Last weekend's thread:
desuarchive.org/co/thread/98714714/

Last time:

-Talked about Moira some more as well as the seasons girls
-The seven space pirate admirals of Blang space
-The Sorority of Sentinels, the JLA equivalent in the Golden Girl setting got discussed some more
-Other stuff I didn't mention

It wasn't a long thread last time.

These are some neat designs.

Each one has a little bit of background given last thread starting here Then we started coming up with story ideas for them.

Are there any prominant Orc or Goblins in the Sup Forumsverse canon?

Prominent? No. None that come to mind.

I'd imagine orcs would be found in The Wandering Country or one of the more fantasy orientated demon planes, like the one where elves live. I doubt they'd be found in Otherworld, but they might, though they'd be constantly getting into fights with the redcaps.

Not really sure where you'd find goblins, but they're somewhere if someone wants them to be in the setting.

which setting do they belong to? those space twins?

Yeah, Blang Dynasty.
I like it when we talk about the space part of the setting.
I think Photssh would be spying on the home world of the Carinids since they keep coming up with super advanced technology.

I'd also like to think there's a bright red mad scientist Carinid who is head of the PKs' tech development who they keep in something all but a prison in name. He's too brilliant, a mind like that could destroy worlds if someone or something pointed him in that direction.

I've expanded the Sorority of Sentinels script. I found a way to get the SOS exposition to flow back to GG. Just need a specific scenario to fill out panel 3.

>PANEL 1: Establishing shot of the headquarters of the Sorority of Sentinels, a Hall of Justice-esque building. Silver Queen and Golden Girl are disembarking from their motorcycle and heading inside.
>GG (NARR.): Sometimes, Silver Queen brings me along when she attends a meeting of the Sorority of Sentinels.

>PANEL 2: Inside, SQ and GG are greeted by the other team members: Crimson Cat, Thunderwoman/Donna Dynamo, Connie Cosmos/Star Princess, White Ghost, and Black Rose.
>GG (NARR.): They're a team of superheroines who get together to save the world, swap crimefighting tips, or just catch up with each other.

>PANEL 3: SOS off doing world-saving stuff
>GG (NARR.): Silver Queen's kind of the unofficial leader, and sometimes she can be off for a few days whenever a particularly big mission comes up.

>PANEL 4: Back in the city, GG is punching out a crook, with another one already laid out on the ground.
>GG (NARR.) (1): So whenever that happens, I end up holding down the fort by myself for a while.
>GG (NARR.) (2): Honestly, I'm getting pretty good at it, if I do say so myself!

>PANEL 5: As SQ chats with some of her teammates, others greet GG with the sort of semi-distant affection adults usually give a friend's kid they don't see very often.
>GG (NARR.): They always tell me I'm developing into quite the superhero myself.

>PANEL 6: The SOS members continue chatting with each other. GG, standing roughly about chest-high compared to the superheroines, silently observes that they all have fairly ample bosoms.
>GG (NARR.) I've noticed they're all pretty "developed" themselves...

>PANEL 7: GG looks down at her own chest, raising an eyebrow at the realization that she's the biggest one in the room.
>GG (NARR.): Although frankly, I think I'm already the most developed one here!

Panel three could be like a movie poster, all the sentinels throwing punches at like a robot army or standing victoriously on top of a destroyed invading alien space ship.

Panel 6 could be wordless and panel 7 could be her just saying "I think I'm already developed enough."
But that's just a suggestion.

So in The Wandering Country aside from the dwarves who mostly live on their technical masterpiece (The Wandering City), the dark elves who are nomadic tribes, and the vikings who live on the back of the massive water serpent dragon, what else is in The Wandering Country?

The only landmarks are the ones that move, but who else lives in that little pocket of reality?

Been thinking about these designs, and Lily's hair, and I had a thought since people asked if her hair was this color before or because of the transformation.

So, what if this was her color before (as in dyed), but as part of her transformation it becomes a shimmering golden-blonde?

Also, she should actually be a bit of a hippy, and work in a flower shop or something.

Why would you associate blonde with spring? Gold dosen't feel like a spring color to me.

I don't think any of them have time for any of that secret identity stuff since whenever they do have time, there's a backlog of weird shit that needs fighting a mile long.

I wasn't thinking of a secret identity, just that's what her normal "form" is like.

>Why would you associate blonde with spring?
Because it's bright but still earthy.

Normal form as in hair color or fashion sense?

I think her working in a flower shop is too on the nose and I'm not sure if that sort of thing works with her interest in pagan stuff since a lot of that is very bloody business.
I'm saying if she's working there BECAUSE of her interest in mystical stuff, then no.
If she's working there to abuse her powers and make quick cash to fund her group's operations or pay off damages that Marian isn't covering, then yet.

>If she's working there to abuse her powers and make quick cash to fund her group's operations or pay off damages that Marian isn't covering
I always like when heroes use their powers to make money.

>Normal form as in hair color or fashion sense?
I...Don't understand what you mean? I mean that her hair when unpowered is that color, and it changes to a natural color when she transforms.

Great. Much better. Wouldn't change a thing.

As I see it, the only real difference when they transform is in costume and small cosmetic things like horns, sticks, or flowers. So I don't get what you mean by "normal" form. Like what they wear when not in costume? Because their clothes look to be the main difference to me.

Also, we never did settle on the additional powers suggested a few threads ago for Winter with her using her staff as a lens to freeze things in time and not just in ice when she looks at them through the lens at the end of her staff. I am trying to be as specific as I possibly can with this since I know someone will read it and still not get what I mean.
The lens isn't even necessary, it just helps her focus enough to do it.

Could be cool if her staff has a crystal insert that looks like what she sees is encased in ice, but really it's frozen still.

>the only real difference when they transform is in costume and small cosmetic things like horns, sticks, or flowers.
Could just be used as a tiny bit of further explanation where certain changes don't occur (or do occur) when the transformation happens.
>So I don't get what you mean by "normal" form.
Her unpowered form.
> Like what they wear when not in costume?
Yeah. Sort of like how the magic clothes take the place of their street clothes when they transform, other changes occur.

A crystal would work, fits the whole look she's going for I think.

OK, so base form human, what changes when they transform? Are you talking eye color, skin color (expect the thread to now be derailed with the mere mention of this), hair color, etc. on top of the clothing changing and also the cosmetic accessories?

> Are you talking eye color, skin color, hair color, etc. on top of the clothing changing and also the cosmetic accessories?
Yeah, or maybe it only changes for Lily because of her dyed hair and changes to her natural [insert color] when transformed, if we want to play up the nature side of it. I thought up this idea when thinking of whether a character with cosmetic alterations (piercings, hair dye, tattoos) would have them after an expressly magical transformation.

> fits the whole look she's going for I think
I think it would serve as a good visual as well, where the first time we see the thing "frozen in ice" but then the viewpoint moves and it's revealed to be an illusion and it's really just frozen by itself.

Hmm, unless the hair/tattoos have magical properties on their own already, I guess they would get covered up by transformation magic.

It really depends on the type of magic since it's a catch all excuse for making things happen.

I don't know why, but Oul was my favourite physical design. Creating a bunch of space weirdos brought back memories of the Ur-Quan series.

I wonder how many scenes end or begin with Photssh appearing from his natural camouflage, having been there the entire time...

How many times has he spooked the shit out of Blang's kids when they were growing up?

I wonder which of the seven admirals Cookie and his crew would meet first.

>How many times has he spooked the shit out of Blang's kids when they were growing up?
You know, it's funny, somehow this is the first time I ever considered that his kids had to be actual kids at some point. I do wonder if they were the same back then... twins annoying one another while sitting on each of Dag Han's knees on the bridge with Papa Blang.

>I wonder which of the seven admirals Cookie and his crew would meet first.
Probably one of the straightforward-but-fun ones, I'd say. You'd need to start simpler but still provide a good foil to the heroes.

His kids must've watched him win some crazy fights when he was still near his prime. Both ended up idolizing their old man in different ways.

I guess his empire was already up and running by the time they were born, but I doubt he raised them in a castle, unless Blang's personal ship is actually a huge asteroid WITH A CASTLE BUILT INTO IT.
Mobile capital cities are great.

But at least some of the seven probably played a role in raising them, maybe even in an attempt to mold them into something they could use later.
All the constant input from so many different sources might've spoiled them.

My wondering in this case is more of the natural (their birth skin, hair, etc.) overrides the artificial in this context, since their powers ultimately come from nature.

>unless Blang's personal ship is actually a huge asteroid WITH A CASTLE BUILT INTO IT.

If the mini-comic is anything to go by, he has a flying spiky asteroid bubble-city thing called The Black Star, which probably counts.

But yeah, I imagine they met at least a few of the Seven in their earlier days. Dag's apparently like a sort of big grandpa pirate.

It'd make sense.

Kalana tried to teach Quaslan how to use her feminine charms when she was growing up, it never took.

Tennoc was like a sponge soaking up everything she tried to teach him. She taught him all about how to play the political field.

Tennoc took to all except the subtlety part, I'm sure. And Quaslan likes breaking things too much.

It's like a bigger pirate version of the floating city.

All his diplomacy skills though, she taught him that.
When he wants to it the enemy with his sword, she says she didn't teach him that.

You know, you're making me think. All this talk is trying to attach her to some element of a subculture (at last that's how I perceive it) or genre trend...So how would the youth subculture be represented in terms of style, if the subculture was based around folk and pagan things?

Okay, this isn't quite related to that, but hear me out... We talked about the possible biological adaptations of Blang's species, right? Naturally dark-adapted eyes and such.

What if the inside of the bubble of the Black Star is always simulating night time for Blang and his kids? That could be why it's called that, too.

I won't pretend to know anything about pagan culture so I can't really give a good answer.

It got its name because Blang raised his kids there and he kept it dark for them, so it'd be like a nursery or some equivalent.
Sounds funny until you see all the training facilities inside of it.

It doesn't have to be literal. Think more about how Richard Thompson's beret seems more like a troubadour's cap, or Ian Anderson appearing like a travelling minstrel.

What would "the kids" in this setting be into, and what is the visual style they'll adopt for it? I know this is very overcomplicated, but I think it's fun to think about.

Maybe it's less about fashion and more about lifestyle then. Dunno how that'd work since the group Spring is in operates in a modern way, no hippie nonsense.

"The kids" in which setting? Blang's kids or kids who are living through the magical inversion?

>kids who are living through the magical inversion?
That one.
>Dunno how that'd work since the group Spring is in operates in a modern way
Modern for the mid 00's

Which means there's still communication better than the 80s or the 60s.

Kids living through the inversion would probably be going nuts for all the magic stuff, so there's bound to be some magical bullshit trying to abduct kids left and right.
Instead of a windowless van with offers of free candy, there's talking woodland critters trying to lure kids off of cliffs by giving them "magic" feathers they say would let them fly.

Added a description for panel 3 inspired by , with a very minor tweak to the narration.

>PANEL 3: The SOS burst through the wall of an invading alien spaceship, with Silver Queen leading the charge towards the aliens.
>GG (NARR.): Silver Queen's kind of the unofficial leader, and sometimes she can be away for a few days whenever a particularly big mission comes up.

You have an active /aco/ thread. Use it.

Are you implying that GG isn't /coc/?

Don't give him attention.

How would that be conveyed in one panel?

Hole in the wall, heroes charging through it, evil aliens in the foreground realizing how screwed they are.

I like to imagine it looks like one of those perpetual-night cyberpunk cities inside, but with pirate bars.

You're right.

I think it's fine. Send it to your drawfriend.

How many pirate bars can you have in a pirate city?

Is a bar in a pirate city a pirate bar by default?

Well, you're not very well going to have a police bar.

Well, Axellus might have a fan bar in the capital.

There's a "police" bar themed around Axellus.
A casino that uses Vizz as their mascot.
Probably a red light district Kalana manages from the shadows.
A training ground for soldiers Chastori fight at whenever he visits.
A church no one attends unless Oul is in the city.
Old Dag is probably always on the command bridge when he's around.
And Photssh is probably popping up in places no one expects him to be.

...

...

Just a heads up, if it ever crosses anyone's mind to talk about Trine, I'm always lurking in the thread and working on the comic panels!

How far have you gotten since last time?

I've kinda hit a dry spell lately and drawing blanks on how to proceed as of late on the panel structure/ lettering and whatnot.

It's a whole lotta work but I never asked for it to be easy.

Part of me wants to see a Silver Queen Year One style story.

what do the flags mean? planets? are the characters named from a real foreign language or starwars space scifi type names?

They're the seven fleet admirals of an intergalactic space pirate empire, the flags are just what their ships fly. It's scifi names for sure.

They probably have large versions of them hanging on the back of all their command bridges and planets they govern.

This particular trait of transformation would be in the interest of a certain villain.

I do love it when things just click with a new suggestion.

We now have the reason why she thinks this would help.
Get the position, transform, no more tattoos, do the magic to get rid of them while they arn't there, and she's free in both forms.

It could also add into it that she's a bit resentful of them (mostly Lily) for using their powers for such petty things.

Makes me wonder if Winter ever uses her freezing powers to be a perv.

>I do love it when things just click with a new suggestion.
Same.

And what's better is that in terms of narrative it would never need to be explicitly spelled out. Just show Lily transforming and losing her dyed hair (because she's too young for tattoos and then you have the same "I wonder..." moment that would have (has she been named yet?).

Witches use magic for petty things all the time though.

It could be nothing personal to this witch.
Depends on the story and what type of character we want her to end up becoming.

I don't think she has a name yet.

Malise. It's a real name of Gaelic origin and brings "Malice" or "Malus" to mind.

>(because she's too young for tattoos

You just made me think. A way the youth culture draws inspiration and connection to the past: woad.

Like, they have semi-permanent body paint (like henna) that has celtic markings.

>Gaelic
ireland............

Ireland is still a part of the British isles.

It should be nuked, those ginger inbred drunk paddy mcmonkeys give it a bad name

So then you'd have no issues with it being a villain's name?

If micks HAVE to exist it should be to brutally murder and/or torture them after showing what horrible pieces of shit they are like ennis does so fine

That'd be a really cool visual.

And an explanation of why it changes with each artist or sometimes isn't present at all.

...

She was born into a coven of witches, so what's a good witchy sounding name?

That's a fine name. There, we just saved 2 years.

Malise Rathmore

...

Geri Altrooth

fucking awesome designs. Never been in one of these threads before, but the one who designed these has a bright future ahead of them

This guy's designs are pretty cool in general.

That's Morgan. The artist in the OP is a different person, but based Axellus off Morgan's Peace Keeper design. Then Morgan drew Axellus with the energy crystals.

>fuck what the creators and anyone without retardation has to say i'm a deformed brainless pedofile
good post

Yeah, I'm not at particularly interested in his story or whatever, but his designs are compelling. Particularly the Axellus Vels, Lanchabrian Chastori, weird oul, and the bottom right one with the mask in the "magicvillians.png" image.

OK.

That's the name of the witch that wants to skin her, if we're still doing that.

The first one is by an user who doesn't go by a name who draws the Blangs and Moira.

The second one is by Morgan.

Also by Morgan.
She did not draw the OP pic, just to get that out there.

Confusing, people need to just sign their work, even if it's just a Sup Forums name or something.

That's Orin, a member of The Dark Hearts, a group of 13 magic users (witches, wizards, warlocks, mages, etc) who preserved their bodies in another dimension where time works differently as a means to obtain immortality. They communicate with the rest of reality via their golems which they have scattered about across Earth, the demon planes, and other places we haven't thought up yet.
The mask that appears above the golem indicates which member is controlling it. They have many different types of golems for different tasks.

All the members all have different motives.

I should update the wiki page on them.

>the bottom right one with the mask in the "magicvillians.png" image
There's a whole set of those guys. They're magic users who stored their bodies in a timeless dimension for pseudo-immortality and use golems as proxy bodies.

Morgan only signs her works on occasion.

I mostly just don't remember to.

Now that's something I'd read about. Just make a story about them or featuring them as villains.

They're just everywhere. On the demon planes they're part of Erin's story, on Earth they secretly finance Sup Forumsntainment to point them at their rivals, Orin likes trolling the Seasons Girls because they're not allowed to fight him.

They range from villain to neutral to benevolent depending on which member you're dealing with.

I guess I'm saying if you blend them into the whole of /coc/ you'll be diluting what seems to be a very top-tier villain concept.

My recommendation is to spin them out into their own thing, or create a very very specific storyline featuring them. You've got something special with that concept and designs. Would be a shame to not see them developed.

That never works. Not once has that worked, all that has ever done is alienate something good and make it a forgotten concept.
They're "something special" right now because your imagination is free to think of anything with them. That's really the appeal to a great many things in /coc/.
Right now they're only playing roles in two other stories in the setting so they haven't gotten much focus.

Tell us your ideas for a story concerning them.

We don't know what the majority of them are really up to, so there's room to apply them differently. Allesia is one of the more benevolent ones and she's mostly being helpful because helping Erin helps her in the long run, and Orin is taking advantage of the magical resurgence in Europe for something uncertain. Orin has the pull and resources to be a major part of everything involving the magic Europe plot.

I see your point, but there are plenty of /coc/ things that live in their own little corner and don't really play with others and they survive just fine. Though honestly most everything fades here because it never turns into anything real, just concept art images that people eventually forget about (with the exception of some waifus) for the new hotness or whatever.

I just stumbled upon this Dark Hearts thing 20min ago, so I don't have any significant concepts. If I come up with any I'll share. I still believe they would make very top-tier villains for a standalone work.

If you came from /tg/ try sticking them in a game and see how that goes.

Morgan is also kind of interested in all kinds of things (Dark Hearts, Demons, Erin, Motion, random villain designs) and she's the one who first designed them.
So she's kind of the driving force behind them by virtue of having kept drawing them.

Want to hear something funny? The guy who uploads all the /coc/ stuff to the Sup Forums booru still hasn't caught on to your name.

One of the stories for them is basically "they win". Containment roughs up one of their lairs and captures one of their golems, so they buy their way into putting a leash on Containment. Now a big chunk of Containment's funding is dependent on their good graces, and they volunteer information about magical threats they want Containment to clean up for them.

The way they've been setup, they're kind of influencers more than direct villains. They've fallen into the sort of niche you'd usually see being called "The Organization".

>So she's kind of the driving force behind them by virtue of having kept drawing them.

For a practical example, the reason one is getting involved in the Season Girls plot is because Morgan included one in the lineup from

Moiraperson here. I've honestly considered using a name just to stop confusion like this, but since I don't have much of an online presence and don't generally like being too noticeable, I don't have an of-site artist name to use and the idea of using one here makes me nervous. I should probably get over that at some point. It doesn't help that I'm so used to people disliking names here over years.

Don't even have to use a name. Use a symbol "stamp." Anything to identify your work
