African Elephants influence the landscape since they're large enough to destroy trees.
While that sounds like strictly a bad thing, it means that areas which have the right climate to be forests will instead be savanna or plains, thus allowing lush savanna or plains to exist; if trees weren't destroyed, lush grassland would fill with trees for the same reason that it's lush.
