ComicsPro retailer panel talk

ComicsPro retailer panel talk

This is what success does to a company.

I remember NYCC last year. The Marvel retailer panel had a near riot when some retailers were yelling at them to stop turning everyone into minorities and women. The DC panel started off with Didio and Lee coming in to entrance music and high fiving everyone on the way to the stage. Good times.

I don't get it? Marvel's acting as if they don't like all of the negativity that's dogged them for the last couple of years.

That can't be true right?

I remember that. It was hilarious.

apparently the """""rumor"""""" is that F4 is coming back with Donny Cates writing

Well, it is their own fault. And more is going to go their way if they keep keep pulling more bullshit.

Disappointed that Akira Ishida hasn't turned the company around back to the House of Ideas and more fan/business friendly company. Guess he is doubling down like Axel Alonso.

The solicitations had a lot of F4 collections so who knows.

Don't forget the best part: after the panel, people cornered the guy under Ike and threatened to beat him up.

What?

>apparently the """""rumor"""""" is that F4 is coming back with Donny Cates writing
Good to hear that Marvel is still either unwilling to pay for or unable to find new talent that they'll continue to stretch their existing stable thin to cover things.

The guy who's under Ike Perlmutter on the Marvel totem poll was cornered by shop owners at NYCC after the retailer panel. "Allegedly" they verbally harassed him and threatened to beat him up since shops were losing business thanks to his actions.

Marvel just don't care about the retailers. The comic book arm (more like a strand of hair really) is to act as a form of advertising for the films and as appeasement for SJW's.

They can replace a hero in the comics with a gay, minority, woman for easy publicity and strictly use profitable demographics in the film.

These two guys are retailers btw

That's the best thing I've ever heard. Hopefully something "accidentally" happens to him on his way home.

So Marvel has something interesting in their sleeve that's why they are so secretive. And DC has absolutely nothing that's why they are so transparent.
I mean this what I get from this tweets

And clearly in the pockets of Marvel. A lot of LCSes are run by absolute snakes. Just some of the slimiest faggots with zero integrity.

Hi Prof Warren

>When you hold a conference like it's a UN war council to keep fans from reposting your new release information but you don't have anything coming out

>So Marvel has something interesting in their sleeve

Yeah, they're putting Ta-Nehisi Coates on Captain America.

Cates is an interesting choice for the FF. Idk if he has what it takes but could be good. God Country kinda of has a family tone too it.

Unless they are bringing back a huge name like BKV or Brubaker, there's really no reason to be so hush on things

Well duh. Have you been to a comic book store?

another good point

Retailers stay bitching online when they overorder to get variants that their stores can't sell

true a successful company like Based Marvel would want to keep all it's great stories to be kept secret so it would be a wonderful surprise for their readers

>I remember NYCC last year.

The irony of someone assailing the integrity of others while also using homophobic slurs.

Yeah. Letting retarded retailers act like they're representing us consumers is not great.

The guy failing at Black Panther?

>brubaker
plz no

Afraid of how things are gonna turn out THIS year...

There's hardly any new talent in comics industry. I'm getting bored with Batman current writers and I wish the bat books get some new blood.

It's a shitshow because Ike Perlmutter allowed it to become one

y'know how I can tell that you're white?

>Coates writing Cap
>Starting the 4th of July
Oh fucking hell. Why does Coates even want to write a “white boi”?

I waited years for a Mockingbird solo, they even manage to use one of my favorite outfits for her too.

I wanted bug-eyed spy-thriller, with interesting art.

I was mad.
I am mad.
I will forever be mad.

And a Silver Surfer and a Galactus trade.

>Has King on Batman

Ah, 2017, when "King on Batman" seemed like a good idea

Jesus, what the fuck is happening this time. Did Marvel force everyone to sign confidentiality agreements

>fear of leaking to BC
What? Isn't Rich one of the biggest cocksuckers for Marvel?

Aren't leaks incredibly common at these things? And isn't it standard in other industries to try and prevent them?
Genuine question.

Oh go guzzle some cum fagola

Shut up faggot.

Hickman is already coming back

Rich is just a cocksucker in general

correct spelling and grammar?

This has always been the case, difference is, in the past DC published good comics too.

Hello newfag. Next time please don’t put your stupidity by acting like comics started with DC Rebirth. Marvel was kicking DC’s ass while Hickman was there even though Sup Forums said “Hackman” was shit.

>There's hardly any new talent in comics industry
And who's fault is that?

In sales maybe, the comics fucking sucked.

When?

Well, hickman's did, at any rate.

Also bendis', fuck bendis.

Hickman's Avengers was a MASSIVE decline in sales compared to Bendis'.

Security guards seems a little excessive.

Nobody cares that much about dumb cartoon books for babies.

>Jonathan Hickman and Dustin Weaver’s SHIELD #5 and #6 for May 2018

Marvel's comics have been 95% shit for almost a decade now.

>Nobody cares that much about dumb cartoon books for man-babies
ftfy

welcome to the world where 95% of everything is shit

They were afraid of getting beaten

Probably because he ditched big names like Spider-Man and Wolverine, no? Quality wise both are in the same league.

That's not coming back, those were done for years now.

Wasnt that the one where Morrison teleported to the panel floor?

More like 80%. Marvel is just extra bad.

I wish I had the time or the fucks to check if you're right.

Well yeah, most of the good stuff had a grand finale back in early 2011 or so. Coincidentally when the editors got fired.

That was supposedly done years ago.

When I used to buy comics more often, I'd go to this guy's shop a lot. Nice guy, but a total snob when it comes to the indie comic superiority meme.

It's funny cause his initial line up did have spider-man and sniktbub

Did he hurt your wittle fweewings, capeshitter?

cringe

Or maybe because Hackman's "Avengers" consisted of fucking nobodies like Hyperion and Ex Nihlo.

Watch it, /asp/ie.

Honestly comics are never going to get a bigger readerbase if the only place you see comics is in comic stores. If they could just make some budget comics of heroes like The Hulk and Batman and put them in Walmart next to the action figures at a low price like 1.50 then they'd probably get a lot more readers, some of whom would ask their parents for more, and some who would grow up to go to the comic shops themselves.

Like just do everything you can to lower the cost of these things since they're for kids. Reprint old comics on low quality paper and stuff them full of toy advertisements.

Fuck off indiefag

I mean... bendis' had the fucking Sentry and were led by Power Man disguised as a random black civilian. But there were sniktbub and Spider-Man for those sweet sales for moviegoer kids.

You stwiw cwaying?

Do people even use boi? I only see people say it like that in gay porn.

I don't get it because Rich e-mails Marvel/DC with every leak and thing he gets to try and confirm it and see if its okay to run or if they want him not to.

Menachem go

I'd be surprised if they really did this. Coates isn't achieving any sort of commercial success in comics, giving him a flagship title would make less than zero sense.

How is it a bad idea? It's doing gangbuster numbers and is getting widespread critical acclaim. I think a lot of that acclaim is overblown myself, but King on Batman is moving books and making money.

Exactly, years of "we like making people angry" and being smug is finally catching up to them. Even DC at its shittiest wasn't this bad not to mention Didio always took questions and was humble even when people were shrieking at him in the Q & A sessions (years of working as a debt collector made hum fearless too).

Even after N52 and DCYou we got DC admitting were they fucked up and decided to actually listen and then Rebirth happened and it was a success for them.

Marvel never apologizes amd never admits they are wrong. Alonso, Brevoort amd other editors still defend OMD and Sins Past and othet shitty and unpopular ideas and act like they can do no wrong.

Based DC.

Untwist your panties you homo

Isn't it time to just let comic book stores die?

>Coates isn't achieving any sort of commercial success in comics

Ah. The old "WRITER X ain't selling books" meme.

I think Marvel might have abetter grip on their sales numbers than some rando on Sup Forums.

No, Marvel shill, it isn't.

>rando
Heh.

they already did

They must've hidden the numbers from Ike pretty well, then, played him like a fiddle.

fagola cola

I'm glad they still sell some comics at my LFPS though.

Quite literally a newfaggot.

Nah, brah. Professional journalist. Been researching Sup Forums and it's culture toxic masculinity for a couple of years now. My article is about to drop in a the next couple of weeks -- hope y'all enjoy the exposure.

>>using "(((ah)))" in a post
fuck off

He's not, though. Look at the numbers that get posted here every month and tell me that Coates is making money for Marvel. He can't even breach 50,000. He's not A-list material.

Out of curiosity I asked the guy at my LCS how Marvel sells at his shop. He says he has a test, the "My Little Pony" test, in which if a Marvel book sells less than a MLP book, its a bomb. Many have failed this test. Now I don't know the exact numbers, or if my area is high with THOSE types of people who buy that book (god I really hope not), but it seemed like a funny way of illustrating Marvel's current sales.

Then lurk moar

The earliest issues of MLP sold pretty well for a non-big two book, but I imagine at this point it dropped a lot.

Probably not worse than America, though.

Is that a fair test? Because autists are willing to shell out big money for shit products.
Then again comic book nerds are all autists in one degree or another, so I guess it check out.

Remember to name all the monstergirl (buggirls specially since caturdays are gone), the snu snu threads, the cheesecake and beefcake threads, the chocolate threads and the robot chicks threads.

'xactly.

>Ah. The old "WRITER X ain't selling books" meme.
It is a fact known writers get more of their book sold just by their name alone. Its only logical the reverse can happen if everyone thinks you're a shitty writer.

To my knowledge, that fandom isn't as big as it used to be, or at least from what I've personally seen from here/standard memes. But I have no idea how that shit sells. Regardless, Marvel books shouldn't be losing to something like that
