Ennis has this ability to write dialog that makes Moore's look like a robot wrote it by comparison. It's a shame he never wants to write like that anymore. You can tell this comic was written years ago when he put more effort into his work and wasn't so self-indulgent.

This is a really understated moment, but if they ever were to adapt a Punisher story into film I honestly think this should be it solely for the fact that I think this moment would be utterly profound on film with live actors.

And he met Fury pretty late in the game, though it was definitely during the Force Recon period of his life. Is he going to partner up with Wolverine in the mother fucking jungles of Vietnam?

Ennis writes Frank so much larger than life. I find it amazing how his writing of Puinisher conveys so much emotion (when Frank himself seems almost devoid of it).
They already said who he was in the first issue.

its FRANK. with a cheap fake beard with a price tag in it.
The original writers got the tragedy part. It wasn't until AFTER Ennis that everyone decided he should just be a robotic killing machine and nothing else.
Almost guaranteed he teams up with Fury in 'Nam, dude. He wrote My War Gone By and that confirmed that they meet during his second tour of duty, so that basically is all you need to know right there.
Fuck, I'm tearing up. This book is too damn good.

I don't think it would be good to mix Punisher MAX with Wolverine.
Punisher MAX doesn't really work in a world with mutants / super heroes / etc.
Yeah, that's why I brought up him meeting Fury during his Force Recon period. But in MWGB's canon, when Frank and Fury met up it pretty quickly signaled the "end" of Giap and was set in 1970, so I kinda wonder how they'd angle a story post all that.
I'm just guessing here, but I'd guess Ennis will come up with some "secret mission" shit or something.
