The thing the guys can release are a key. Since 2009 Assange has had a torrent of a huge number of files that personally incriminate lots of people in lots of governments. He didn't release this because more broadly wikileaks was about informing the public not taking out bad actors. This "Insurance package" is widely available but it's encrypted. To decrypt it you need the key.
The key or parts of the key are what people are talking about dumping. As some have mentioned the key may already be available in the Bitcoin block chain, but you would have to know where to look, which is information someone can dump.
It's not like we are waiting for a youtube post or something. It'll get spread in dark obscure corners of the internet likely over the TOR network first, and once someone confirms it works, you'll see it everywhere, here, reddit, youtube, it would be impossible to stop at that point.
