Pitbulls are really loving dogs until their instincts kick in and they attack something.

It could be trained to sniff out paraphernalia - any dog that is obsessed with a certain kind of reward (for example my dog goes crazy for any type of ball) is easy to train to sniff stuff out because of how focused they can be when they know what they will get as a reward

I have never, ever met a pit bull owner who was intelligent, whether white or black. I've lived in the Deep South and Midwest and pit bull owners are all very similar: dumb. I just wish the children killed by these dogs were only those of the owners, and not neighbors and innocents.

What's the problem here? They're not endangered or anything? Beating the dog and choking it to release a dead animal is abuse.

went to the pet store to pick up dog food today and saw a LB looking guy with a pitbull - it had on a pink vest thing because it was cold out and it came over to me while I was in the same aisle and begged for attention. Point is it is a meme on this board at this point but it really does depend on the owner of the dog. Just like lots of stupid old ladies get Chihuahuas and pamper them so they turn into little demons, lots of people involved in dog fighting get pitbulls and train them to be vicious. Any dog can be vicious, but the problem with pitbulls and other large breeds is that if they do end up snapping for whatever reason then they end up doing a lot more damage than a smaller dog would. Easiest way to fix this problem is to require anyone buying/adopting dogs like pitbulls to go thru some sort of class so that they know what they are doing and so that those kind of dogs don't go to people who are in over their heads or trying to get them to fight.

Having had family members with multiple pit bulls, I have to agree with the bad training argument.

They can definitely be very friendly and well behaved, but they require a lot of attention and strict training. The problem is people getting them as pets thinking they can just wing it with the training as if it were a labrador or something.


Just about any dog would go after a seal like that if it wasn't used to them, but a properly trained dog would let go when you commanded it.

Pitbulls were European dogs originally bred by kings and queens to literally raise their children.
When the breed made it's way out of europe it's occupation changed, boar hunting mostly.
