It's really hard to stay neutral or optimistic after reading this

"The Turtles is a property that has reinvention in its DNA, which keeps it fresh and relevant to every new generation while satisfying the demand from its adult fans. 'Turtles' has been an incredibly important franchise for us since we reignited it five years ago, and we’re excited for the new series to take the characters in a different direction with
> more humor, a younger and lighter feel and all-new dimensions to explore."

Here's hoping this adaptation fades into obscurity and is quickly forgotten by fans old and new.

CHANGE
CHAAANGE
I FUCKING HATE CHANGEEE

NO BLACK APRIL, NO RAPH LEADER, EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE THE SAME

REEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Fuck off Sup Forums. I just hate it for being more humor based. It'll most likely turn out like TTG and Power Puff Girls 2016. I'm willing to give those new aspects a try even the magic...

>more humor, a younger and lighter feel and all-new dimensions to explore

You do know 2012 TMNT was initially paraded around as being lighter and more friendly than 2003 TMNT, right?

I'm still hopeful. They've already indicated that it's a prequel ish series and that they'd "graduate" to having the roles they have in the past. It's a good opportunity to explore characters in a way we haven't seen before.

Remember TF Animated?

This mean splinter will get in shape?
Or that April will stop being black?

I'm aware, but they didn't need to make it lighter and have more humor when it already had that last series....

This reminds me of the autism the came before Sonic Boom cartoon launched, and that cartoon turned out great.

a fucking niggers must fucking hang

Race swaps are always shit

Boom was a surprise though, and besides the original game, all of its versions have been good.

10min flash animation is all shit regardless of world setting or established characters

it cant unfold any character development, it only works for some short comedy with shitty gimmicky animation

I just don't care. The last series was good and I kinda wish it had kept going more past Splinter's death. Or that the death had been pushed to keep the series going longer.

They're treating Turtles like how Marvel treats it's comics. You don't always have to look for those first time readers.

Magical nerfed weapons
TTGo vibes
The runtime
The race shenanigans
Splinter looking like doodoo and being a shit teacher and probable shit father figure (SHIT!)

This just slaps of the Nick movies once again. All you need is some tweaking, some sprucing up but instead you get this complete overhaul. You might as well just make up a whole new property then.

The last show was bogged down with seasons that went nowhere and terrible pacing, resulting in most people giving it up.

It had it's opportunity to keep going for something greater and it squandered it.

A change should makes sense. A change shouldn't change the established personality of a character just (((because))). It's simply illogical.

TMNT 2012 Donatello was the worst incarnation of him.

>You don't always have to look for those first time readers.

They're looking to sell toys to kids, and in MOST cases yes it is wise from a business perspective to start things over or reinvent in some way, because as you lose your other toy buying audience as they grow into their teen years, you also have a higher chance of acquiring younger fans with a product that's actually new, not the thing their older brother grew up with and already had

My younger brother showed me a picture of these new TMNT toys. Says he doesn't want them since they look dumb now. It's like how little kids hate Steven Universe but only adults and insecure teens seem to like it.

Well if the older toys were selling what they should have been, they wouldn't cancel the show. That's just how it works pal.

Best version of the Turtles was the Archie Comics series.

Who are the furries?

Most of the cast, haven't you ever read or watched any TMNT stuff?

Splinter and Ninjara.

The turtles are cool mutated turtles who know ninjutsu. But seriously what are the names of dog man and wolf girl?

Thanks buddy

I'm 99% certain this is mostly salty leofags

What?

Which was trash for a long fucking time

I love Raph. He's my favorite Turtle. But Leo's the leader. He's like Cyclops, few people's favorite, but you want him there.

Leofags are not the only salty fans here, you know. In fact, isn't he the least favourite turtle?

What do you think of IDW?

I never liked this idea of "reinventing" an existing franchise, like, make a new fucking franchise INSPIRED by the thing for fuck sake.
>you just dont like change
I dont like it when it could be its own fucking franchise instead of riding on the brand of something else. If it needs the brand name to float then it should probably sink.

TMNT was reinventing the original idea from the beginning, as soon as the cartoon and toylines were made and reinvented the ideas that were the original comic book. That's how these things work, especially since the cartoon and toyline were way more successful than said comic book....it's not comparable to Marvel or DC, because the thing that established it wasn't the comic book.

I em not even mad

Yes, Networks always make objectively good decisions. They're networks, right? They're never wrong.

boy howdy, will you hate Power Rangers.

Yes after the original series it got worse all around, fight me.

What is the original idea and how far has it actually deviated. Look at Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go, it went from an action show to a flat out comedy sketch show, like, what is actually changing aside from the designs here where it appeals to completely different markets despite being the same franchise.

Once again, TMNT's main goal in this case is to sell toys, it is a property owned by a toy company, their goal is to sell toys. You're making the mistake of thinking you are the core demographic here as an adult who watches cartoons. I'm not saying you don't have a right to dislike this new show or even criticize it, but you'd have to be retarded to not understand how these things work.

>The first TMNT license came in the form of a role-playing game by Palladium, followed by miniatures from Dark Horse. Within a year, First Comics began to reprint the early issues in color volumes; four were produced, stopping at issue 11. These sold well, and Eastman and Laird were soon contacted by Mark Freedman, a licensing agent who believed he could make something of the Turtles. Freedman took the idea to a variety of toy companies, only to be turned down by those who felt the concept was not popular enough to support a toy line. Only one company expressed interest, a little-known California company by the name of Playmates.
>Not entirely willing to risk marketing a small cult comic book, Playmates insisted that a cartoon series be produced first.

Literally the only reason there was ever a cartoon for TMNT in the first place was to sell toys, and that is no different today with this show, or the one before it, or the one before that. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but this kind of shit comes with the territory.

People getting all worked up about April and Raph but look at what they did to Splinter.

The only saving grace for this show could be a badass Shredder and cool-looking Bebop and Rocksteady. But I don't see that happening...

Fuck This shit. They're ruining the brand....AGAIN.

>What is the original idea and how far has it actually deviated.
The original idea was a gritty parody of dark comic books, it deviated quite a bit when there was a cartoon unironically for 8 year olds put out. Comparing the original comic to the cartoon would be no different than comparing Teen Titans to Teen Titans Go, and in any case that's fucking stupid because Teen Titans the cartoon deviated greatly from the source material in just about every way, turning a comic book into a pseudo anime that was very much "of the times" for the time it came out in, if change is the enemy you're not making any good arguments with the examples you're using.

>it deviated quite a bit when there was a cartoon unironically for 8 year olds put out

not that guy but fucking everything got a cartoon and a videogame back then, didn't matter what it was, we had a fucking Toxic Avenger cartoon, have you seen the Toxic Avenger movie?

Yes, what's your point? The Toxic Avenger cartoon was nothing like the source material. Are you mad about that too, or are you just mad because you're a fanboy for a certain iteration of TMNT and think it should be exempt from this sort of thing, even though this sort of thing is the only reason it's popular and well known to begin with?

Yeah, I don't really let myself get worked up over the cartoons. Like you said, they've been toy commercials from the beginning. If the show actually ends up good it's basically a happy accident (pic related).

When it comes to TMNT I'll always gravitate more towards the comics and movies.

He looks ridiculous but cute desu

>we reignited it five years ago

Are they legally obligated to ignore 2k3 or it's just Nick being a dick?

it's a bad comparison, source material doesn't matter when you have a definitive version, for example BTAS is the definitive version of Batman and his ethos not the comic book version.

What I meant by change was what is actually changing, they say they are reinventing the franchise, what does that actually mean. Are the turtles no longer mutants and are just aliens who are trying to get back to turtle planet? Are they even Ninjas now? Is this is a slice of life show about teenagers with differences in high school? Can the cast change in and out of turtle form like werewolf-turtles and the show is more about following them in human form? That was my problem, they say they are changing something that is fundamentally unchangeable and would become something completely different from what people recognize the franchise for if they start "reinventing" what TMNT is.

Look at powerpuff girls old and new, one is about violence and fights with villians involving superheroes who are cutesy little girls, the other is a cutesy high school slice of life drama starring little girls, who also have superpowers they sometimes use, these are completely different shows, they "reinvented" the franchise to where it shouldve been its own thing.

MOMMY THEY'RE NOT TAKING THE 80'S TOY COMMERCIAL SERIOUSLY APRIL IS A NI-BLACK THEY'RE RUINING IT I WISH I WAS STILL 9

Since when is a cartoon being a toy commercial an excuse for it to suck? BTAS was a toy machine in the early nineties, that didn't stop it from being good.

>its for kids its ok if its shit
This right here is why people still think animation is strictly a childrens thing.

Has that artist never seen a rat before. Looks like a bear.

On the same note, nu-splinter is hideous. He's what really bugs me about the new show.

>he's seriously implying that 9/10 turtles media isn't utter trash
>he's seriously implying the 80's show was good
At least you're earning plenty of good boy points

TMNT was dead when Nick TMNT arrived, dude. 2003 turtles had been over for like half a decade.

MOMMY IT'S ALL WRONG SONIC DOESN'T HAVE BLUE ARMS RAPH ISN'T THE LEADER APRIL IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE HUGE TITS TURTLES AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE FUNNY WHY DONT PEOPLE REVERE A TOY COMMERCIAL MADE BY PEOPLE IN TOO MUCH COKE

Turtles Forever was 2009. IDW Turtles started in 2011.

In Space, Lost Galaxy, Dino Thunder, Time Force, and RPM were all better.

NO FUCK YOU LETS CHANGE EVERYTHING, ANY CHANGE IS GOOD

MAKE SPIDERMAN TURN SERIOUS AND BATMAN TURN INTO A COMEDIAN CHARACTER

MAKE SUPERMAN A SUPERVILLAIN AND LEX LUTHOR THE SUPERHERO

MAKE GREEN LANTERN PINK AND CHANGE HIS NAME TO A SPACE GAY PINK CHASM THAT SWALLOWS ALL MATTER

how can the fucking turtles get "a lighter feels"

Why are you so enraged at people using freedom of speech to critic a cartoon in a board about comics and cartoons? At what point do you see that thread and believe it's not allright, that something is wrong?

"Better than terrible" is certainly better, Ill give you that.
Nu-thundercats was fundamentally better than the original series but that doesnt mean it was good. TMNT came from a decent comic to a decent TV show, which is why it took off while others didnt.

MOMMY THE MAN ON THE INNANET IS BEING MEAN TO ME I HAVE FREEZE PEACH THIS IS A HOLOCAUST

I been off for a while.
Do Sup Forums become a minority's defender?
Last time I checked, they were racists as fuck, they had evidence to back up its claims, but certainly, racists.

Yea! Lets make it a sitcom about fart jokes and have the turtles take a backseat to the real issues of LGBTQ+1 communities, lets have a laugh track too like the hit show Big bang Theory! Change is only ever for the better and is never in any way a detriment!

They are a racial diverse group that believe in white supremacy.

Sup Forums is a sign that white supremacy will exist even if white disappear, just like nazis keep talking about the "lost ancient aryans bloodline"

I wouldn't call that one an accident. If I remember correctly Peter Laird was involved in the writing and he would call out writers whose ideas were either crazy, lazy or straight up retarded.

>Black April
As long as she's not shitty personality-wise, then I'm OK.

>Raph Leader
Here is something I can agree with. Not to mention the fact that they friggin changed every turtle's personality is also baffling.

Though Raph did have tonfas in the Mirage comics. And tonfas are pretty brutal.

>As long as she's not shitty personality-wise
She's going to be sassy, that's for sure. Despite how much the diversity push tries to pretend it isn't racist, it still manages to land the stereotypes. And the glasses lead me to believe she'll be a science/tech geek too, because you gotta have those women in STEM.

OK, now you have me worried user.

>Black April

If at least she had a decent design...

That figure is way too generous to the actual design. That one is fucking hideous.

2003 april was already that

>When it comes to TMNT I'll always gravitate more towards the comics and movies.

Might wanna just stick to the comics. Nick isn't going to do anything but trash with the movies.

Man, there is a lot of differences here.

God forbid anyone talks or criticizes cartoons on the comic and cartoon board.

I was watching the 2014 movie last night and I think I've cracked the code.

The TMNT media that gets the most complains all has one thing in common; they screw with the family dynamic. Be it The Next Mutation and how they added a sudden 5th turtle and said "oh by the way they're not REALLY related", or how the Bay Turtles movie removes the link between Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki and how that creates a family feud, to this, making the turtles all different species.

Conversely, look at the IDW comics. They have the turtles and Splinter being reincarnated humans. Yet there wasn't a huge pushback. Why? Because that strengthened the undercurrent of the turtles as brothers; as a family. The first movie? One big long metaphor about how fathers should relate to sons. That's a huge part of the franchise's DNA and anything that screws with that gets hated on.

Black April and Raph as leader are pissing people off (I don't like the latter myself). But the real problem is that the TMNT are different species. It screws with the family dynamic.

Splinter and the turtles are not related. Does this screw their dynamic? Hell no.
The being different species is only a ploblem, because it doesn't make sense: how can you buy four turtles of different species and hold them together, when a snapping turtle can actually eat other turtles?

>how can you buy four turtles of different species and hold them together, when a snapping turtle can actually eat other turtles?

Because they are anthro mutants who only eat pizza

>Splinter and the turtles are not related.
This literally depends on the series.
In about half of them, Splinter is the human genetic component of the turtles.

My point still stands: being related by blood is not that important

Yes, but if you notice, I never said blood.
I cited the first live action movie, where they're not blood related but instead they double down on the father/son dynamic and play it super hard throughout all parts of the movie. I cited the IDW comics, where they're not related by blood *now* but are some kind magic reincarnations.
There's plenty of ways to do it without making them related by DNA, but the idea of them being a family is always present.
Making them different species detracts from that. Especially because, like pointed out, no pet shop is going to sell four different species like that. Especially not when one of them would eat the others.

You're not gonna watch it anyway. Stop pretending to care.

Psst.
tmntentity.blogspot.com/2018/02/was-april-oneil-originally-black-in.html

Spread the word.

> If your argument is that Eastman and Laird meant to draw a black woman but drew a white woman by mistake, then meant to color a black woman but colored a white woman by mistake, then meant to ask Richard Corben to draw a black woman but accepted his drawing of a white woman by mistake… then I don't think this article is for you.

FAKE NEWS

>CHANGE
>CHAAANGE
>I FUCKING HATE CHANGEEE
>NO BLACK APRIL, NO RAPH LEADER, EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE THE SAME
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEE

April being black does not affect the character. Raphael being leader does.

>white supremacy
First mistake: talking about "white supremacy" as if it is a real thing
The word is SupremacISM you fucking dweeb
Not to mention the KKK hated the ethnonationalist (NOT supremacist) National Socialists, comparing their two ideologies just shows how little you know
People like you are the reason Skinheads are still relevant, fuck you

>April being black does not affect the character. Raphael being leader does.

Psst, it's actually quite fine to change 'the character'. Every single cartoon and comic has done this. It's basically inevitable as new writers or voice actors take over.
