It's why I couldn't vote for him. Coal is antiquated. I don't want to breath that shit in.

You probably wont get an answer from people here. Even if people in charged believe in the right things. It's view on freedom handicapped the govt. from doing anybody.

You're showing yourself as an isolated individual that just listens to John Oliver all day and thinks that is the world.

Who? What are you talking about? Why, instead of giving me an actual answer, you show me that people just don't care (which we already know) and try to insult me?

CLEAN coal!

The Dems literally think solar is a clean energy source, even when the energy required to produce a single solar cell is 4-5x greater than what it will produce in its lifetime.

That isn't answering the question.

I bet your wife burns coal

>Why is it OK to not give a shit about the environment?
Because its what the opposite of Democrats think. That really is the reason why so many Republicans campaign on anti-environmental stewardship. Trump campaigned on clean coal and putting coal miners back to work because he wanted the votes. Its fashionable among conservatives to call global warming a hoax and to mock those who believe in it as "liberal pot smoking hippies."

The Bible contains many passages on environmental stewardship. And many conservatives of the past believed deeply in environmental stewardship.

it's because you couldn't vote for coal or not. Trump is the right choice for president. We should be asked about specific subjects.

They care more about votes than they do about truth. Sadly its been that way for a long ass time.

Because we'll all be dead by the time the Earth goes to shit.

the republican party is a total disgrace to conservatism tbqh

they took the honorable tradition of conservatism and raped it beyond recognition into an ultra-right wing insurgency of contrarians, extremists and people who want to be in total service to concentrated power

why is it so hard to find secular, small government people who aren't religious zealots, secretly KKK supporters, or conspiracy theorists?

I want a party that defends ALL civil rights, protects the environment, is fiscally responsible, and refuses to get involved in global wars.

How did the Repubs stop being that so dramatically? I am disappointed already in Trump starting to renege on much of what he said indirectly w/ his picks for cabinet.

Clean coal is actually within a standard deviation of Natural Gas with respect to PPM of pollutants and sustaining more than a tiny amount of power needs with renewables is impossible due to the observable fact of unreliable weather patterns. The idea that CO2 is going to overtake the sun's output and the natural climatic cycle of the earth is a retarded theory which has been repeatedly wrong in its predictions by many orders of magnitude.

Why is it OK not to give a shit about the scientific method and pretend to care about the environment?

The elite will escape to the stars.

Have some pasta shills

The MSM is in full war mode not against alternate media but THE PEOPLE

The MSM is at war with US because people no longer buy their lies wholesale
The MSM is at war with common people having free expression of ideas and having a medium of information OTHER than the MSM

Twitter is in full force banning anyone not 100% liberal faggots
Google is changing their algorithms AGAIN
Fagbook is being encourage by King Nigger to actively censor what THEY deem as "fake news"
The MSM has lost control of the narrative and are pissed, they didn't lose it to "alternative media" they lost it to the people, us common low born scum who should not be able to have our own narrative.

Lads we are in a full blown war against the MSM now and it is going to get worse or from a Sup Forums perspective A LOT MORE FUN.

We need to turn our attention towards journalists PERSONALLY, we need to turn on editors and news directors PERSONALLY.

Theses MSM organizations have made it perfectly clear they will personally destroy people and small businesses PERSONALLY if they do not kneel before their narrative.

They have no problem targeting average citizens for smear campaigns and attacks if they DARE say something counter to their leftist fascist globalist agendas.

So we should have no problem targeting them, dig up every piece of dirt on every journalist, their family their friends their neighbors, and if we can't find anything we will just make stuff up.

Keith Lberalman? cocaine addict pictures are floating around the internet of him snorting coke off a Philippino hooker ass

Wolf Bitcher? Killed his neighbors dog by feeding it huge amounts of dark chocolate because it barked too much

Anderson Creeper? We know he is gay but holy shit did you know he frequented bars that cater to 13-14 year old boys and plies them with booze and drugs to rape them?

get the idea?

Do you have a source for a single thing you just said

Because I don't give enough shits about it.

Because most alternative energy sources haven't been properly researched or found ways to develop it more efficiently and they instead just hope "Field Testing" works.

I do agree we should come up with some alternative energy sources as a backup at least in case we run out of oil/coal/etc. We do have a finite resource of it unless we can make nanotechnology that can make a carbonic allotrope type fuel.

We do believe in preserving the environment, but that doesn't make lobbyists securing grant money and sudsidies suddenly right about something they only have the flimsiest evidence to support.

"Scientific statistics" is your blind faith in a false idol.

>portugal

really u should shut the fuck up

It seems to me that governments of humanity, when you really boil them down to the sole singular essence, should have one objective.

The preservation of the human race. The fact that we have a president, government, and populace that all seen to want to move against this goal and walk themselves off a cliff confuses and astounds me.

Is it really so hard to trust the vast majority of the scientific community on this one? I mean I get that they are those " collage educated types" who think they are better and smarter than you just because they have a fancy piece of paper but newsflash they are, most likely, smarter than you and have spent the better part of the last 4 decades researching this topic. They know what they are talking about. It's not some hoax or myth. I know you like driving your big truck and I know you like the comforts that fossil fuels bring but I assume you like being alive more, and I assume your children like that as well I assume that the prime directive of humanity is to survive. So why are we actively trying to fuck that up?

Because the Alarmists have been lying about the coming apocalypse for decades now. People stopped caring about the environment because the doomsday predictions never came true and now all talk of ecological impacts can be safely dismissed as "Climate Change Scientists" lobbying for more funding and research grants.

Even liberals tend to ignore what they say these days, they only bring it up in argument when it's convenient. This isn't the early aughts or the 90s anymore, Ferngully and Captain Planet are old hat. People care about having their fucking heads cut off or losing their jobs more than they care about carbon emissions.

Because according to a new report to the UN, co2 isn't the main source of global warming and everything's within the margin of error. The ice caps have GROWN since 2011. I know it's info wars but everything is cited by prominent scientists and includes the report infowars.com/climate-report-to-un-trump-right-un-wrong-skeptics-deliver-consensus-busting-state-of-the-climate-report-to-un-summit
Trump was right

>people still falling for climate change meme

>Environment goes to shit.
>Nobody can ever breathe without filters and masks.
>NASA finally get funding and we go to ruin a new pristine planet.

Trump is truly the master of 4D Chess.

it's just one aspect of the many ways America is an exceptional country

the political spectrum in the US just so radically shifted towards the right compared to the rest of the world, the republican party would be inconceivable in almost any other nation in the west.
US conservatism in the past had a very strong and honorable libertarian streak and they often strongly argued against abuse of private citizens by powerful corporate entities (and they did it with reference to the large thinkers of the enlightenment like David Hume).
Now "Republican" in most cases just means "ultra-reactionary statist"
It's an incredible loss, not only for the US but for the world

>the GOP and president elect literally think global warming is a Chinese myth
The Democratic rival thinks it's Russian myth, according to John Podesta.

>he fell for the "coal is evil!!!" meme

Hydroelectricity is always good although you guys down there don't have the sort of water systems we have.

Nuclear is efficient and safe as well.

IMO we should be spending money on making hydroelectricity and nuclear energy more efficient.

Let's be honest, fossil fuels won't last forever. Even if you take climate change out of the equation we should still be looking at newer, more efficient ways of generating electricity.

Coal IS a renewable energy source.

It renews very slowly, but it does.

That being said, I suggest you take a look what goes into making solar panels, you'll not like the damage to the environment involved.

The real issue is that the "vast majority" of the scientific community isn't qualified to discuss climate change, and that statistic that 98% of climate scientists agreed on GW was actually bullshit, it was the flimsiest sort of manipulated statistic.

The data is actually still very much out on what precisely the human effect on the climate is, to what degree it is following natural trends and merely being accelerated by human behavior, and what the effects will be. The models have been consistently wrong. The predictions have consistently failed. I don't care if a bunch of scientists agree on something if they turn out to be wrong, and so far they have.

The way I see it if any of you retards were serious about this, you'd have stopped bitching about nuclear power and we'd all be looking like France by now. But we both know that this isn't actually about the environment, it's about finding an excuse to tax energy more so that you can buy more nigger votes with the money.

Daily reminder that we are part of the natural world as well and when you damage the environment you damage yourself.

Environmentalism is not a choice, it is a requirement. We will learn this soon enough.

>the political spectrum in the US just so radically shifted towards the right
Us political spectrum ranges from center to mid-right. Nothing about it is radical, unlike Europe with your far, far-left parties that see significant power. For examples, Slovenia has declared that people with wells on their property no longer have the right to prevent people from drinking from their well.

This is plain wrong.

t. Solar Panel engineer

Perhaps we'll find your post to be credible when you've mastered the absolute basics of the English language, you nigger.

And why should we put our absolute trust in people that have been doompauling that nature will kill us all since the 80s? According to some of these "studies", we should have all died sixteen years ago.

Your country is literally a shithole with a propped up economy being overrun by terrorists because of the liberals. American conservatives may be the only sane party left then. There's some zealots that get negative attention but we're the only party that wants a balanced budget, to eliminate generational welfare due to debt, a border of some for and not just open borders with no oversight, strengthen the middle class by creating a more favorable environment for business to thrive (that's what made America exceptional in the first place), strong military, allows you the freedom to own firearms, against government over regulation and most want the federal government to have a small role in everyone's life. It's the party of freedom vs the European cultural Marxist policies that don't even grant you free speech. You had a Comedian almost get prosecuted for insulting Ergodan. You can get arrested for hatespeech. You can't own guns and your government serves the globalists not the citizen. If your country is so great where's your military?

>GOP
>ultra right wing
Only a foreign cuck is clueless enough to thing this.

The GOP and the DFL only differentiate on inconsequential surface deep social issues. If the GOP was ultra right wing they wouldn't be almost universally in favor of Mexican immigration. Almost all Republican senators, congressmen, and all major donors are pushing for illegal immigrants. They want the cheap labor to stay. They want to use foreigers to boost GDP.

That isn't being ultra right. Its being a leftist cuck who only virtue signals on pointless topics like gay marriage.

A solar battery can produce more energy than it requires to make in the same way that a cfl lightbulb lasts longer than a conventional bulb. The statements are true only as long as you exclude the large percentage of batteries/cfls that fail in the first few minutes.

you actually can care about the environment without flipping out over wacky doomsday theories

>A solar battery
What is this supposed to be?

>Why is it OK to not give a shit about the environment?
fuck off ..i give a lot of shit to the environment.

>it renews very slowly

Millions of fucking years.

In any sort of practice, it's non-renewable.

Well TECHNICALLY...

Silicon?
Like fucking crushing stones?

Shiieht.

A group of cells is called a battery

I didn't now that ordinary lithium-ion batteries get a new name if you use them for solar pannels.

If its a myth and hoax why does the average chinese now have enough wealth to afford cars since we slaughtered our manufacturing and gave them all the jobs?

>the average Chinese can afford a car

Wow, such wealth

...

The Nazis were famously very conscious of the environment and making Germany beautiful and sustainable, a concept that goes well before the global warming problem.

I am not sympathetic with the Nazis like much of Sup Forums is, but it is infuriating that both evangelical conservatives and modern national socialists would neglect this in a show of massive partisanship and hypocrisy. There should be an endless fight to protect the environment, the only group that should be expected to not give a shit about the environment is the dogmatic capitalists. A part of national socialist rejection of capitalism was in its abuse of the environment for money, abuse of the HOMELAND for money. National socialism, as many people seem aware of here, was an aesthetic movement as much as it was one of political modernism. It imagined a progressively better future for the nation-state, and one that was literally more beautiful than what came before. Capitalism would subvert beauty for profit, clearly seen in the dreary mess of industrial factories clouding cities in smog and increasingly destroying the countryside, only to be stopped by the people saying they couldn't take it anymore.

And now here we are, the conservatives abandoning this very old tradition, so far as to laugh at the idea of defending the environment and trying to emasculate anyone who would want to do so. Trump and the Republicans would honestly be so much more likeable as a party if they acknowledged climate change and did what they could to at least soften its blow. That includes new energy infrastructure, planning for natural disasters that WILL occur in the coming decades, disasters that could render some port cities crippled, coming up with agricultural plans for the land that will be unviable, etc.

Climate change won't be stopped. All we can do is deal with it, and honestly there are a lot of opportunities to make money and reshape society with the manner in which we deal with it.

Coal is the cleanest form of energy.

Man made global warming is a myth. No amount of tax money you send to the government or some UN panel will stop global warming if it is happening.

>coal is the cleanest form of energy

I want to believe you're joking, I really do, but look where we are.

An earth where the only evidence of anything possibly going wrong is wierd fish breeding cycles (in the field of marine biology, if anyone ever tells you that breeding cycles are ever normal, they are a liar) and some damage on a few coral reefs, more likely caused by bacterial damage from direct skin contact with divers than any other source?

go learn about Thorium Serbro

dis nigga trollin'

Pollution doesnt fucking matter. This planet and its flora and fauna will figure out a way to deal with people, and people will figure out how to deal with changes. The best thing we can do right now is pillage the Earth so our future genenerations can be part of the small percentage that surivive.

I, too, enjoy supplying weapons grade nuclear technology to factories worked by thousands of unvetted workers.

pođi malo do Pljevalja da vidiš kako je ugalj zdrav

Just be glad your candidate Hillary didn't win, you'd be breathing Russian shrapnel.

>an engineer is responsible for the manufacturing process and sourcing all of the materials required in a way that generates a profit

jej
We both know the only reason the renewable industry exists is due to massive guberment subsidies

Damn right.
>coal is bad because of all the pollution that results of the mining operations to extract it!
>All the precious minerals used to make electronics? Those mining operations don't count!

Silicon PV panels are dirty as fuck. They're not an answer to anything, not to mention conversion efficiency is still way too low. There is no real answer for mass energy storage during non peak hours. Wind power is laughably bad for dozens of reasons.
The Green energy movement is like one giant investor scam industry and everyone is trying to get a piece of the pie before it dries up.

It's not okay, but they do it anyway because of greed.

Dams solve that energy storage problem quite handily. You produce a surplus of energy during the day, then utilize pumps powered by renewables to take water already routed downstream back upstream. You fill the reservoir, and drain it as needed to supply extra water to the dam for power generation.

Dams are structures only suited to select few geological areas and tend to be really intensive construction projects. They're not something you could install everywhere.

I want to use this in arguments but I can't source Sup Forums. You got a source for this shit?

Trump is speaking the language of the left so that we can continue using a viable energy source. It is an unfortunate part of politics, but dont play dumb and pretend you dont understand that.

Also, stop it with the proxy, leaf. We all have seen the 10 other shit threads you have made today.

My question is:
Who are we supposed to sell our fossil fuels too if we effectively stop using them globally within 100 years?

It's not like coal mining is a good job, it fucking kills you.
Hillary Clinton offered a plan to give people in coal mining communities free education and training to move into other fields, but whatever.

All Trumps energy plan will do is put us behind other countries. Someday solar is going to be so cheap, it'll be only limited by batteries.
But we won't be able to get in on that because we didn't invest when we needed to.
Also we're going to miss out in new advances in material science, which are going to be huge game changers in my opinion.

earth is doomed at this point desu

humanity deserves trump

You get what you vote for

>don't want to breathe that shit in
England did for 100+ years and they conquered like 1/4th the world at that time.

What a shit opinion

>Bawww muh coal.
Guess what cock fag.
We still use coal, the only reason why the coal mines in the USA was shut down was cause it was cheaper to buy from China, and you use coal to make steel.

Coal mining fag here, these jobs are the only jobs in these poor ass areas and it puts food on the table.
If you are not with coal, then you are not for America, and are on the wrong side of history when the time comes.

OK to shaft environment since we will be gone in fifty years.

>Why is it OK to not give a shit about the environment?
Because adaptation without lowering oneself is peculiar to actual Humans.

If we lower our condition by turning into eco-conscious fags, it's not worth going on anyway.

If we need to start shitting in drawers, then spreading some kind of saw dust over it like cats do with litter, then steeping it all for months, before throwing it over our food (the disgusting concept of ecological dry toilets so many fags fantasize about), I'd rather die.

Even if we were responsible for climate change (which is a silly idea anyway), I wouldn't care, as the alternative is going back to sloshing in our own shit, like mere niggers.

Humans have to overcome this or any other shit in a great way, or perish. Glory or death!

i cant be mad at humanity for committing suicide when i want a meteor to kill us anyway

I can see your capitalist pearl clutching from a mile away. Fuck you for being such a greedy little shit.

Sup Forums, you don't want climate change. More climate change = more immigrants from Africa and the Middle East = more Islamic terrorists.

The issue of PV being dirty is actually ridiculously complex because of the money involved in the industry, and the lengths that people go to in order to hide their total cost.
spectrum.ieee.org/green-tech/solar/solar-energy-isnt-always-as-green-as-you-think
businessinsider.com/solar-panel-makers-grappling-with-waste-2013-2

There is the issue of the energy used to produce the panels from the refined components.
There is the issue of the C02 released from that process alone.
There is an issue of the waste products from this process.
There is the issue of the transportation costs of that waste.
There is the issue of the cost to refine the raw materials, the net energy input there, and the waste from that as well.
And still there is the issue that these materials are pulled from the earth in shaft and strip mines like anything else. That in itself is a process with tons of net input.

Mining, refining, and manufacturing are massively intensive operations that create loads of pollution. The sum total of this isn't calculated by any Green advocacy group because of how damning it would be to compile all the data together.

spectrum.ieee.org/nanoclast/green-tech/solar/new-record-for-nanowirebased-solar-cells-achieved
spectrum.ieee.org/nanoclast/green-tech/solar/secret-hidden-in-grains-of-perovskite-could-boost-its-efficiency

Of the mass produced silicon PVs on the market now their conversion efficiency rates are around 20-23%. Hitting 30% would be ground breaking, and no one is close yet.
All of the hype about "Solar Now!" is pointless even if pollution weren't an issue. The panels are nowhere near capable of replacing coal and natural gas derived electricity.

kek. get a load of this guy. the world thinks your country is a circus.

>this was literally Obama's campaign platform

Seriously, where does a German with his insane cucked government get to criticize anyone?

every energy has an environmental cost. photovoltics for example require rare earth mining, lots of water consumption and toxic sludges, as well as an investment in energy during production.

top kek

>capitalist
>implying it's an insult
if you're suffering that much, hang yourself, snowniggering commie failure
dying like a hopeless piece of worthless shit is the best thing you'll do in your whole life anyway

If there were just some kind of magical power source that we could centralize and distribute globally as a pact between nations....
Too bad something like that couldn't be done with an array of nuclear plants in the Sahara or Antarctica.

Not before climate change hangs you and your entire family :^)

Pretty informative dude thanks

>global warming meme

Holy shit, please stop. I'm a far right environmentalist but realize a few things.

>the Far East Jews will always pollute worse than we do
>people haven't been able to eat certain kinds of very popular seafood for about 40 years now because of the mercury
>GO OUTSIDE AND LOOK AT THE WATERWAYS
>odds are that it is visibly polluted

And on, and on, and on, and on... Being an environmentalist is a lot more than constantly droning on about climate change. I want to eat a swordfish but they're full of fucking mercury. The air is all fucked up if you're near a major city. Yadda yadda

Oh please stap: I'm so scared!!!

denial

Nuclear is the way but putting them in remote areas won't work very well.
Transimssion losses are rather large and only increase with distance. The amount of energy that would be lost from antartica to anywhere would instantly make it ineffective, not to mention the insane cost of laying down high voltage (600kv) lines through ocean

Sorry to break it to you, but electing Donald Trump to be president was a stupid move.

>ALMOST THE CURRENT YEAR OF 2017
>CARING ABOUT "THE ENVIRONMENT"

LOL KK

Electrical lines? What is this, 1965? You could convert the energy to hydrogen via elecrolysis from an ocean source, then ship it via pipelines to gas power stations around the world.

>Trump to be president was a stupid move
>Someday solar is going to be so cheap
I know that theory. Think I read it between a story about unicorns shitting rainbows, and another about leprechauns sharing their green kike gold.

You really think that's practical

We have satellites that measure solar flux, there is no corresponding "excess" or anything coming from the sun that can account for the measured gradual heating of the earths atmosphere and oceans.

Oil beds come from ancient rainforests and coral reefs from before the dinosaurs. The entire Earth was effectively covered in rainforest after vascular pants evolved. They absorbed a lot of carbon out of the atmosphere, which broke down into petroleum.

Burning one octane molecule can create up to 8 CO2 molecules.
