I thought shilling for blogs or websites was against the rules?

I wasn't shilling, just being lazy

If it bothers you that much then just use archive.is or donotlink.it on the website.

I personally don't care about giving sites clicks and actually kinda like Gameinformer cause of the Megaman 11 coverage they've been giving

But I know some of you care so here's archive.is of it

>IDW is brand new. There's no connection from before aside from the creators that are involved. All of us are approaching this as a blank slate. This is fresh, new, just-off-the-vine Sonic. You don't even have to be super familiar with the games to get into it. If you know that Sonic is fast, he fights robots, and Dr. Eggman is a villain? Boom. You're set. I'm going to jump in and treat this series how Sonic adventures should be. Fast-paced and fun. Takes itself seriously enough so that you're engaged, but not so serious that you're rolling your eyes and saying, "Come on, this is a blue hedgehog. Chill out." I would love for there to be an opportunity down the line to at least cover the notes of what I would've done with the old series, but we are in uncharted waters at this point. The IDW book hasn't even launched yet. It's brand new and so is our relationship with Sega. We're feeling out what everyone's comfortable with and what we can do with the future. So right now, I'm not focused so much on resolving the past as I am setting up a successful future. Whatever comes from that down the line should be interesting.

>From the outset, I'm only considering the game material to draw from because you never know what the licenser wants represented or not. So, down the line, we might incorporate other older elements and fringes of the franchise, but for right now, it's that core game feel. Straightforward stories, lots of cinematic action early on. No long monologues or deep world building. No heavy focus on lore or backgrounds. It's focused on the adventure we have on hand and building on that.

R.I.P. Freedom Fighters.

The comic sounds like it's going to be boring as fuck.

god bless

Wake me up when Sonic gets 2 normal eyes, and starts changing clothes at least sometimes.

doesn't it make you feel ashamed to be such a pedant about links all the time?

I seriously can't tell whether I even like or dislike Flynn anymore. The guy is a total bro and seems to have the right idea, but I don't entirely trust him to make a really top tier Sonic comic, even though his work's gotta be the best thing that was on the old Archie comics.
I will for sure try it though and see what I think. Don't let me down Flynn.

I had a feeling the whole "wait and see" answers regarding the FFs were Ian/IDW not sure how much SEGA will allow, at least to start with.

Ian followed up on a couple things from the interview on twitter.

twitter.com/IanFlynnBKC/status/964318257086894085

They should just make it shonen shit already

I WANT MORE

Well it's like crying wolf, except with putting out "serious" plots. Old comic fans want pigeonholed writing.
And when the plots weren't serious, it wasn't for the best either half of the time.

no who cares about them RIP the egg bosses

>nobody liked six distinct villains of Lost World
>I KNOW LET'S MAKE TWELVE OF THEM
Tell me how this isn't dumb.

Its the future game fags wanted.

Only way to go really after the past clusterfuck that was Archie and shit Sega has done to the name brand.

Go home.

>Takes itself seriously enough so that you're engaged, but not so serious that you're rolling your eyes and saying, "Come on, this is a blue hedgehog. Chill out."

Yet you included Forces.

This comic is dead on arrival.

So basically if you liked the old comic or Freedom Fighters Ian Flynn is saying they can use them, but won't. But you should still keep buying the comic because MAYBE in like 2021 they'll introduce Sally or something as a side character for one arc.

This comic can fuck off.

They're even deader than the FFs. FFs have an okay chance at coming back SOMETIME down the line based on that interview.

Egg bosses coming back is probably really unlikely given Ian is holding out hope that IDW and SEGA revive the post-reboot (and maybe pre-reboot) series so he can continue off the plans he once had. Or it's just an excuse to not work on LHT.

IDW wants a new book and SEGA seems like they're iffy on the FF/cartoons subject, at least that's what I got out of the interview.

Okay seriously, shouldn't they gave male Sonic characters clothes now? They look too plain when compared to female characters.

Does Ian hope to continue with the post reboot era?

Don't the Egg Bosses predate the Lost World villains? In any case, they were way cooler looking and more interesting than those shmucks.

He wanted to write a fanfic using the ideas he would gone forward with in the post reboot era called Lost Hedgehog Tales, but citing work and legal issues it's postponed indefinitely.

>#2 – IDW: The Sonic license moving to IDW is very cool, but it brings up a ton of new questions. IDW is famous for bringing back and completing older runs of fan-favorite franchise books when they can. Does this mean I can maybe one day finish my post-reboot plans? Does it mean I might one day finish my pre-reboot plans? I have no ideas. But the possibility, even if it’s infinitesimally small, now exists. And it’s entirely too early to predict whether or not it might happen. “Lost Hedgehog Tales” could, potentially, derail that. And if sitting on the project now means we actually get to see it as a comic later? I think it’s totally worth waiting a few more years. And if not? If it just takes a while to make sure those will never happen and I’m in the clear? Then so be it.

bumbleking.com/lost-hedgehog-tales-update/

No seriously, why hasn’t SEGA hired him as a writer yet? Are they that fucking retarded?

>Are they that fucking retarded?
do you have to even ask?

> Are they that fucking retarded?
You should know by now

Why would SEGA hire him to work for their Sonic Team in SEGA Japan?

not what he said, he just tried to do the soft reboot shoot at archie and he fucked that up, so he's just going to do a really basic reboot for IDW and when the book has a audience, he'll start introducing more characters and lore in later arcs.

I don’t know, why did they hire Pontiac and Graff?

>Dr. Eggman, I'm S.O.N.ic

Did you ever see the cutscenes to the game you stupid attention whore? It took itself less seriously than even Lost World did.

In US, anyway. The Japs were serious as a heart attack.

Thanks.

...

It's pretty standard shonen-shit. Some background furry villagers may have died but nobody important gets hurt, besides Sonic offscreen but even that isn't treated seriously. It's not outrageously edgy like Shadow the Hedgehog was.

>"Come on, this is a blue hedgehog. Chill out."
This retarded complaint always bugged me.

Also, RIP Freedom Fighters I guess, still at least hoping that the whole fresh start just applies to the narrative and not the characters.

>No long monologues or deep world building. No heavy focus on lore or backgrounds.

That's like we like these comics. Breezie's whole thing at the end of the champions fucking MADE that arc.

It's nice they didn't forget about Blaze.

What do people think of Rough and Tumble?

>Straightforward stories, lots of cinematic action early on. No long monologues or deep world building. No heavy focus on lore or backgrounds. It's focused on the adventure we have on hand and building on that.
Now to wait until April and see how many of these "game characters ONLY" fags actually buy the comic they claimed they wanted so bad.

You mean, Wough and Vumble?

They're not female. No one will care about them. There is NO reason to care about any of this comic's characters, except the fap bait ones, or stories that will be just as aimless and worthless as the Archie ones with no resolution.

The only purpose this crappy comic has is showcase females for pornography. Like Blaze who has finally returned to Sonic media after YEARS of being absent. Her mere appearance will likely inspire a new Off Model tit fucking pic or an oral pic.

Now shut up and accept that this is how reality works.

>Boo hoo evul game fags! Go away and play your games already! You do nothing but keep the franchise alive, that's of no importance compared to our glorified fanfics!

>Sales of the games are what matters to the comic company putting this out!
If this new Sonic comic doesn't make 10,000 issues a month in sales, you can bet Ian and IDW will be doing their best to get the FF and whatever other SatAM/Archie characters they can to get that fanbase back. Like I said, we will see in April if there's enough game-only fags like you to support a comic or not.

...

>This retarded complaint always bugged me.
how is it retarded?

sonic is at it's most cringey when it takes itself too seriously. things like sonic 06's story (which is a final fantasy game's but with sonic & friends inserted in) & shadow (who's basically a deviantart OC) are proof of that.

>"game only fags"
>literally 3 new OCs announced for the comic
you being a closeted furfag aside i think you underestimate how much sonic sell on just it's name alone.

>how much sonic sell on just it's name alone.

Sonic games have notably diminished in sales even before the release of Forces. Not even Mania was able to save Sonic's reputation over the years of mediocre to bad games. Just because Sonic didn't sink down to Crash or Spyro tier doesn't mean he sells very well.

it still sells enough to basically be the only franchise other than persona that sega cares about.

I think you overestimate the comics market. Doesn't matter how big your IP is, that doesn't translate to comic sales. Teen Titans GO is one of the biggest draw's CN has, but the comic doesn't meet Archie Sonic numbers. Transformers has a large new movie fanbase, but the Last Light comic still sold less than Archie Sonic.

Hence why I said we will see in April, when the comic actually launches.

>I think you overestimate the comics market. Doesn't matter how big your IP is, that doesn't translate to comic sales.
last time i checked starwars is the only thing at marvel that still sells which may have changed since the last jedi + whatever boost their legacy relaunch gave their other books.

also even if the comic sells less than 10 issues i doubt sega would let them use any of your favorite OCs from SATAM/archie.

What are they, skunks?

If the comic sells that poorly, then it will die. Before that happens, I'm pretty sure IDW and Ian will do everything they can to get the FF back in such a situation. Hence my original post, that we will see if there's enough game-only fans like yourself to support a comic come April. Why have you been autistically whining about that, I have no idea.

>they
Only Sonic Team has, not anyone else

But why? they dont have tits so they can go shirtless, they dont have a visible wang, so they can go pantless if they want.
they dont need to wear clothes.

I'm just pointing out that you have a better chance of a proper sonic adventure 3 happening than sega letting them use the FF or anyone else from the cartoons or earlier comics

And this has what to do with the comic sales? You can shitpost as much as you want, but in the end the only thing that will matter is if you actually buy the comic you've been arguing for. You wanted it? It's coming in April. Time to put up or shut up.

Knuckles has gotta fight the white one.

He's a nice guy.
He's a bad writer.
This shit is fucked.

Wow, those are.

Designs, alright.

Holy shit.

i know you're going through the 5 stages of grief because they're not using the SATAM/archie OCs but i'm kinda curious as to why you think comic tie-in for a video game is not going to do well if it's more like the games.

yeah, theyre skunks

Are those Ferrets? Skunks? Albino badger?

I like the mohawks they got going on.

They look alright
not objectively bad, no objectively amazing, but alright

>but i'm kinda curious as to why you think comic tie-in for a video game is not going to do well if it's more like the games.
Because most Sonic games are utterly terrible and they don't sell well AT ALL? I really don't think you truly realize just how poorly most Sonic games sell, or how shit their overall gameplay and story development are. Mania *might* have brought some more attention to the series, but it STILL wasn't enough to pull the games out from the swamp of mediocrity and shit that they've been stewing in, and where Forces showed promise, it proceeded to shit the bed so fucking hard that most everyone who once had faith in Sonic Team has sworn the games off as a lost cause. So either you, my dear gamefag, prove with your fucking wallet just how "successful" this game-only tie-in comic will be, or you sit back and suck your bloody toes as it fails horribly (which it inevitably will, rest assured). Because absolutely no-one is going to be willing to subject themselves to the utter garbage fire that will be a "game-only" Sonic comic.

I love sonic's world and characters more so then the games. This is perfect.

>doesnt even try to reply
you owned the fuck out of that autist

so we're at anger now are we? next comes bargaining.

>I really don't think you truly realize just how poorly most Sonic games sell, or how shit their overall gameplay and story development are.
and i don't think you realize how much relevancy sonic still has or how low standard your typical sonicfag (like yourself) has.

if sonic games truly sold like shit we would've seen sonic join jet set radio, nights & the rest of sega's dead franchises years ago or just be a japan only series like virtual on.

Calling it now. How hilarious political and woke will IDW sonic be? They did a black lives matter issue in the my little pony comics and made transgenderism canon among transformers somehow.

That's if we're lucky. More likely the comic is going to stay stuck in "22-page game ad" mode for fear of someone pissing off SEGA.

Flynn doesn't really do political commentary. He's more prone to referencing shitty memes and taking the piss out of the fandom. Expect a reference to the VR Knuckles at some point in the future for example.

>so we're at anger now are we?
Not even the person you were replying to, you bloody buttfucking autist. I'm merely stating that you're utterly retarded if you think this comic is going to "succeed" based only on appealing to game-only fags (such as yourself). It can't, it won't, and that's a glaring fact. If it tries to use only game related shit, with maybe one or two new characters to try and rake in 'interest', it will *Die*. End of fucking story.

It truly amazes me that you are too retarded and blinded by the great cock of Sonic game "nostalgia" to see this.

Nah, I just don't care.

He liked Forces. Whatever. I think it was an abortion.

Dinsdale?

More like you had no argument and backed the fuck down like a little bitch

If you want. Its only the American version that tries to be cheesy, those stupid gooks meant it.

my question is why you think Sonic shouldnt be """""""""""""""edgy""""""""""""""" despite the fact that Sonic was marketed as such since his conception

>Sonic: I can run super fast

>Blaze: I can throw fire balls

>Tangle: I can grab things with my tail...

Because theres a difference between "edgy" and "stupidly dark, bordering on a bad fanfic" edgy.

>Not even the person you were replying to, you bloody buttfucking autist.
the way you're typing & your rage says otherwise.

>inb4 you post a screencap as "proof" that you're not the same guy

>Ian doesn't say shit
>All we got to go by are more furry OCs

Wake me up when they give Team Dark their own book again and the plot is Infinite trying to get his salty runback on Shadow.

you make it sound one in the same

No. Sonic was never "edgy". He had an attitude, but it was still, at its core, a goofy, Looney Tunes-esque cartoony romp about a hedgehog and an egg-shaped manchild.

Now look at Forces. Where he's tortured for six months. Where Knuckles comments on the grim realities of war with a line that would be cheesy in a Vietnam flick. And Infinite, who is not a pardoy of edgy, bad Deviantart OCs--he IS an edgy, bad Deviantart OC.

Who cares? The Sonic comics died when they had to reboot Archie's run due to SEGA's legal migraines over Penders. For better or worse, he still pretty much made the comic what it was, though it took Ian to remove the bullshit of Ken's ego and streamline it to something actually good.

>98702575
>the way you're typing & your rage says otherwise.
>"HURRDURRRITSTHEWAYYOUTYPEDRIRRR"
Thats what you're going with? Really? Are oyu so utterly retarded/assmad that you desperately need someone to end up being "Angry/and or Enraged" against you in order to feel validation in spite of facts being shoved into your face? If so, then I think you've got the whole 'rage' thing mixed up there, autismo.

>a goofy, Looney Tunes-esque cartoony romp

I'd say that Sonic is more Disney than Warner Bros.

I think what you're thinking is more based on AoStH and less on the actual video game series, for which there wasn't too much to derive from so that's why DiC made the show out to be like Looney Toons.

>hur hur you didn't respond so I win
This has got to be one of the most blatant examples of samefagging I've seen in years. And it's wasted, too, because Sonic Forces actually is noticeably dark and serious compared to the last several games.

Maybe. Point is, Sonic adapted to it a Hell of a lot better than he did to SatAM.

post lemur

>but it was still, at its core, a goofy, Looney Tunes-esque cartoony romp
the shitty american cartoons arent and never will be relevant, Dobson

>I think you've got the whole 'rage' thing mixed up there, autismo.
says the guy who's overreacting and responding but doesn't want to give the "(you)"

i think that you need to take a break & go outside for a bit you'll feel alot better

That coverage of genitals or whatever isn't the issue here, I just think giving the males some actual clothing would benefit their designs like how it would for the females.
What makes Tangle's design work is with how her yellow-black outfit nicely contrasts with her white fur and purple eyes. Sonic could use a red varsity jacket to go with his red sneakers.

part of why the girls wear clothes and the guys don't is so you can tell which is which

for example if you looked at amy's orginal design and took away her outfit she's just a pink sonic
