They get to watch the inevitable failure that comes with the position. In 4 years, the same people will come back and complain about their misfortunes. Instead of taking the initiative and actually working towards a better paycheck, they would rather sit back and wait for a politician to personally hand them a good job. People will get sick of the current party in control and vote the other way hence we get another shift. Repeat this process till we finally collapse.
Reminder they only got "muh popular vote" because Trump had no resources in California to turn out Republicans and Republicans didn't vote in California because the primary system wiped the GOP off of most the statewide races, two Democrats faced off for the US Senate and both were utter dogshit. I would like to see at least one amendment pass via convention of states within my lifetime, and that amendment has to be term limits for all federal elected officials. The state legislatures would agree to it because that would open up more seats for them to run for in the future. There are so many old dinosaurs in Congress who are way overdue for retirement and they've been there for 20 or even 30 years, which is obscene. If the state legislators amend the constitution to add term limits that will mean more of them will have a shot at getting a turn eventually.
If the states start passing amendments to the US constitution we could be looking at a whole new political ball game. If a supermajority of states can agree on amendments to pass it means there's been a paradigm shift in the political winds for America and the American left and the Democrat party will be getting the short end of the stick.
They have no bench left. John Edwards went to jail and Bernie Sanders is not going to run again. This is what a decade of Clinton and Obama has gotten them.

I am a long-time Democrat (center-left; support private-sector organized labor, reasonably socially liberal but generally believe in smaller government and I'm fiscally conservative); the newly evolving Republican party is now a lot more likely to get my vote versus the increasingly radicalized left-wing DNC. I may even switch my party affiliation if the DNC continues to further embrace the SJW marxist loonytoons, as I just wont have anything to do with that bullshit. There are millions of other registered Democrats who I guarantee feel exactly the same way I do.

The DNC has become the party of the coasts. They forgot that "from sea to shining sea" encompasses a lot of land that they normally just fly over and ignore. You can't win the presidency with just a handful of densely populated states with big city centers. Their long term goal was to give citizenship to 11 million illegal immigrants who would repay them with their votes, and keep repeating the process every few decades by leaving the border open. That game plan is up in smoke and now they have the unenviable task of convincing middle America of why the party of Hollywood and Wall Street is relevant to them.
