Here you just have to get your license. The wording of the law for secure storage is pretty nebulous, but for non restricted class firearms. (rifles 18" barrel and over) minimum interpretation is stored separately from ammunition with a trigger lock or an action lock on it. But if you put it in a locked container you can store it with your ammo.
