymnast. His main phase of movement was Parkour which he learned in France and used that to scale the cities rooftops in an acrobatic manner.

Acrobatics: He is proficient in gymnastics and acrobatics.

Martial Arts: Bruce is well trained in multiple martial arts, he is known as the man who has mastered 127 forms of martial arts. His primary form of combat is an idiosyncratic admixture of Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Muay Thai, Dragon Style Kung Fu, Boxing, Jujitsu, Ninjitsu and Capoeira.[citation needed]
Weaponry Through his martial arts training, he has become an expert on all melee weapons. Wayne has displayed exceptional sword fighting capability and proficiency with knives, sticks and various other weapons. He practices during his combat sessions to keep his skills intact, but he prefers unarmed combat.

Stealth: His Ninjutsu training has made him a master at stealth and capable of breaching high security facilities without being detected.

Marksmanship: Wayne is an expert marksman skilled. He is skilled with throwing projectile weapons, archery and firearms. He has been practicing such skills since the early days of his training and is almost on par with the Green Arrow in terms of accuracy.

Genius Level Intellect: Batman is a brilliant, virtually peerless, detective, strategist, scientist, tactician, and commander; he is widely regarded as one of the keenest analytical minds on the planet. Given his lack of superpowers, he often uses cunning and planning to outwit his foes, rather than simply "out-fighting" them.

Is Daredevil metahuman?

Polymath: He has studied Biology, Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Mythology, Geography, & History. Gained degrees in Criminal Science, Forensic sciences, Computer Sciences, Chemistry and Engineering by the time he was 21. He has mastered Diverse Environmental Training, Security Systems, and illusion/sleight of hand by the time he was 23. He gained even more degrees in Biology, Physics, Advanced Chemistry, and Technology by the time he was 25. He had learned Forensic Sciences, Medical Sciences, Expanded Computer and Engineering Sciences, and Expanded Device Pool use of personal powered armor and system, database creation on underworld crime bosses, rogue's gallery foes and other supervillains; improved material sciences for body armor and micro-machinery by the time he was 26. Has also learned Advanced New Development in Forensic and Medical Sciences.

Investigation: He is widely considered as the World's Greatest Detective, capable of observation, forensic investigation, and inductive and deductive reasoning of the highest caliber. Human intuition is an unlearnable trait and one of Batman's most effective tools. Given any mystery, he can arrive at the correct conclusions with a fraction of the data.

Multilingualism: He is able to speak Spanish, French, Latin, German, Japanese, English, Russian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Greek, Portuguese, Arabic, Sanskrit, Hindi, Thai and possibly more.

Tactical Analysis: He commonly utilizes cunning tactics to outwit his foes. He is an excellent leader and at times commands the Justice League and the Outsiders, Batman is known as one of the greatest strategists and tacticians in the dc universe, and once even Aquaman stated the same.

Escapology: He has been described as second only to Mister Miracle as an escape artist. He has been seen escaping from a Posey straitjacket in less than 52 seconds, and remarked afterwards that the time was way too slow for him.

Driving: Bruce is proficient at driving many vehicles like cars, motor bikes, trucks and he is also skillful at driving jets, helicopters and auto boats and small ships.

Tracking: Trained in hunting techniques by African Bushmen (the Ghost Tribes of the Ten-eyed Brotherhood, among others).

Disguise: Has mastered the art of disguise by the time he was 23. Has further learned expanded disguise techniques by the time he was 26. Batman has many aliases he uses to infiltrate the underworld or just to go undercover in public situations. His current aliases are: Matches Malone, Thomas Quigley, Ragman, Detective Hawke, Sir Hemingford Grey, Frank Dixon, Gordon Selkirk, and Mr. Fledermaus.

Mechanical Aptitude: Proficient at combat driving. Has learned improved vehicle designs. Was trained and proficient in basic vehicles operations.

Business Management: Bruce Wayne has extensive skills and experience in business management, has thorough understanding of financial marketing and management and is often known as a example of successful industrialist and businessman on par to Lex Luthor.

Peak Human Strength: Batman engages in an intensive exercise regimen, and because of this, his strength, like all other physical attributes, is at the peak of human perfection. He is shown to be able to bench-press at least 1000 lbs.

MVP.

soooo...batman can time travel right? is there any other way you can explain all this shit and still find the time to fight crime, develop tech, amass libraries of prep time, run a multinational corporation and organize the justice league?

>His lung capacity was so great that he could hold his breath underwater for 3 minutes and 15 seconds.
Current record for dynamic apnea without fins is 4 minutes, and the record for static apnea without oxygen preparation is 11 minutes, 35 seconds.

>He can survive in the airless vacuum of space for exactly 27 seconds.
Vacuum exposure isn't fatal until after 90 seconds, give or take.

>Current record for dynamic apnea without fins is 4 minutes, and the record for static apnea without oxygen preparation is 11 minutes, 35 seconds.
That almost sounds like someone was lazy and looked up the world record and made Batman be able to do that but then time moved on and a new record was created.

Booster doesn't have powers? Whoa

He basically has power armour.

He is part bat and part money

>Who has mastered 127 forms of Martial arts
Holy shit that is just fucking retarded.

He's a meta if you go by Scott Snyder's retarded definition: meta=metal, and Batman injested several special metals in the lead up towards Metal so... you get the idea

Strictly speaking dynamic apnea is measured in distance, 225 meters, it was just over the course of four minutes since you want to maximize the distance traveled per movement over speed. And even if someone just one upped an old world record and called it a day 3 minutes wouldn't even be close.

yeah

I always figured Batman just used generic Army/Marine CQC along with some Karate moves or two. His fighting style is mostly just kinda on the fly stuff though.

Tossing a Batarang at someone's hand then kicking him in the face while they recoil in pain is not exactly a cultivated art.

Or the way he uses his cape as a matador flag to confuse people.

Not to mention more than anything he just resorts to regular fisticuffs (like when he fought superman).

Im calling bullshit on the whole "martial arts master" thing.

I kind of get that it's a relic from the fifties where master of all martial arts is a thing but holy shit you would think it would get updated.

Some nonsense about kickboxing and grappling or MMA or hell Karate and Juijitsu. It's better than 147 martial arts.

He has strongest powers of them all: plot armor, cash cow and vocal fanboys.

The power of plot as seen in Metal as most recent example.

I’m sure the editors were like “N-no, that’s intentional, yeah, totally.”

I like to think Waller added him to the meta database herself. Not because he's a meta, but because he's a high-profile target she wants to have jurisdiction over.
In reality, the writer probably thinks metahuman is just a fancy word for superhero

I haven't kept up on him in a long, long time, but from what I recall, some versions played it so that the chemical that blinded him was also responsible for his superhuman senses, which would make him a meta, where other versions went straight with the whole "it's just really intense training" thing

Cassandra Cain could "dodge" bullets in her original run. Because comics, her upbringing resulted in her language processing center of her brain having body language as her first language. The result is basically reacting to you making the split second decision to pull the trigger before you can readjust and point the gun at her new location before you fire. There was actually an issue where the US govt had footage of her and they all assumed she was meta human due to her feats fighting a room of people. She also could see through a shape shifter's disguise due to her whole body language thing.

I've never heard that. What I heard was the main argument was whether Matt's radar sense was something distinct or simply the result of getting information from his remaining enhanced senses.

>Gained degrees in Criminal Science, Forensic sciences, Computer Sciences, Chemistry and Engineering by the time he was 21

Yet no one has said, "Did you know Bruce Wayne has several degrees in sciences and criminolgy? It's like he is a secret cop or something!"

It would be better if they had him master a single martial arts that he made adjustments to to make it non-lethal. Like in One Punch Man where Bang is the master of Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist and his brother Bomb is the master of Whirlwind Iron Cutting Fist.

>he's metahuman
>he has met a human
Waller's playing them for chumps.

Pre New 52 It's been mentioned before that Batman has a metahuman brain, it allowed him to retain and access more info than a normal person
this is stupider than that, now Batman is considered a metahuman because he had contact with Nth Metal in Metal which reverted his body to peak condition free of the wear and tear of being Batman for the last however many years. so Batman is at his Peak because of an alien doo dad and not his own training so he's now a meta (yuck)

Nth metal also turns people into random metas but it hasn't been revealed if Batman had gained any other extra powers because of it.

He has survived things no "normal" human could survive, so he is a meta-human by definition

Considering this, I am fine with him being super powered by Nth metal.

Depends on your definition. He's certainly beyond human. At what point it tips into metahuman is unclear.

Humans in comics can be thrown through layers of brick and mortar and not be completely pulverized, they're all beyond human, especially when the plot calls for it.

>healing factor, no permanent damage from all the repeated beatings he took
>probability manipulation, can evade a dozend people spraying bullets into his direction
>inerita control, used whenever he swings around anywhere, be that on a rope or on some architectural feature
>fourth wall breaking, those bat-hooks need to hold on to nothing

That's his basic package he's using pretty much every story.

His plot armour is canonically a blessing by Barbatos. He's the most meta of metahuman possible.

The basic moves are usually all the same. It's probably not "too difficult" once you adapt to each one's quirks and gets easier the more forms you know.

Hasn't Bruce been "fixed from Batman wear and tear" like 5 to 6 times now? (and even de-aged by one of the Lazarus pits)

It's highly likely Waller just assumes he has some sort of meta healing factor that allows him extensive healing and increased physicality, not realizing it's a combination of outside effects and sheer hard work from Bruce.

I wouldn't mind it if DC kept the wear the tear aspect a bit. It could be kinda interesting to see Bruce realize that his body is starting to break down but he's still years away from being forced to retire.

Why does Killer Frost look like Lord Dominator ?

Punisher, possibly.
His only ability that's unusual is his high tolerance of pain.
Other than the fact his body should be destroyed by now from the steroids, drugs and other stuff, he's still just an average human and criminals think he's superpowered

>her upbringing resulted in her language processing center of her brain having body language as her first language

Are you fucking serious?

Her comic really wasn't that bad after you get over that ridiculous fact. The art was weird, but the compositions and action more than made up for it.

I'd argue that you cane become proficient in 4 to 7 practical martial arts before things get entirely redundant, any more than that is just wasting time.

It's bullshit, but actually written in a way that's pretty believable. Namely that said upbringing left her a more or less feral child who could barely function in society.

Not needing to work or have any family obligations leaves you with a lot of free time

The difference between Judo and Juijitsu are infinite despite the fact that one is a direct descendent of the other.

The differences in martial arts are not moves it's mentality and strategy. That's why most fighters only really stick to one form of striking with boxing added in because boxing is kind of the universal system.

Booster Gold will eventually develop powers later in life and become a Waverider with complete control over time.

Well, I'd assume Batman would make people think he had metahuman powers, but Waller would be one of the few people who would know that's bullshit.

I like to think Bruce gets Superman to play Batman once a night every few months just so there are stories of Batman flipping a car and flying.

Didn't a editor in Twitte said this was a mistake that passed the editing process?

>world's greatest detective
Nope. That would be Sherlock Holmes. Unlike Bats, he don't need a super computer or Oracle to solve crimes.

Computers are useful, user.

Punching people and hanging them by their feet until they confess is a shitty way to gain information and counterproductive as hell, but actual detective work is pretty mundane considering it has to be followed in a legal manner, and Batman's methods are illegal as fuck.

Batman is a detective part of the time, most of his crime solving is nothing more than forensics. I imagine Barry Allen gets pretty peeved about the whole "world's greatest detective" shtick when Bruce brings it up.

kek

Wasn't this Abra Kadabra's whole thing for a long time?
