Why are there still people that think raising this shit will fix anything?
Why are there still people that think raising this shit will fix anything?
When you move out of your parents house and start paying bills you will understand.
If they'd move out of their horrible overpriced hellhole cities and to the country they could live comfy off $8.25/hour. Not live rich, but they could make it an own a home.
resisting wage increases is like resisting emancipation
Fucking degenerates all their lazy ass's do is devalue my money by causing more inflation.
>implying these niggers work at all
Why do people want to be lenient on illegal immigration when they complain about wages?
Do they really think anybody is going to hire them for $15 an hour when a guy is willing to work at a rate of $4?
We either need to ramp up our education, or we need to somehow use their stupidity to convince these people not to breed.
Except there's no jobs there. That's why it's not expensive.
I would believe this if these miserable fucks didn't have designer sneakers and new cell phones.
That's what I'll never understand. I worked with some nigress a few years back who had seven kids with one incoming. She was on EBT and the only person making money in her house was her at $11 an hour. She was telling me how she knows this family who moved down to Chile and now own this enormous farm where they sell potted plants back up to America and live like kings. When I asked her why she wouldn't do that, she said "Now why would I do a thing like that?"
I have no idea what poor people think sometimes.
>Except there's no jobs there. That's why it's not expensive.
>I have never been to the country
there are factory jobs all over.
>Cant survive on $8.25
an hour
>has a cell phone, place to live, full stomach, and TV
>Can't survive on $8.25
What a fuckboy, I survived on $7.50.
Where is this? In most places other than the west coast you could survive on 8.25. That's 6.70 after taxes, or $265 a week. $1,060 a month. Seems reasonable. Unless you're a retarded poorfag who spends more money than necessary. This wage could easily provide a single person the bare necessities.
I moved out and got a real job faggot!
Perhaps that's because you've elected politicians which have shaped policy that encouraged your kind to flourish in number artificially. And now the labor you performed is devalued since you can be easily replaced.
So now that your stupid nature has been taken advantage of by those same people you elected, they keep your loyalty by tempting you with gibs to offset your decreased living conditions.
Clearly the solution is to keep voting for the same people, right?
setting a price floor for labor is one way to do things.
I prefer labor unions. However those are almost unanimously hated due to the propaganda machine churning anti-labor rhetoric since the 1950s.
Either way it is a fact that it takes many less people to participate in the labor market in order to produce all the goods and services demanded for consumption on the open market. This is largely thanks to automation and technology, a trend that is accelerating. There will come a time when only a small fraction of the population will need to participate in the production of all goods and services, at that time the systemic flaw in the economic system will become impossible to ignore.
In the short term no solution is not political suicide for any government to contemplate.
Pumping more money to middle and lower class actually helps economy, because these people spend their money domesticaly. The money circulates and finally all lands back as taxes. So it is even good, if State employs vain people, because these middle-class employees circulate money and help salesmen etc...
Giving money to highest-class, or spending it on foreign goods, or allowing foreign contruction companies just because their workers and taxes are "cheaper", is bleeding country's resources, because they're moving that money abroad...
>This wage could easily provide a single person the bare necessities.
nope: Denver, Co here; rents for shitty studio apartments are $750-$1000 / month. Add food and utilities and you will not have enough, not even mentioning health insurance, vehicle insurance, and a car payment.
Sure some southern hick towns in America this may be acceptable but not in any major metro.
Thankfully I have a good job so I can scrape by.
I think the problem is they have no motivation or incentive to expect to get a job that pays more than minimum wage at some point. It's like they know they will never go beyond entry level positions.
I worked minimum wage jobs. Sure the money sucked. I hated being poor and not being able to do what I wanted. So instead of bitching I took out a loan, went back to school, made sure my degree was worth some something and not bullshit like English or Women's Studies, and now I make pretty good money. My loans will be paid off in about 3 years, I make 75k a year, and hopefully if i keep working hard I'll be at 150k.
>ving money to highest-class, or spending it on foreign goods, or allowing foreign contruction companies just because their workers and taxes are "cheaper", is bleeding country's resources, because they're moving that money abroad...
you mean like the lower to middle class that only spends money on chinese goods?
this is what happens though when you allow business that were once middle class jobs move to India and China and produce products a dirty cheap labor cost, then ship them back into America at a 10 x increase in sale value
The general public that doesn't want to spend 100k on college or isn't smart enough to go once could make a stable living in the manufacturing sector
>those jobs were outsourced
those people then took jobs in the manual labor and still could make a very good living
>then illegals flooded the country
now that those jobs are going the way of the buffalo whats left?
>$8.00/hour jobs at McDonald's and Pizza hut
Greed and a lack of nationalism is what's destroying our country and making us poor wage slaves barely getting by
I could understand how it could be difficult, and of course everyone's situation is different. However, in today's society nearly everyone overspends, which is a problem if you're poor. Many people spend $100+ on a phone plan, when you could easily pay $30, or even less if you get prepaid. If you make your own meals, you can eat very well for under $150 a month. Many poor people finance brand new cars, which ends up being very expensive in the long run. Some people may just be unlucky, but for the vast majority, it's their lifestyle and choices that dictate their financial situation.
There's an argument to be made that a country that claims to be the richest country in the history of civilization should a least guarantee it's lower working class a good standard of living so that it's capitalist system can prosper with a larger consumer base.
BUT WHAT THE FUCK DO I KNOW, IM JUST A LEAF.
The guy on the right is holding a smartphone, the sign is multicolor. They are doing fine.
>We can't survive and also get a PS4 pro with a copy of Battlefield 1 on 8.25/hr
ftfy
>However those are almost unanimously hated due to the propaganda machine churning anti-labor rhetoric since the 1950s.
Yeah it has nothing to do with a guy doing simplistic work that anyone can do wanting 60k a year and causing the company to say "fuck this", and move the whole plant to Mexico.
Brand new, expensive clothes, well groomed, smartphones. They seem to be surviving just fine, especially for niggers.
If government can write a piece of paper and increase everyone's earnings, why aren't you all millionaires americucks?
Let's do the math. You have two people sharing a flat, maybe even three. All of these people work minimum wage job with daily 8-hour shifts.
8*5*4*8,25*3 = $ 3,960, if you work a six day week, it adds up to $ 4,752. Sounds livable.
Cellphones in the 80s used to cost hundreds of dollars. Absolute high luxury. What are they now, twenty bucks a month?
>multicolor
What is a dollar store, Alex.
I doubt you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth and browse Sup Forums. So, get the fuck out of mom's basement.
>I hate poor people and hate anyone who needs to work for a living
the post
underrated post
If they are so close to starving, that twenty bucks would come in handy as food, not smartphones.
and literally none of this is relevant to or contradicts anything I said.
>say they can't survive
>surviving
Fucking liars
Wait, no wonder you dumbasses think the shit in that image is anywhere near expensive. Everything, from their clothes, to the sign, to their phones, are dirt cheap.
Euros go and stay go.
>smart phone
>those gloves
>that fucking coat
Yeah, it can't be money management, it's that they need more money.
Fucking niggers, I swear to fucking god...
You have no idea what being poor looks like.
Sharing a room = being dependant on someone else = not making it. This is the same shit I've heard from people who tried going to England
>I made it
>What do you do
>I work most of the day to rent a room with four other guys
>Budget's tight tho
You're literally living like niggers jumping in the western world.
The people making minimum wage don't think about how increasing it will just cause price inflation, watch Washington state to see how it turns out, they just voted to increase minimum wage to $13.50/hr by 2020.
>Sharing a room = being dependant on someone else = not making it.
Sharing a flat, as in living with a partner or as a family.
>1320 a month
>probably around $1100 after taxes
lol what nigger
That's completely livable for someone single and without a kid, as it was intended. Hell, get a roommate if it gets too hard.
>muh independence meme
fuck off
>starving
Nothing in that image says "starving". They can't "survive" meaning they can't afford to improve their lives and their situation will likely decline. They'll probably have to move somewhere cheaper and dangerous, and if they have family then their dollar and future gets stretched even thinner.
They won't survive being lower middle-class.
missing the larger picture. its cool, not everyone is bright enough to see the writing on the wall.
Please go ahead and champion that race to the bottom. Everyone on earth in the labor pool should compete with each other over the ever dwindling pool of globally demanded labor. Surely this will never end in inevitable failure of markets right?
>While literally surviving
Sharing a flat with strangers equals to not making it, any other leap of logic is asinine rhetoric. No difference than working and paying a glorified rent to your parents, except you can do whatever the fuck you want in your place.
It's the opposite, I'm calling out people who claim that half life is "independence" while it's blatantly not.
I have a fixed percentage mortgage. Bring on the inflation, please.
I did not, nor did the image, state they're poor. No one wants to be poor and the cost of better living always goes up, at least in the U.S.
>paid 1.1k monthly
>1 bed 1 bath is 600 dollars
>that does not involve utilities, gas, groceries, etc
Nah
If you are trying to live on 8 dollars an hour you qualify for a free phone and yes they have smartphones too.
Low wages are subsidies for large companies. You can work 40 hours a week at 8 bucks an hour and still draw EBT and a Obamaphone for shits sake.
You're basically paying them more in social services by not raising wages. The actual long term solution lies in a flat tax system. Since flat tax proposal is political suicide we have no choice but to raise wages everything else raises along with it though so it's perpetual inflation.
The term survive indicates that they will die otherwise, which is a lie. Being middle-class is nowhere near the surviving line.
>cheaper and dangerous
Are you implying that people who are lower income citizen are more likely to be violent? Racist.
....b-but MUH iBONE7 AND PUTTIN D'S ON MUH WHIPPPPP NYUKKAHHHH.
There's also an argument to be made that keeping minimum wages low forces the lower working class to never be satisfied with their condition, improves productivity and profits for companies allowing the overall economy to continue to be dominant.
BUT WHAT THE FUCK DO I KNOW, IM JUST A LEAF
So living like refugees from a shithole is ok while the economic inequality between the super rich and middle class continues to grow.
Lets all completely ignore that the quality of life for a poor person is much higher than any time in the past.
>we have no choice but to raise wages everything else raises along with it though so it's perpetual inflation.
If it's just raising the price on the low end, we can just not do it in the first place and save the trouble for everyone else.
>Sharing a flat with strangers equals to not making it, any other leap of logic is asinine rhetoric. No difference than working and paying a glorified rent to your parents, except you can do whatever the fuck you want in your place.
So living with your wife is being a failure? Isn't Italy supposed to be family friendly?
There's also an argument to be made that driving up wages equal to inflation increases velocity of money and more people are able to reach the 1%.
BUT WHAT THE FUCK DO I KNOW, IM JUST A LEAF.
It's been proven that higher wages and benifits raise company productivity and stock value.
Costco proved this. Wal-Mart has even adopted this. Happier workers make happier companies.
>So living like refugees from a shithole is ok
Getting flats and houses paid by the state? Sounds like a miracle for me.
>being willfully ignorant
It's a fucking sign, kraut. You want them to put their entire argument on that sheet? The American Dream isn't about surviving.
>Are you implying that people who are lower income citizen are more likely to be violent?
This is bait and you should feel bad about it.
Maybe if this were pre-refugee Europe but this is America. We have dreams, even our upper-class.
they're selfish. They already have a job. Overall living costs will not increase so much it offsets the increase in pay for the minimum wage worker.
>The actual long term solution lies in a flat tax system.
actually I disagree.
Lets look at the 1930s - 1960s in America, one of the most prosperous times in the countries history. During that time there was almost zero incentive to earn more personal income annually than about one million dollars due to progressive taxation. Any personal income exceeding that threshold was taxed at nearly 100%. The result of this was that indeviduals who would otherwise have kept that money now preferred to use it to invest in their companies and to distribute it to their employees (rather than give it to the government). As a consequence the middle class in America during this time thrived.
Today with no aggressive progressive tax structure in place there is zero reason for those who can take home incredible annual income to do anything other than exactly that. And the middle class is a ghost on its last legs.
So no, flat taxes are absolutely not the fix for anything, they do not incentivize the organic wealth distribution that was a ubiquitous factor in the formation of a thriving middle class society.
History is a bitch.
Getting dreams fulfilled by asking for the state to do it sounds very pro-refugee Europe.
Indeed, Henry Ford realized this. Investing in your employees (whatever their condition and background might be) is usually a net positive for a company that's profitable.
THEN FUCKING DIE
Henry Ford could say that, but I doubt one of those four-year runtime CEO's has enough balls (or time) to paint a bigger picture. It's either profit or getting kicked out again.
>be me
>Have no education
>Get a job washing dishes in restaurant at 14 because grandma is sick
>23 now worked several kitchen jobs
>Making 13.50 full time in an assisted living facility as a dietary cook
Gotta be a fucking retard if you cant survive getting paid 4 burgers per hour. What the doi with money? lose them?
Fucking niggers.
Same people preaching increasing minimum wage are those encouraging illegal immigration because 'US citizens don't want those jobs at those prices'.
They basically preach slavery. Or that we should have some sort of illegal underclass that gets paid absolute shit while the 'real' citizens earn some high minimum wage.
How is that fair?
When the majority of consumers have little spendinf money, nobody buys anything and the economy stalls. We should absolutely raise wages for the good of the JOB CREATORS who are trying to sell goods, but cant because people are too poor.
They don't stop to think that getting laws to forcefully nearly-double wages will just make low-skill jobs rush to automate to save money. Its already happening steadily, there are few grocery stores that don't have self-checkouts nowadays, and some have more of those than living cashiers.
Same thing will happen with fast food places, too. Anything that can be automated and used to save money will be.
Go to culinary school.
This is exactly what people are saying.. you live in Denver, CO. Rent is high. Move the fuck to Aurora, CO. 30 mins away by bus. but rent is $650.
The further out you go the cheaper rent is.
I make 82k i my mid 20s and feel no compassion for the poor.
That, exactly, is their plan
>i have no idea what poor people think
They don't
>Anything that can be automated and used to save money will be.
Harvard did a study on that. You can automate many jobs, but the companies try to not do it because the general public doesn't stand good on a company firing 2000 employees and exchange them with 20 PC programs.
Minimum wage should be scaled to take inflation into account.
maybe instead of having a shit job with bills you can't pay, work hard to get a good job and stop buying shit you can't afford. you know, like a responsible adult.
>There's an argument to be made that a country that claims to be the richest country in the history of civilization should a least guarantee it's lower working class a good standard of living
Why? Why should people be paid more than they're worth, just because they're in a good country?
No. People need to stop taking jobs meant for teenagers.
Because they are idiots and their understanding ends at "bigger paycheck"
Don't ever try to reason with them
I guess you didn't get the memo about italian women
>money get tight
>women have to start working
>"wait, so THIS is what men have been doing for centuries? Fuck this shit"
>divorce rate skyrockets
>birthrate drops like a rock
>Die Emancipation
I'd rather trust a romanian woman with a household than I would ever trust an italian one.
There is an estimated inflation rate of 1.7 percent for the next twelve months. That would bring the minimum wage to $8,39. I doubt they would be happy about it.
>Move the fuck to Aurora, CO
be me: live in aurora, college grad, civil engineering, support wife and daughter, cheapest 1 bedroom >$1000 annually, pay health insurance, utilities, student loans and the rest, have exactly zero savings, live in terror that I get sick or injured cause my whole family is fucked.
Then you need to fix your "crisis am over, plenty of jobs" numbers, America, because tons of those are mcjobs.
>I guess you didn't get the memo about italian women
The only memo I got about italian women would be fitting for Sup Forums or /r9k/, but not Sup Forums.
Survival and living comfortable are 2 different things
minimal wage should be repealed together with foodstamps.
feeding the pest creates large dependant populations.
these bithes are going to complain even about 100$/hour
So you see, people /need/ money. Corporations don't care if there's 20% unemployment, they'll function just fine, they're not in danger. So the bottom of the labor barrel gets forced to accept wages under their free market value because they /need/ money to survive, and the alternative to not taking that piece of shit job, is no job.
So, if the government is going to be fucking with the economy so hardcore like this, then the government has to make sure that corporations can't screw the unskilled like this.
We have plenty of jobs and not enough skiled people to do them. You have your entire life to get a job skill, if you don't bother to do that then enjoy poverty
im a bank intern and i get paid 1400 euros a month for a 45 hour week, i am essentially earning 7.8 euros an hour. if i can survive on it, they can too.
Why does no one ever think "hey maybe I'll learn a new skill and make more money?". All you have to do is spend like $100 on forklift lessons if you can't get an entry level and be making like $17+ an hour with in a year while being union with benefits. That is exactly what I did to pay my way through college since my GI bill didn't cover everything. They are just lazy no good bottom feeders that simply don't want to better themselves and only want a free ride.
I have a friend from TX with a geoinformatics degree who can't fucking find a job and is considering walmart. Why? They want xpiriens for stages. Experience for a stage. To get prepared to do a job you have to have experience at the job.
At this point even upskilled people are fighting over scraps and you know it. We are at the point where the factory worker is the new homeless and the engineer is a glorified factory worker.
and thats excluding the fucking overtime because i dont get paid for extra hours
Maybe they shouldn't stay in college until they reach their 30's. I work since 17, have a gotten my B.Eng last year and have ten years experience in the field to show off. It's hard, expensive and time consuming, but they sure suck your dick afterwards.
>keep $8.25/hr
>shit stays the same
>increase to $10/hr
>EVERYTHING increases to rectify this change
>decrease to $5/hr
>EVERYTHING decreases to rectify this change
>tfw there are people out there who still believe a higher minimum wage will fix anything
The only way to save everything is a total revamp of our economic scene. Anything else is just retardation that needs to be purged.
>forklift lessons
actually that job isn't a thing anymore, if it still is some places then it wont be much longer.
