Why did Alan Moore write this?

Why did Alan Moore write this?

why not

I know is soft core porn but exactly what is the book about?

Little girls getting raped

Alice, Dorothy, and Wendy fuck in a hotel room and tell stories about fucking as children.

Because Alan Moore though he could do to erotica what he did to comics, but being who he was he tried to do it with public domain characters and just fucked up and created something he would want to read.

He wanted to do some non-brainless porn.

It ended up feeling pretty juvenile though; simply making known stories about underaged sex.

Art is pretty in some places though.

He wanted to proactively steal SHADMAN glory; he failed miserably.

He wanted to do to classic literature characters what DC is doing to watchmen

>He wanted to do to classic literature characters what he's always done to existing IPs
FTFY

When you're a star, they'll let you print anything

wanted to trigger Johnsfags in the current year

Vaughan is unironically a better erotica writer than Moore.

Alice, Dorothy, and Wendy converge in a hotel on the eve of world war 1. Alice leads Dorothy and Wendy to sexual liberation because they're both repressed in different ways. They fuck, tell childhood sexual abuse stories, and take lots of drugs. Occasionally hotel staff is involved. Eventually, WW1 kicks off and people abandon the hotel leaving just some people having an orgy. I think they then separate and flee or something. it's ok. Features stravinsky's the rite of spring, during which they have a threeway.

Because he's an old asshole who I'm pretty sure doesn't understand what the world is like nowadays.

>non-brainless porn
Isn't that almost an oxymoron? Are there like any examples at all outside of a few eurocomics?

Cash in on their popularity?

Because he has a fetish and if you can do what you love
and make money while doing it, why should you not do it.

Because Moore believes eurotica and porn is healthy to consume and that pent up sexual frustrations result in violence.

The latter of which is also a theme used in From Hell.

Regarding the public domain character, that's just Moore taking part in " Wold Newton family" which is essentially an expanded universe of public domain literary characters that pulp writers have played with since the 70's.

Make them interesting?

Yeah know after hearing all the complaints about this comic I finally read it the other day. Being asexual and not into "porn" comics I actually found this really well planned out. Not necessarily the story or art, but the amount of planning Moore put into this, the pacing, division of panels to represent different worlds, the scenes with the shadows in the background, duel dialogue meaning from what is being spoken and what is actually occurring, the different art styles for the different scenes, all of it under the surface was really spectacular to read and go through. That said some of the symbolism seemed obvious and there wasn't much of a story, but even the "worst" of Moore's work, he tackles these comics on so many different levels I can't hate his work.

Oh, you hilarious faggot, you.

Thats something ive always enjoyed about moore's work. hes always been both a consummate professional, a highly competent writer, and a excellent plotter and story-boarder.

Yeah his only real "hack work" was when he first started at Image, before eventually getting back on track with stuff like Supreme and eventually his ABC line.
