Elections are only 4 months away! We have to get started on memeing Geert into power.
Summary of election process for non-Dutchies below.
>We vote for the 2nd chamber, our house of representatives. We hold a national vote and the parties are represented proportionally, no districts or anything. You get 15% of the national vote? You get 15% of the seats. It's very rare for a party to get an absolute majority, in fact I don't know if that has ever happened.
>Geert has a real chance to become the largest party, because the landscape is so fragmented (currently, over a dozen parties hold seats). All the others are competing with each other while Geert's PVV is the only one that really stands out as anti-islam and anti-globalist.
>If you're the largest party you get the opportunity to form a government, but for this you need to work together with other parties since you need a majority. If everyone outright refuses to work with the PVV, he would not be able to do so and eventually other parties would form alliances. However, if Geert gets enough seats (I think 40-45 out of 150 is a real possibility. This is optimistic but far from unreasonable), then it would be very hard for the other parties to form a majority coalition without him. It would probably require 5 or 6 parties working together, some of which have stark contrasts in policy (for instance the liberal VVD and the socialist SP). If that happens, I think some of them might walk back on their pledge of refusing to work with the PVV, and in that case we would indeed see a government with Geert as Prime Minister. Second, not all parties have even made such a pledge. It's more of a social stigma (because of muh racism), but it could be justified by the argument that the people have spoken and the alternative is NO government.
>Conclusion: Geert has a real chance of ending up in power if he's willing to compromise on some issues and the other parties are desperate enough to give him a chance.
